Playing vs. 5 dps that coordinate well can melt teams if they target one down at the time GNB or not.
Luck of the draw.
So you don't get the cards dealt that you hoped for.
Play with what hand you are deatl, if you don't win play another round.
There shouldn't be so much RNG that some games I'm straight up playing a handicapped version of my job just because of pure luck.
Imagine going into a game in OW or LoL where you can't use one of your character's core abilities, ever. Not "You can't use it because it'll get countered", but "you can't use it because the ability literally doesn't exist on your hotbar anymore".
That's what playing GNB against 5 DPS is like. You're playing half a class.
rng can is cruel sometimes.
This level of RNG is unnecessarily cruel and doesn't help the game at all. There are many simple fixes that could avert this problem (like being able to Junction yourself).
It shouldn't stay in the game because "rng is cruel" or "that's just the luck of the draw".
Those are terrible excuses.
are they tho? because teams are randomly put together and there is no role slots to fill like pve.
GNB just feels like a slightly more durable DPS with no utility if it's forced to use DPS junction.
The extra survivability from tank/healer junction seem more practical when its LB encourages diving into the enemy team.
Tbh would gnb be op if they just removed the junction system and gave them nebula and blasting zone as 2 seperate buttons?
It's the 2nd worst tank as is anyways. this would help and be the exact same amount of buttons
Agreed. I was disappointed with the GNB changes in the patch, and I'm hoping they have planned changes that were simply outside of 6.11's scope.
I appreciate the FFVIII vibe they were going for with the kit, but the design in its present incarnation is fundamentally flawed.
GNB needs more of its tools baseline, with Junction just providing bonuses.
It would be much better if GNB can also draw from themselves, and teammates like BLU using Aetherial Mimicry.
Also, i think some buffs to survivalability and crowd control would make the class very flexible.
Oh hey, i just realized, we already got BLU in PVP!
BLU in PVP :
Honestly, and this is coming from someone who has only played GNB, I think you just aren't playing like a DPS when forced into DPS Junction. What I mean by that is GNB can push out a LOT of damage, both in DPS stance or Tank stance, but in DPS stance it can push out a targeted 26k burst in roughly a single GCD with Rough Divide > Double Down > Blasting Zone. Not a lot of jobs, let alone DPS, can snapshot that much damage in a short time frame not including LB's. With the almost 100% uptime on the speed boost from Rough Divide, when you are forced into DPS stance you have to play more like a guerrilla warfare fighter than a tank. Dive in, burst and hopefully secure a kill, speed boost out, rinse and repeat.
Now I will least agree that it would be nice if there was some sustain on GNB regardless of stance, like 50% life steal on Double Down or something. However, in the end it usually comes down to team skill vs team skill, even if you are against 5 DPS. If you can call targets, your 26k snapshot with any amount of damage from your teammates can usually insta kill if the damage or CC is there.
On a personal level, when it comes to crowd control, the more I think about it, the more I don't really want it. There is already a metric ton of crowd control in the mode, and I don't really want anymore tbh. IF they make GNB the equivalent of "my utility is my damage" I think I would be happy with that. As I stated earlier, I think a tiny bit of life steal regardless of stance would go a long way, but since the recent update I have been able to finally climb the Crystal ladder, something I could not have seen myself doing before.
