PvP objectives require you actually be receiving hits to be interrupted. Guardian redirects the hits to the PLD which means you can't actually prevent covered players from interacting with tomeliths or the ovoo which is a huge oversight.
Maybe I have to use monk LB to interrupt next time, probably it works...
Frontlines in general is a mess now between the mentioned problem and the excess of powerful AoE causing people to abuse jobs like SCH, WHM, and SMN who can easily wipe entire alliances through DoT stacking or LB chaining, and it just snowballs because of the Battle High buffs.
Now what I see is PLD using Phalanx and Guard to prevent cc while using Guardian for easy ovoo claim... This is broken lol...
Cover has always prevented you from attacking someone interacting with ovoo’s and tomeliths, but in the past hallowed ground has not triggered on redirected damage. So I don’t know if that’s changed, otherwise this is nothing new. Other than I suppose that you can use guardian a lot more frequently than you could use cover.
Battle high has always been the biggest offender in terms of snowballing. Even more so now with summoner, dragoon, white mage, and to a lesser extent scholar stacking.
I feel these are somewhat overrated and some people definitely get a little too cocky and then get put in their place by a more cooperative and focused effort. I started off as SMN because that's my main. Now I'm wreaking havoc on AST when I have my people with me. :D
I've seen a Paladin and a Ninja do it on Onsal, the Paladin didn't even need someone to cover-LB him... Just Cover the Ninja and Guard. Even if the Paladin eats a Meteostrike it's enough time for the ninja to just cap while under 48 people fighting. I'm pretty sure the only reason Frontline is still open is so that the Garo event can still happen, and nothing else.
As long as they’re not guarding you can knock them back, the cover only works within 10y so enlightenment will push them out of range giving you a chance to interrupt the one on the node. They can move back but cover and hallowed both only last 10 seconds so interrupting them once is all it takes. Just be aware of guard, it only lasts 5 seconds, not long enough to take a node but if you waste your knockback during guard then you won’t have it when guard wears off.
Last GM I spoke with said it's not an intended interaction so you might as well report anyone exploiting it.
