My dear god, what in the world is going on?

SE: We want to reiterate our policy that's been the same for many years.
People: The sky is falling.
Also SE: Yeah and this one guy had the audacity to stream himself using 3rd party tools. We will ban him, because, duh.
Also People: THE SKY IS FALLING ZOMG WHAT WILL I DO?

...I dunno, maybe take a breath and realize nothing at all - nothing, not an iota - has changed? Just maybe?

Like, seriously, all of this fear and rhetoric is made-up nonsense. Y'all make up fake nonsense, then get riled up over it. +1 for the "raised by the Internet" generation, I guess? People that grew up with logic and reality surrounding them likely aren't reacting like this.

And if you're a streamer, and you're now freaking out because you can't do your chosen profession anymore for fear of being banned - I have no sympathy for you folks. You folks knew from day one that using 3rd party tools was against ToS and that the only people that were truly safe were those that didn't broadcast the fact that they were violating TOS.

It's like saying "I've been driving this same route to and from work for ten years, always doing a sneaky 75 in the 65 zone, and NOW I'M GOING TO LOSE MY MIND because they put up traffic cameras on that stretch that could ticket me when I speed."

No sympathy for irrational sorrows.

I'm just....going to straight up think that there's going to just be more of these threads popping up when not needed. Can it not all be contained in one thread? Jesus.

I don't think it's that irrational to recognize that there's been a clear shift in their approach to enforcement, even if their written policy hasn't changed.

I think a lot of people are just frustrated/fed-up with SE constantly picking relatively harmless targets to make an example out of (RP PFs, UI modders etc), but completely failing to address some of the genuinely harmful issues that plague the game (Player driven botting, prolonged stalking/harassment).

Twitch streams thrive on controversy. The streamers line their pockets while spamming this garbage everywhere. Hell they will even take a ban hit here or there. Their popularity rockets as a result.

When the devs fix the game, (hrothgar/viera hair and hats) I will consider the possibility that 3rd part tools are wrong.

But if we have to rely on third party tools to fix very basic things? Heck no.

And I get it. SE is a small indy company. But that means they should be thankful that these modders, many of whom are much more talented and skilled than they can afford to hire at this small indy company, for doing their job for them.

Srsly people taking issue with how unhinged some people on this forum are doesn't mean that they're '' virtue signaling '' and it also doesn't mean as I've seen a lot of others claim too that they're shills and '' defend everything '' etc.

People are just trying WAY too hard to be negative and angry about everything to the point that it is quite irrational.
A lot of the time people don't even know or even understand what they're mad about I lost count of the conspiracy theories and wrong ideas people had about what was wrong with the housing issue.

By all means genuine feedback and criticism is totally fine.

SE has never said "3rd party tools are wrong". They have said "3rd party tools are against the terms of service", along with "we aren't your parents, micromanaging your day to day in-game life choices ... Just. Don't. Get. Caught."

How do people get caught? By stupidly streaming a game using a 3rd party tool that results in appropriate repercussions, said game being run during the initial release of the latest Ultimate raid. When one of the raid team says, quite clearly, something to the effect of "I told you not to do it".

And I get it. SE is a large entertainment corporation, with much better things to do than police on-line behavior. Unless. It. Is. Shoved. In. Their. Face. to such an extent that to do nothing would be an indicator that "it's ok!"

As for your hairstyle ... good on you if you've found a 3rd party tool that 'fixes' it. Just don't submit any screenshots of your nice new hairstyle to SE for a photo competition. It'll be your little secret, because, well, SE aren't your parents.

Off topic, but people also get the same way with Island Sanctuary. They are 100% convinced that Island Sanctuary will have instanced housing, despite no confirmation of such, aside from the devs asking us to temper our expectations. I have a bad feeling this is gonna blow up, and people are gonna go on an even bigger whine fest when Island Sanctuary isn't what they expected, because people built up hyperbole and false expectations about its content. This fanbase has a problem.
