Crystal Tower Complaint Thred 51234

I am getting so sick of the ilvl cheese to always get crystal tower raids. I hate having to run the same raids in roullette just cause someone wants to turn off their brain. Maybe one day Square Enix will fix this, but probably not.

You're going to get Crystal Tower most of the time regardless because it is the only Alliance raid everyone queuing for Alliance roulette is guaranteed to have unlocked, not to mention there's a high chance you're going to get matched to a player doing it for the first time for MSQ.

If you're tired of getting it, don't queue for Alliance roulette. There are plenty of XP and tomestone sources to choose from other than Alliance roulette. Direct queue for the Alliance raid you want to do if you're specifically in the mood for one.

I don't expect SE to do anything about it because it would be a complicated mess to program and they don't like to micromanage player content choices. While I think moving it to MSQ roulette would be a decent solution since it's now mandatory, I imagine because matchmaking for Alliance is different from a 4 man or 8 man there would be problems with queues.

I begrudgingly queued for it until everything was level 90, now I don't queue for it at all. Tomes and exp are incredibly easy to get elsewhere so I only queue for alliances directly.

I specifically queue with the 80/90's in case there's some idiot who forgot to take their gear off. Always a joy to see them drop the raid and get someone else who might actually be interested.

Even without ilvl cheese, it's still the most likely alliance raid you'll get for the combined reasons of it's the first one and it's the only mandatory one at this point.

ilvl cheese certainly is an issue, but you'd still be more likely to get CT than other ones even without it.

I've suggested this before and I'll say it again.
Make CT into it's own roulette just like the two MSQ dungeons.
Then the rest of alliance raid stays in the current roulette.

That only segregates the community even more and the people who cheese CT would do the same with the next lowest alliance. That would only shift the problem.

I don't think it would segregate the community. Most players would be happy to get an extra roulette with an extra XP bonus.

But lower level doesn't necessarily mean easier difficulty, which is generally the reason for the cheese. How do players view doing Sky Pirates versus Ivalice when it comes to difficulty at level sync?

So why don't we always get Sastasha for levelling roulette? Why not Ifrit (Hard) for trial roulette? I don't remember the last time I got either of those. People forcing their ilevel lower is what's making it come up so often. Yes they'll statistically be the most common because that's just how numbers work, but getting it 6 out of 7 days of the week doesn't add up when it's 1/4 of the total raids.

Tried queuing for Orbonne today as a DPS and the queue said more than 30 minutes. Got a healer friend to queue with me and it still said at least 20 minutes, and I didn't have time to wait that long (or longer) and also do the raid on top of that. I tried to queue for the one I wanted, but everyone is forcing CT in roulettes so it's heavily skewed towards that and leaves everything else empty.

Because there are a lot more dungeons in leveling roulette than raid wings in Alliance roulette and it only requires 4 players to create a party instead of 24. Players rarely stop their MSQ progress as early as Ifrit.

What are the chances that out of all the players waiting to do dungeons (whether direct queue or roulette), one of the 3 other players you're matched to will only have Satasha unlocked? Pretty small.


Players frequently do stop their Alliance raid progress at Crystal Tower because the rest are not mandatory for MSQ and anyone on the free trial will only have access to Crystal Tower and Sky Pirates (if they've even unlocked Sky Pirates).

It's not how many total raids there are in the game that matters. It's what percentage of players queueing for Alliance raids have all those raids unlocked. It won't matter what you have unlocked if you get matched in queue to 3 of my characters that only have CT unlocked. You're going to be stuck in CT.

And even among people who unlock all content, you can get frozen out of the more fun raids if you get matched with someone leveling a lower level class. I have everything unlocked, and i love the later alliance raids. But my astro is only at like 54. If i que in with astro, then the 23 people i get matched to WILL get CT even though i would rather be in a later raid.

Ones stepping on platform before rest of raid gets there and starts it before there is at least 4 for each area's pads. They need to get rid of the pads for the crystal tower raid.

The only issue with the Alliance Raid roulette is just when the content loses any and all difficulty because people will just stop paying attention to their screens at that point...
