Coffers in Alliance Raids!

Can we please, please, PLEASE have coffers in the alliance raids going forward? Two weeks ago I didn't get a gear piece after 5 runs because nothing for tanks would drop. Last week took me 3 runs for 1 of the 2 pieces I still need to finish my set and this week i only need 1 item that will probably take a ton of runs to get.

So can we please change the drop method to coffers so we can open them on any class and so that everyone can get at least 1 piece of gear chance per run? It's seriously crazy how you can do multiple runs and never see a piece of gear for your class and the problem will only increase as more classes are added!

Coffers aren't a bad idea, in my opinion, though they should probably only drop from the last boss to keep people around.

Or let us use the weekly currency to buy the sets.

LMAO, it took me 22 runs to get one piece of healing gear.

Single digit rolls on the minion. Every.single.time.

I support this. Even if they're removed once the raid is no longer current to keep people farming for glamour and thus keep queues populated.

only issue with coffers is that anyone can need them
so itll be still you vs 7 others but I guess its better than not rolling at all

Not If they'd put 8 coffers per boss and the final extra coffers with minion an cards held the chest piece coffer... so then every run would have the option for any piece of gear you need and once the gear unlocks you could get a full set in a single run for glamour or gearing up

Are you seriously thinking they would go from giving us 10 random pieces per run to 32 of our choosing?

Asking for better RNG safety nets is one thing, and I'd love to have either the coffers or coin purchase system, but they'd never be so generous as that.

Reminds me of my early days in Rabanastre trying to get the SAM chestpiece. Pretty sure I went at least 30 runs before I saw it drop.

same, I did daily Ivalice raid runs for my Agrias and Ramza set. And I LIKED IT

it took me like 2 years to even see the WoD maiming boots
the one time they dropped i wasnt on DRG

the dark ages of no alliance roulette and when people wanted to do CT raids

Nothing should be tied to pure rng.

Im on the mindset of "selective rng". In that some rng can be good, as long as its fun.

But I would just honestly request a guaranteed item piece drop, or at least make the tokens that drop to be used for either augment a tomestone piece or purchase any of the raid items.

it's not a contest

the fact is that alliance raids are the only duties that award gear without a guaranteed way to obtain a specific piece that you want. in savage you're eventually guaranteed to get one thanks to pages, and extreme trials drop weapon coffers now in addition to a single weapon. in eureka it was tied to farming a currency, and it was the same in bozja too. so why not alliance raids?

Alliances AND level-cap dungeons, including ones no longer at cap.

I don't think they've even added weapon coffers for the Baldur and Crimson Lotus weapons.

Gear for levelling dungeons is handed out freely at the end of each run, but level-cap dungeons never get updated to do the same and some really good glamours remain very difficult to acquire.

They are less generous with the amount of pieces dropped per run compared to alliance raids, so even fewer opportunities for RNG to turn up the right piece.

My brain is still rather melted after farming Breach for a week for a singular drop with my tank friend. We can hear the raid music while not in the game, and he can hear it in his sleep still.

Coffers should be added once the next part of that raid is released - definitly not while its current content. Simply handing everyone a coffer at the end of a run would pretty much invalidate all of the chests before the last boss (why roll on something if you can grab the coffer?) while also ensuring a decline in participants (why run it more than once if you get a coffer?).

Its not like anyone actually "needs" this gear as an upgrade - sure, it can be an upgrade (specially for secondary jobs) but there are other ways to gear up. Not getting a drop from an alliance raid isnt going to hinder anyones progress. Its pretty much mainly for glamour - so I think coffers once the content is "outdated" is fair.

Once a raid is no longer current, we should be able to use the raid's coins to buy the gear from a vendor. You still have to run the raid a few times to get enough coins, but if RNGsus hates you, you'll still get what you're after eventually.

Been trying to get that Striking chest piece from Rabanastre and it has been painful.
Definitely could use some sort of already in game token/coffer for old raid content.

Either way, you will still run multiple times until you can get a single piece at that point.

Sorry if it wasn't clear but I was talking about individual piece coffers, simular to those you receive from MSQ quests. I.e. glove, boots, legs, chest and hat coffers not entire armor sets in 1 box

Glamour is the real purpose for these items in the long term. They have no gameplay value. Nobody is running St Mocianne's Arboretum for, what, i180 gear? They're running it for the Plague Doctor and Thief sets – and you can run and run and run it and never see the piece you need.

The level 59 and 61 dungeons give me a free piece at the end of every run, so why doesn't the level 60 dungeon?

I'd love a token shop for glams/minions from older alliance raids. Just getting these to pop in the queue system is like pulling teeth unless it's crystal tower. It'd be lovely, having done some of these raids literally hundreds of time, to be able to just buy a gearpiece I want on a whim rather than commit to running it another 20 times on the same job for one piece of gear.

On another note, while we're discussing alliance raids... can we give more incentives for people to run Void Ark/Ivalice? There are like, half a dozen parts of the game shoving kids back to crystal tower and it clogs up the roulette every damn day. If the queues actually popped, I wouldn't mind farming them for gear at all tbh

This -- along with a change to savage once it's outdated by an expansion -- is something I've often noted would probably make the glamour grind a lot less frustrating.

First: let the alliance raid tokens be used to buy the gear. Sure, when the alliance raid is current and the tokens are once per week, it's unlikely people will do so because those tokens are useful for upgrading current tomestone gear, but they'd have the option. But once the alliance raid is no longer current...

Well, how many people out there have run Puppets' Bunker over and over and over -- even since Endwalker came out! -- just to try to get the fending, maiming, or striking jackets? It would be a lot less obnoxious if after X runs, you just traded in the coin for the piece you wanted.

Second: once a savage tier is an expansion out-of-date, let the normal raid tokens be used to buy the savage gear -- at a price hike relative to the savage books, of course. (Bonus: those items that people flee the normal raids to avoid getting in their inventory at the end of normal raid roulette would have a potential use still!)

Once you're an expansion past a given raid series, the dyeable savage gear only has value for glam (well, and sometimes the way ultimates handle level syncing makes a given piece part of the BiS for an ultimate). And as it's the dyeable version of the normal raid gear, some of that glam value can be pretty high; I still use Edengrace (casting jacket), Edenchoir (WHM cane), and Edenmorn gear (fending jacket) in some glams.

Heck, I have a WHM glam based around the A12S cane.

And while I do think it can be fun to go back and try to run old raids synced -- or even just to farm them unsynched with others -- I also recognize not everyone wants to deal with that to get outdated gear for glamour purposes. Especially if it's alliance raid gear; savage gear you can at least farm old fights for the pages necessary to get the gear, but alliance raid you might have to run something two dozen times before you see what you want drop.

And making the alliance raid portion of that change happen even when the alliance raid is current would mean people who really need that one piece and just haven't seen it drop week after week could still eventually guarantee it, if they were willing to use the coins for that rather than buying upgrade tokens for tomestone gear.
