seriously. banning someone for using a party buff timer and a dps meter has got to be one of the dumbest things ive ever heard of. ive used mods like these when i used to play wow a long time ago and all it did was help me become a better player.

Yeah, I absolutely agree. Those mods that the Japanese streamer got banned for using don't help him gain any unfair advantage whatsoever. The TOS really needs to be revised in some way to allow for basic addons, or better yet, SE should just make their own addons.

changing the tos would be the better fix. if square enix took time away from working on other things in ff14 to work on making mods this community would be up in arms.

Let's be real everyone can still using those mods without getting ban, no need to pretend sqex gonna ban all add-on users now.

You just can't promote it on stream in front of thousand of viewers.

This game had things it could be doing better or some just want to simplify one aspect, like combos, because they enjoy the game more that way. That's all it is to me.

I have never used any addon for FF XIV, so I don't know what I lost or not. But, because of that, in my perspective it can be only win. Because now, when every addon is bannable, developers have are much more responsible for things that addons enriched the game. So graphics, chat bubbles, more UI skins, character poses and look (Viera, Hrothgar hats), etc. Because there is no solution outside game, now IMO this is developers responsibility to add to game what was lost. So people like me, that never used any extarnal tools, will get new cool features in games that never had.

Is it too much copium? Maybe.

There is no need for any third party program in FF14 and even in WoW the developer start thinking about to ban dbm and other third party programs because it is trivialize the game play.

Wait is using "bad" language bannable? I dont remember that. Not talking about gamer words, but just run of the mill cursing.

Again, they can't check your computer. So do whatever you want, just don't talk about it.

Pretty much this. It's the same as it has always been, don't flaunt your mods and you're good.
Btw, bards use a third party tool to play music, and i don't care what square's reasoning is, crack down on that and you're assholes.

Ill tell you what dps meters did...and it wasnt constructive either. Just the opposite.

You can play FF 14 w/out ANY addons, as opposed to needing them in WOW to compensate for its primitive 18 year old engine.

And when I put my markers on the head of enemies in CS the very same guys scream cheater. WTF mate, it's just a UI, doesn't effect your game!

Banning random streamers for using Act and UI mods is entirely performative and doesn't actually do anything to help combat illicit activity within the game. It just promotes and sanctions witch hunts.

But it's kind of SE's thing to take the laziest approach to solving problems lately so I'm genuinely not surprised.

If I cant set an ACT trigger to yell at me "nice bunny, idiot" when I fkc up a mudra, what's even the point of keeping the game running.

There is a chinese saying that goes kind of like this "shoot down one foe, to warn 100 others", and what kind of Person would be better suited to be the "1 foe", if not a Streamer?

It is more or less, just about getting the message across, to as many People as possible.

That only works if those foes believe you have the means to take them out aswell. If they believe it to be an empty threat, which realistically it is in this case, then you're just making a fool of yourself.

Their stance didn't change! They just repeated stuff. And finally admitted the UI sucks, so we should be thanking the UI modders - IF SE decides to actually reworks stuff. I assume its gonna take a long while tho :D

I play on PS5 and have never needed ANY of the mods/tools/add-ons/plugins.

Just a controller...and that's it.

The lack of understanding for the PC crowd to look at those players that actually don't use these tools, and yet can still play competently is beyond me. At least 4 of the people on my static play on PS5.

Now I would definitely LOVE some QoL updates and upgrade some of the UI's ability to display information. Or better yet the ability to provide more accessibility options like font size as I play in 4k on a 65" TV and I have to adjust the font size as I sit back about 15ft from it.

Out of all the things this game has....the UI was updated the least over the years. And it's starting to show it's age.

But it's not completely impossible to pass content with the current UI. And I don't need FFLOGs, I don't need ACT, I don't need the myriad of other add-on's or plug in's to make me better.

Acting like he's talking about Discord or whatever is just stupid as hell, I like Xenosys but when he went on a big tirade about it he really just came across like he was looking for something to complain about.

I've even seen people going '' wellk atajhthcually '' and bringing up how Youtube and guides on other sites are '' third party '' too the difference is that they don't interact in any way with the game.
Discord and Youtube are completely separate from the actual game they're not third party tools that are directly interacting with the game.

People are reaching so ultra hard just to be mad at the devs but this really should be incredibly obvious to anyone who's being even remotely even just slightly charitable and don't interpret what they said in the most ludicrously extreme way possible.
Same with parsing you're not going to get banned for it unless you harass people with it.

You're gaining an advantage a Playstation player cannot have.
It's literally cheating.

This isn't some offline single player game where what you do and what hacks you use only affect you. Your online actions affect everyone.

I would imagine this is causing alot of issues. If one image even looks like it has any form of lighting that could be a plugin even if it is the sun or moon minion people will mass report thanks to this spectacular PR from square. Even if you have a picture from 1.0 people could be using a mod that makes their game look like 1.0. I can see it now. Every video from when the moon fell being taken down for copyright because of this incompetents. Things can be blown out of proportion. Things can be edited, but I have a feeling people are going to get banned over dumb things that could be a plug in but are just flare for their twitch streams.

I started FF14 with no addons. Got used to it. Telegraphs is a country mile better than WoW. Bosses is so easy. Coming from WoW with lots of addons due to high end guild requirements.

All bosses just needs practice to learn their mechanics. Addon is not required.

You have an 88% uptime (meaning youre not pressing your buttons every 5-10thth GCD... meaning you're not doing something for 1/5th to 1/10th of the fight) and you fail to use your CDs roughly 25% of the time.

You might need someone to look over your groups performance and help you out.

Edit: Correction, you have an 83% uptime in your most recent fights, and you fail to use your CDs exactly 25% of the time.
