1500+ accounts terminated

We all make posts about when SE is doing something wrong but we also need to speak up when they are doing something right imo.

Well done SE, keep the ban hammer swinging

Agreed, live service game devs are in the unique position where they need constant feedback to improve the game. This means dealing with many mad irrational players. Reading through these forums I know that cant be fun.

I do wish we got more transparency from the dev team tho. Letting people know that hackers are being investigated or have been banned specifically for hacking might be good for public frustration.

I'm more interested in what they are doing about the cheaters.

They are tackling one side of the problem as for now, terminating the RMT rankers is a good start.
They show that they are looking at the problem and handling it hands on.
The hackers/Scripters will be dealt with too I hope, but this is a good start.

It's nice that they share how many of those are accounts that are just bots advertising. I keep reporting this pest and it never goes away but at least I know those 1500 are only a small portion of them.

They are more likely banning the workhorse accounts in which they just hand over all the items or whatever to an actual account before they get banned so they literally lose nothing. They just make another account and continue on.

The lack of distinction between RMT accounts and actual players who are cheating makes it difficult to ever tell if they're actually doing anything.

In all likelyhood, the single temporary suspension was the only player who got banned because they generally will not permaban someone instantly even for cheating.

1519 terminated, means 1519 perma bans.

As previously mentioned, the vast majority of that figure tends to be mass-created RMT farmbots as opposed to actual players.

They won't show mercy to accounts that are verifiably involved in some manner of large scale gil laundering scheme, but people cheating for personal reasons tend to get away with a slap on the wrist.

I know of a bunch of people who got suspended and removed from the Ishgard Restoration rankings a while back due to botting, but they just went back to business as usual in a more lowkey manner once they were able to play again.

It's good but honestly it's not enough.

they need to be much more visdible and frequent with the bans..

banning 1500 accounts once in a blue moon is no detterrant at all.. but if they were banning 1500 every week.. within a few weeks youd possibly banned 9,000 people but stopped maybe 90,000 cheating because there suddenly a big risk of being in next weeks 1500

See whats funny or maybe funny. Is the one account suspended is prob a real person buying in game stuff. You can't tell me it is only one person. They used to say number of suspended for "third party software" not sure of this was exact words. But it wouldn't even equal one player per server. Not to rain on anyone, but I would wager every gil that every server has at least one cheater or even more.




Also I suspect if they are serious about PvP cheating. There will be one big ban after the season and nothing during.

See these are speculations, you simple don't know what the 1500+ people the got their acc. terminated are. Bots real players etc.
Also if they are serious about the pvp they will do it mid season, use half of the season to gather reports and analyze them and then ban them during the season not afterwards.
Simply because of the fact that it will show people what will happen if they cheat and will make them think twice before doing it in this season or the next, making the experience during this season a better experience.

This is most likely just automated bans, if they cared they would hire more GMs to handle botting
but look these 3 are all the GMs SE has to handle botting for 9 data centers, majority of the bots I reported still continue to bot including the ones I reported years ago
