Tab Targeting is broken, please fix.

Trying to get an enemy targeted with pushing Tab is horribly broken and need to be reworked, or at last prioritize enemies that are actually in attack range, its so annoying when you try to attack anyone and you keep getting enemies into target you can't attack because they are out of range.

Also prioritize enemies that are directly infront of you and not someone standing 30 meters away and is barely on the screen.

It is the same problem in PvE but less chaotic.

Don't use tab target, move your team window and enemy window close to the middle and target that way works better.

Change your targetting priority to cone instead of "ignore depth" or whatever it is by default that basically tends to go from left to right instead of front to back.
Also you can bind (or macro) another button that targets the closest enemy. Warmly suggested you use that if you want to get someone who's right on your face or if you want to reset your tab target back to frontal foes instead of pressing esc or cancel.

And how can i move the enemy party around? It wont let me select it in the UI options.

System - HUD Layout - Duty.
Able to change in Wolves Den I believe or in match.

Tab target in this game have always been bad

What really needs a rework are nameplates. No clear bounding boxes and no stacking makes for absolute misery when trying to visually select anything.

First of all, as others have said, move your team frames for easier access and readability.
This can be done by opening your HUD Layout and selecting Duty.

Second, the Tab setup that's worked the best for me looks like this:
Under Character Configuration -> Control Settings -> Target Tab, change Target Type to Cone.

Under Keybind -> Targeting tab, bind Target Nearest Enemy to Tab, and bind Cycle through Enemies (Nearest to Farthest) to Shift+Tab.

You can then easily select the closest enemy to you (which is a godsend in the early poke battles),
and once you have them selected, Shift+Tab will cycle your target away from them based on distance,
so if there are two enemies on the point and the one you're targeting puts up Guard, you can easily Shift+Tab to their friend.

Thx I'll try that. Im just too used to target with Tab and it just feels completly random what enemy i get with it.

Trust me, I had exactly the same experience. My setup is the solution I worked out after pulling my hair out in my first dozen or so CC matches.
I'd have two melee DPS right in front of my face and I'd hit Tab and it would select the SCH behind a wall 40 yalms away.
Once I made those changes and did a few casual matches to get used to it, I never felt like targeting was a problem again.
Click your frames for specific focus targeting and use Tab/Shift+Tab for snappier dynamic targeting

As someone mentioned, the "target closest enemy" keybind is blank by default, so you could set it to any key you like. I leave tab as it is for PvE, and have 'R' set as target closes, which works well for me. Though the idea of making Tab target closest and R what tab used to do has a certain appeal, I may try that later.

After seeing the cone target mentioned here I went off the deepend in terms of targeting and while I don't know the rules of providing third party links here, If you look up cone targeting ffxiv you should be able to find SaltedFFXIV's guide to targeting which shows that there a TON of options for keybinds and such in the menu such as:

Target Last Target

Targets the last target you previously selected. This includes both allies and enemies. If two targets have been chosen in succession. Repeatedly executing it will bounce between the two targets.

Target Last Enemy

Targets the last enemy you previously selected. Can only go back to the latest enemy.
