Trick Bookshelf Partition

Can this be clicked to open instead of opening automatically? It's a very nice set piece but that's my only complaint about it. You can't walk up to it as a bookshelf because it just opens. And it defeats the surprise of it being Trick when you show it off to people!

On a side note, why doesn't it match the mounted bookshelfs? That makes me sad Q_Q
(they are shorter and undyable)

Not to mention, you can walk right through partitions such as the Factory one that actually stays closed/open unless you click on it... but you can walk right through it when it's closed.

It would be nice for some access control.

Sorry to disagree, but personally I like it as it is (opening automatically). Also if it changed to manual open/close then it'll get one of those ugly arrows which I know I can turn off, but everyone visiting would see it unless they also turned them off.

But I also wish that it matched the other book cases (being the same height). Possibly it was done that way so it hits the ceiling and conceals the fact it's actually a wall/door, but it'd be nice if they both matched in height.

Visitors don't see arrows.
Unless they are a tenant with housing permissions you can't interact with uh, interactables.

I thought if it was in a FC house then the entire FC sees them? (because they can interact with summoning bells or food plates so what would make this any different?)

But regardless, sorry I still stand by my original statement that I prefer them as they are, automatically opening.

Not tried it yet (zero-bug winner) but maybe if there are lofts as steps under the bookshelves... Mockup in a small Mist using Makeplace

The problem with the trick partition is it's still easy to spot because it's divided in 4 vertically instead of in 2. Unless someone isn't aware it exists, visitors will know it's there.

I wonder if SE could update the Mounted Bookshelf to match visually without causing problems in houses where they've already been placed.

Actually visitors cannot interact with anything in your house. Only FC members and tenants. So making it clickable would effectively make it unusable for visitors. That being said. I don't care at all about the trick portion. I've been wanting a dyable version of the mounted bookshelf which it is but the trick portion is actually annoying me

There is one exception- the message book. If it's possible with that, then it should be possible for other items.

But it would likely open a can of worms as players argue over what visitors should be allowed to interact with.

Overlap the mounted to turn them into equally sized divisions? I haven't played with that yet as I just built the trick one into the wall for our exit, but I can mess around with it and see if it works out.

Trick bookshelves :O I need to log on see this before I crash for a nap lol

It's also impossible to dye them the right color to match the mounted bookshelf :(
