FC Hierarchy Ranking Suggestion

My FC officer mates and I discovered a bit of an odd thing. We have a hierarchy system of Guild Master (highest rank), General, Officer, LT, Member etc. We discovered that allowing a rank to promote/demote meant that they could promote themselves all the way up to the highest rank right below the Guild Master.

I cannot believe this is even a thing. What is the point of hierarchy ranks if they can move themselves up??

Please remove the option for ranks to promote themselves upwards. I can only imagine what kind of chaos that could happen if someone was being vindictive and abused that privilege.
(and for anyone that didn't realize this I highly suggest you go change the settings in your FC rankings)

It has been a while since I've been a leader of a FC, but can't you edit the privileges each rank can and can't do? Just make it so the leader can promote folks.

But, I could be wrong. I'd look into it.

The Officers and up are the leaders. What's the point of being officers if they cannot promote the recruits to members? It makes no sense. It makes absolutely no sense why they can also promote themselves to be a higher rank.

I have had the same issue for years as leader. It would be beneficial if members could promote people but not promote anyone higher then the rank they currently have. That way you can make officers and sub-officers so you have more help without taking too big of a risk (possible abuse).

Bumping this post because this is a pretty serious issue that makes it more difficult to have people in charge in our FC. We have a role for helpful FC mates that can promote recruits up to member when it's time, especially if an officer is not on. Things like that become a big issue with this ranking problem.

For a while, they had kept this announcement pinned to the top of the Notices but for some reason let it drop.

They aren't unaware it's a problem but it's hard to say when (if) they'll get around to making changes.

Until they do, it's best that FC Masters limit the ability to promote/demote to the first rank below FC Master.

If your officers are rarely online to handle FC issues, you may want to consider if there more active members that would better fill the officer rank.

There is no "upwards" there is simply two ranks seen by the system. "Master" and "Not master" in which the master can divide up not masters's with varying degrees of freedom.

Hm, that was 2 years ago. Hopefully they will do something about it sooner than later. =/
Our officers are online quite a bit but there are certain hours when we aren't and if we aren't on during those hours and a LT is then they can help. It has definitely made it so that we are even more careful than we already were about who to promote.

Yes, this has been an issue that keeps coming up. I am very glad for your sake that you noticed it before someone took advantage and cleaned out your FC (because if someone has permission to access the chest and the FC gil, you are very unlikely to get anything back).

Keeping promotions to Master Rank only is the safest option, everything else leaves you somewhat open to abuse.
Whlie you are at it, check who is allowed to buy/relinquish the FC house and the workshop (if you have one).
If your FC has a house, players can apply by clicking the placard outside. Ofc, some areas are story-locked which is a problem for new/low level players, they'll be able to access the FC house after they are members but they can't access the housing area to apply

Just bumping this post again because this is a serious issue that does need to be resolved by the devs.

Ranks aren't set up as a hierarchy, they're just individual 'profiles' that allow you to assign different permissions.
This would likely require a complete rework of the FC rank system.

It's pretty simple, just give the top level ranks the permission to promote/demote.
Why would you want anyone other than yourself and your most trusted members being able to give other people additional permissions?

SE has long shown they care not about FC settings or ranks. There are many glaring FC problems or QoL that are really needed.
If we are lucky in 7.0 we get FC rank to 60 offering you another 2 benefits that no one asked for like action storage, which saves the FC leader 1 trip to your GC per week.
