[Stone, Sky, Sea Completed] Should be an option on Party Finder listings.

Taking this out of the DPS meter thread because it is just going to get buried there.

This is a less "toxic" compromise than an in-game meter that solves the root problem.

Let's start with some facts:
Fact: The developers create all content to be completed with the tools currently available in game.
Fact: They test this content to ensure it is completable at a minimum iLvl and competency.
Fact: The tool Stone, Sky, Sea exists so players can test their damage output and see if it meets the standard to complete a duty.
Fact: Players can currently lock Party Finder recruitment by iLvl
Fact: Players can currently lock Party Finder recruitment by Duty Completion

What I propose is the ability to lock your PF listing by completion of Stone, Sky, Sea for that duty similar to how you can for [Duty Completed].

This is no different than being able to lock an iLvl range to make sure the players has ample gear to survive the duty, in this case it is just making sure the player has ample damage output to complete the duty

Great news is the SSS dummies already exist in the game, and I would assume are calibrated to what the developers feel like the minimal viable damage output to complete a duty is.

Best part of all, its completely optional, much like iLvl and Duty Completed locks. If you don't want to join a party that has it locked? You can join a party that doesn't require it or make your own party.

I mean, yeah. This is reasonable. I'm for it.

The thing is idk how much this would help. The Balance has a pretty good insight on SSS but bottom line is it’s horribly calibrated for certain jobs and a horrible horrible metric on personal dps.

Yeah, I'll be the first to admit it isn't exactly a perfect tool, but its better than nothing. I'd hope that the devs would evaluate the calibration a bit during implementation.

Sounds like a good thing but I am not sure what the benefit will be.
People are just gonna lock then by ilvl, duty complete and s/s/s.

I guess it might make it easier for some starting groups since they could just lock based on ilvl and s/s/s? That could be helpful

It's true, I think they should be re-balanced as well.
RNG on MNK could be pretty infuriating I dunno how it is now exactly since I swapped in EW.
I still think it's a good bare-minimum tho.

Honestly, I'd say SSS is arguably worse than nothing as it has zero bearing on encounters beyond 'do you have the ilvl, know your jobs rotation and if need be are willing to throw food and a pot at a dummy?'

It doesn't test a players ability to maintain their GCD whilst moving or handling mechanics, it doesn't put any pressure on them during their two minute burst window which seems to be a big trend this tier, it's not consistent between jobs or even tiers really and has very little bearing on the actual DPS checks most fights have.

About the only thing it does achieve is to remind healers just how comically bad their 'gameplay loop' is TBH. If you've not tried SSS as a healer, I recommend you give it a go :rolleyes:

I'd be all for gating content behind something like SSS sure, but SSS would need a complete rethink and rework first.

I made a post detailing a more elaborate concept back in 2015, a bit before SSS was implimented, effectively making a gold saucer mini game mashup of SSS and what we would later get added in as Slice is Right.

Simply put, I suggested a target dummy mini game but with some key differences:

It should work off potency per second rather than damage per second, making gear entirely irrelevant for it, everyone would be on a level playing field at the level cap.

It shouldn't be a simple dummy to beat up, but rather it should throw various ground markers and mechanics back at the player, expanding on this to offer up simulations of various key mechanics and fights would be a neat introduction to the end game staples and markers.

Having it as a gold saucer mini game simplifies the reward side of things whilst also incentivising a much broader range of players to give it a go.

Only if they fix the horrible tuning on some of the dummies.

All your criticisms have merit.. but all they're asking for here is the option to screen their own PF's with a req of "can you do the basic DPS necessary if we let you stand there and do rotations all day?"

Not like a req for joining DF or ANY party.. just some.

Pretty much this.

The DPS dummies have historically been extremely overtuned for the later savage fights to an extent where it's literally impossible for some jobs to kill them on week one unless they're already wearing an excess of savage drops.

I do not have an objection to this, the dummies are questionable sometimes and with a PF filter i'd hope they would ensure the dummies are properly calibrated.
