Housing Fix and Shell FC Concerns

Anyone else concerned about this? With my alt being in a legit FC that is 30 days old as of today, I think these shell FCs are going to shoot our chances of being able to upgrade from the small we won prior to 6.1.

The lack of private housing (which was a disaster in itself. SE, pull a covid scenario and add three wards to each district please) already ensured some would be made, but now this time frame has just put a nail in the coffin imo for a flood of them. And there's not been one word from SE on how to mitigate this (such as playtime for entry members). The Housing Resale discords are already talking about it. Something else besides 30 days needs to be implemented.

Pretty much shell/one person FC's and pretty much gold sellers and FCs that have bought up entire wards. It's frustrating because its obvious and flagrant.

How do you deviate what is a shell FC and what isn't. With this games player base and content cycle many players stop playing after the first couple of months an of expansion launch, with maybe brief moments of player base increases until around the last patch when many come back. My FC has gone from 30 players online everyday to 1 or 2 online every day. So this idea is basically punish those who take a break even harder than the current housing system does, and give houses to those who play and feel entitled to one a better chance. It also forces FC's to constantly recruit for fear that members may leave, or take breaks and cause the FC to lose there house.

Making more small tweeks to a broken housing system just makes it a more broken housing system. Everyone needs to hold out and see what island sanctuary ends up being and just chill. The housing situation is likely to never change, it sucks but if you feel you are being cheated out of content or paying a sub and not getting the full benefit of the game, than quit until it's fixes, which is likely never.

Yoshi P has already let us know to lower our expectations on the Private islands. Indicating he knows what the consumers want but is not willing to deliver. I would love for Private Islands to be a success but I think he wants it more to be a Lord of Verminion type of thing which is not what we want. Sort of like FFXV promising cool VR shooting content and what did they do? Focus on the aspect less then 1% of players have trophies for....fishing.

Square Enix is famous for under delivering unless there is an emergency. I'm still shocked they completely tore down FFXIV 1.0 and remade the game.

You go on to the JP section of this forum and tell them how you disagree with their playstyle.

@IdowhatIwant Not sure how you're getting this is punishing people that take a break. You come back from a break, you still have playtime so. If I take a break after ARR after 18 hours of in game play, and I come back after 6 months, I still have 18 hours of in game play. Resellers enter right now just by creating an account, from buying a story skip and creating an FC with three alts.

And you can easily tell a shell FC from a legit FC. There's only ever 4 members, and usually only one is 90 if any are at all. And everyone holding out for Housing Sanctuary to be some saving grace for housing I'm afraid is going to be disappointed. FC has stated for people not to get their hopes up on that.

2-4 members aren't necessarily a shell. It's a shell when it's 2-4 members below level 20 with no play time. So my point still stands.

I like fishing in games... But yeah I have very little hope in most things in this game any more.

Housing demolition, and meeting a artificial number to not be considered a shell FC. Not sure if you understand the demolition timer, you can't unsub 6 months once you have a house. Some one has to enter the house once every 45 days or so, whether that be the owner, FC member, or a house mate.(not 100% sure on the house mate one)

I have already lost a personal house in the past due to this system, as I assumed as long as I am subbed and log in every 45 days. Did not realize I had to enter the house.

Think there's been some misunderstanding here. I never mentioned an activity timer for FCs. I said playtime being a requirement to enter, as in you have to have played x amount of hours to enter the lotto, not a login requirement as with personal.

Yes, I think there was a misunderstanding.

@Big_Gap Still doesn't negate the point that a majority of NA shell FCs are 2-4 players below level 20 looking to buy the plot to flip it for gil. Just agree to disagree and move on.

There's no agreeing to disagree, you're just wrong. If you're not, link me all those FCs and how you came to the conclusion that the sole intent was to resell.

I think she's right. I made a FC with 5 members and 4 quit about a month later so I was afraid I was going to lose my FC so I made 4 other alts, farmers, to make sure time invested isn't lost. Today I am lv 90 with all crafter/gatherers at 90. My #1 alt is lv 90 with all crafters/gatherers 90, My #2 alt is lv 90 with 5 warrior retainers at 90 and a leather worker at 90 to make the mats the retainer's get. My #3 alt is lv 90 and has 5 botanist retainers she has a lv 90 carpenter to make her mats, my #4 alts is lv 90 and has 5 miners retainers and also has a lv 90 goldsmith to make it's mats. Since then I have recruited 3 but 2 have quit. I have no job so I can play them al daily and love doing so. I am not a shell and DayDreamer18 would agree. With my system is place I am rich and won a mansion but lost to a zero. Every week I get to do 5 custom deliveries and buy purple mats and make anything i want for free. That's how you make gil to buy a house

Correct, I would not consider you a shell FC. You have actual playtime in the game and you're making use of the FC, not purchasing them with three alts under level 20 with a nonsensical FC name and flipping it for gil. I have nothing against small FCs, my own falls in that category.
