Suggestion for slower the guildleve reset time, and prize better rewards.

I think that 36 hours per guildleve reset make this game bad, because everybody busy doing guildleve and have no time for anything else such as free roalming/ adventure/ or etc.

Consider the time to finish just 8 leves in party is around 4-5 hours. Eventho people only do broken water area, it still take 2-3 hours. and not to mention local leve + walking time will cost around 4-5 hours too. (in case that you can only warp to 2 cities and walk for all camps)
so every one and a half days, players want to get full benefit by doing all the leves every reset, and this consume their time for about 10 hours. I don't think any casual-average players have enough time to finish them all, and end up have no time for anything else. Thus, they can only experience the same routine guildleve again and again, and feel no enjoyment by doing it.

In MMO, even if players not enjoy doing so, most players will still do whatever that give best rewards, and that is leves, so it is semi-forcing everybody to follow. I think this 10 hours per 36 hours is kidda too much. and I would like to suggest change it to 60 hours per reset or 72 hours per reset. in exchange guildleve should give boost more on SP/money/guildmark. This is all so that players will have more free time to do something else and not feel too bad toward this game.

I m (quite) hardcore players (look at my rank in signature) but I m all for speak for most of my friends. I always see they doing guildleve whenever they log in, and have no time for anything else. and they even said they feel so bored on it. Most of them barely have time to finish all 16 leves, although they play 4-5 hours per day, which should be the expect play time from average players.

I think Leves are fine the way they are, what I think SE needs to do is add alot more options to level.

Grouping
-They need to make normal mobs worth killing in groups. Basically the same sp as leves without the faction credits and gil.
-Make faction dropped gear better and add maby higher tiered nms. Say like a mega boss after you kill the 3 existing nms which drops some really good gear. Make it where although grouping on normal mobs is equally as good SP you have to do leves (with the casuals) to be able to do the faction Bosses.
-Add Dungeons as a way to level for groups.

Soloing:
-Add some Defense battles like Campaign
-Add maby some kind of Solo activity where you have accomplish a variety of task, maby similar to multi stage Leve with a mini boss or something.
-Maby several daily quest or something where it rewards you some SP wit a sp scroll, similar to the ones in FFXI. (you can get them with faction credits, adds a limiting factor so people do not only Solo quest to endgame, also keeps ppl doing leves)

basically keep leves as a primary source, add alot more equally as good options but link important things to faction credits so people do not stop doing them completely. That would be mu suggestion to SE.

the part that takes the longest i think is just making the party and getting full links picked out prior to heading out. after that the actual leves, u can 2star or 3 if u want to and u'll be done with all the good ones even if u do 2 of each of them in an hour or 2 tops. really no point at this point to do more then 2star and no point in doing any other then the best handfull and defenetly no point in doing less then full links(maybe 3-4links ok since good ones)

and at this point anyone doing leves that is doing them for good sp is saving/abandoning the good ones. so shouting for people with them and doing those only is a little faster now, but still empty servers make it a pain.

if u have a static with all the right ones picked out, u won't waist more then 2hour doing all of limsa and all of uldah good leves X2 each the best ones. bam bam done done. but i'd have to say i dont' like it like this one bit. i like the sp, i hate the method that we need to do to get good sp. they need to fix it so we not doing all of this b4 we start leves, i want to do grab and go and done.

i'm 50 50 on what u'r saying, i like regular grinding mobs more then leves, way more, i hate the time inbetween them, i hate the grouping up for them, i hate the anima waisting and runnings. ffxi grinding is my favorite type of grind, i can make a party 20-60mins or whatever to get going be at a camp, and i'm keep it running for 8-16hrs. just replacing people as they leave, and in ffxi not as many replacements as u would think. waaay to many casual in other games. that is a thing they need fix as well, the ease of replacement of people. i want to party with the server not just a hardcore group of players that i know won't shit out on me in one hour.

I don't think SE should reward those free roaming to be equal to leves, because of the following :

1. SE said at the beginning that they want leve to be a "quick boost" for casual players to easily catch up with hardcore players. Basically, leves should be able to allow players who log in only few hours aday to get quick major SP/Exp. (however, as it stand now, it take too much time to let any casual players finish them.)
2. Leves is limited, while free roaming is not. So it should be that everybody do leves first, and then they should have a lot of remaining time enough to start free roaming or item hunting for extra exp and adventure experience. (So this is why I think leves should have slower reset)

Nowadays, most players play style is similar to this :
-Day 1 = LQ leves broken water + local leves. (total 3-4 hours)
-Day 2 = finish the remaining leves, walk around. (total 3-4 hours)
*(leve reset)*
-Back to day 1.

The ideal should be :
-Day 1 = LQ battle leves x 8 and not only at Uldah, leves in other cities should have equal rewards to Uldah ones. (should finish within 4 hours)
-Day 2 = crafts leves x 8, and have sometimes to walk arounds chating with LS. (should finish within 4 hours)
-Day 3 = free activity days. free roaming, hunting, NM, normal crafts, interaction, etc. (it is important to have time for this!)

-back to Day-1.


Actually, most people nowadays even try to cut their boring leves time by only doing broken water, and always stay at Uldah. Even so, it is still not enough time for casual to finish them every reset. This should change.

I agree with several points mentioned by Alise, Weeble and Xatsh.

1. I also feel that 36 hours for leves may be too short. In the past the timer used to be 48 hours. Maybe people complained about it being too long back then because at the time there was not much else to do besides leves.. so it was changed to 36.. But yea, these days it does feel like all we have time to do is guildleves (I'm talking mostly about battle leves).. They are not even fun to do. They are repetitive and boring. Which brings me to #2.
2. We are kinda forced to do battle leves, as one of you mentioned. Why? Because SPing outside leves isn't as good. Regular SP parties are not encouraged. I'm not saying it's not possible. But you get much more SP from a leve party with links than a regular SP party. Now, as one you mentioned, we could do our leve parties, then do regular SP parties.. but again, 36 hour reset.. Once we finish the battle leves.. assuming we also have to do our crafting and DoL.. and other things like NMs.. that barely gives us time to do anything.
3. I think they should boost SP gain from regular parties. Make it a viable alternative to leves. This way we are not forced to do leves. I also like my regular SP groups as in FFXI.
4. Another idea, instead of giving us 8 battle leves to do. Why not reduce the number to say 4 and make them harder and more interesting. This way

• We can maybe do all our leves at 1 or 2 camps instead of having to waste time and anima travelling all over the place.

• Maybe make the leves more dungeon like.. More challenging. More fun. More mobs to kill but in the end around same SP that 8 leves would give us.

I also find that most of the time me and my friends would log on, pick up locals from all the cities, do them then gather up for levelinks. Just the crafting takes about over an hour then another hour or two to finish all the battle leves. Then they log off. I do hope that the resets are lengthened but with the sp increased so that the same sp is gained overall, because we all get pretty bored when we can't do much else ...

reset every 2 days was pretty good, because if you didn't log on on some days, you might have missed a reset since reset alternates between 1 day and 2 days (though it is 36hours some of us can NEVER log on at certain times of the day due to work/school, reducing it to this.)

I just read the OP but I agree with your idea but big problem is there is completely nothing else to do !!!! So people would be pissed and bored to death including myself. I love to adventure and learn new zones so I been pretty much everywhere I can go in game atm.

In my experience, being a casual player, 36 hours is a short time to complete all my leves. I would certainly be in favor of increasing it to 48. To the hardcore that finish everything in a few hours, I can only sympathize. However it is, someone will be inconvenienced until they give us all more to do. But after that arrives, it would certainly make more sense to increase the leve reset. How could anyone enjoy new content if there is no time between leve resets to do it?

i been waisting my leves, i only do the good ones or max all 6 from rank 40, or 6 from 30's and i never end up using the extra's. seems like a lot of waisted sp i could of had but guess running to anywhere for 1 or 2 leves always seemed to me like a bigger time waist then anything. guess when game comes back on i'll try make use of them lol.

... i dont' mind about lq just give other method that more excite to make sp pt group -3-...now i feel like final 13 kill bigass turtle for make fast sp only... do only loop lq that so boring....

I didn´t read through all this but as far as I got the discussion you look for a possibility to change the way to level/rank-up in FFXIV.

Sure it´s somehow very boring these days to level/rank-up. Either you do Levequests with a party/solo. Or go and "hunt" (not really sure if you can call it so) some coblyn/doblyn.

So at the moment SE give us 2 possibilitys to level/rank-up on a fast pace. Good it´s not what most likely most of you know from FFXI (like me ^^) and it shouldn´t be the maximum SE can get out of his figthing and leveling system.

I mean I would like to push at least 2-3 more jobs to r50 but it´s damn boring. 2 possibilitys to rank up are a bit to less in my opinion. So I agree that they need to implement a much bigger variety of things for us to do and also maybe gain some points or gear from it.

About the point to increase the actual time for the levequest to reset I´m not certain. A small increase in the time could help but 72 hours is a bit too much in my opinion. Sometimes I feel like it´s too much at once to do but then other days I´m like . . .: Allready done? Fine 36 hours of doing nothing. So not pro and not contra for it ^^. Let´s say I´m undecided yet in this.

I always try to do as much LQ as I can ... but 1 day is not enough

(Eg. I need to do LQ and then go out to find sum mats for cooking and come back to do other stuffs like fishing or botany

I think the point everyone is misisng here is that LQ were made to help casuals, not give them a massive boost. If your in a position that you can't finish every leave every cycle then that is ok because that puts you in teh casucal category and your not required to level as fast as hard core players. If you do all leves on CD your getting pretty close to the fatigued anyway pre 30 so your not really missing much to be at the same level as the hard cores either way. If your casual you should not be worried about falling behind on leves because that is what happens to casuals. Basically your looking for a game were you have a soft cap on xp for less than 10 hours of play a week. I know SE wants XIV to be more casual friendly but I think that asking to reach the "soft" caped on about 10 hours a week is going a little too far. (As for anima, if your casual you can blow anima for every leve and still not go in the hole so that takes time off there.) If you want to play a game where you can finish everything in a couple of hours a week, I dont' think an FF title is what your looking for.

Granted this all comes down to a difference in opinion, but I think hard core guys that play 40 ish hours a week get to cap out on something in 4-6 ish months. Nothing wrong with casuals capping out in 8+, that is part of the difference, if not then the hardcore guys will get all pissed cause they are not getting rewarded enough for putting in more.

I m all for lengthen the leves reset time or just reduce it to have 4 leves per reset. It take too long to finish and now this only benefit hardcore players who had 10 hours per reset, it is not for us casual who play only 3-4 hours per reset at all.

at the moment what else is there to do other than NM/Leve/behest really... i can blow through leves in a few hours... then i have what 30 hrs of waiting. IMO shorter time would be better.. ie 24 hrs. if you cant do em in 24 hours... tough cookies

@ArtworkGnome, your post above just mention that you could finish them in 6 hours and then have 30 hours of waiting... that mean you are playing this game for 24/7. Thus, leve is not for you, you should just go do something else like free roaming or rare hunting. Leve is made for casual players, and SE state this in so many interview!

note: altho I don't really believe of how you could finsih 8+8 leves in 6 hours anyway, even hardcore players I know always took around 8-10 hours depend on how long they need to walk/wait, chat, and abort between leves.

I also usually end up completing all my leves in a few hours, and end up doing SP grind parties for the remaining amount of time. I know everyone says they are supposed to be for casual players, but it's not like the hardcore players should ignore them, we want as much SP as possible in the shortest amount of time. Thus I completely agree with ArtworkGnome, and would love for a 24 hour reset timer. If you can't finish it, then thats that. I don't think we should downgrade the leves to a slower pace, just so the casuals can catch up. Seems unfair to the more hardcore players.

Im kinda for this, also would like to see alot more random (but good) rewards
in terms of items / possibly more rare items.

I'd like to see the original 48 hour timer. Plus, more leve variety. The leves currently are sooo repetitive.

Im not timing myself or on 24/7 but yes i think it should be a 24hr cool down it really doesnt take a hell of a long time to finish leves and i def. dont need a day and half. why not a 24hr reset? because you dont play enough to get back on the next day?? like i said.. tough luck

Edit: ive been in leve parties with 3 or 4 people with 8 leves and finished all of them (ignoring behests) in way less than 8 hrs. leves generally only take 10-15 min grouped.
4 ppl x 8 leves= 32 / 1/4 hr= 8 hrs. at 15 min a leve. some take far less and if you dont wanna do 32 then dont go do you damn crafting leves who cares. i would like the freedom of being able to do leves everyday and leveling the way i want... I.E removing fatigue. the casual players can play "Casually" just because they dont want to play every day doesnt mean the rest of the playerbase should suffer? agreed?

I feel the complete opposite, I manage to do my 8 leves (battle leves) easily, the majority of the time sink is running either from city to city or from aetheryte to aethryte. (so chocobo's, can I have it ?)

Crafting leves shouldn't be calculated into this as some people don't want to craft, so where as someone who does all 16 leves may find it hard to do them in 36 hours (I can't imagine how mind you) someone who chooses not to do crafting leves would end up with time where they are doing nothing and become very bored.

I suggest making leves reset 36 (or maybe 24) hours from the time they are completed/failed, which would mean individual reset times per leve, make it so that players can log in and complete leves anytime they like with no pressure to complete them before they run out of time.

I would also suggest maybe increasing the amount of leves a player can take to 10 or 12, perhaps reduce the amount of sp gain though, we need more to do in this game, once leves are exhausted there is very little to do, especially if you don't like grinding.

Well, before when the party size could be 15 players and you still got awesome sp, I agreed that 36hrs was a good amount of time til next reset. Back then you could be out there for hours doing guildleves, and maybe even join a different group after because people didnt really care if you had leves or not (at least on my server).
Now, with the limit shifted to 8 people, and 4 people for small groups. the amount of time you spend doing guildleves is greatly reduced. at most 2 hours now with a small group and you are done with guildleves. 3-4 hours with 8 people. That leaves us with a 32 or so hour wait.
Even local leves are done much faster so that 36 hours is too long of a wait, especially since local leves don't really give higher SP now.

Given these changes, I think the Leve reset time should be shifted down to a normal 24 hours.
Or allow us to take more guildleves and local leves at once, at least 12 per reset, and increasing the amout of leves offered in each camp to 4. also splitting Fieldcraft leves into their own section so that we may take those along with the 12 battlecraft leves or 8 on a 24hr reset.

/agreed who could it hurt? the "casual" player? there are leves available for them every day.. even if they started awhile ago and arnt 50 people already beat them to 50... theyre gonna level just as slow no matter what. an the feildcraft i agree with there is no point in lvling a feild craft with leves when i could use those leves for say Conj.

I m talking about hardcore here, most of my LS got a lot of R50s, and they just log in -> regional leve-> craft leve-> log off -> rant about game system on forum like many around this forum. It dis-motivate people to do free roaming and really need to be slower reset or just get nerfed.
-but "slower reset" method will help casual, while "nerfed SP" method only hurts both. so it is better to choose "Slower reset" method.

The current SP rates are fine IF they go back to to the original reset timers. And I say this as someone who only plays on average about an hour or two per night.

Some of you are forgeting that for us to go out and kill free roaming monsters there has to be a good enough reason to do so, as it stands the current SP system sucks and thats why people prefer doing guildleves. (path of least resistance and all that BS)

I can easily understand people loggin in only to do their leves and then logging off and thats because there is no other content at the moment, grinding monsters is a last resort for most people and it gets extremely tedious after a while.

I doubt the "hardcore" players want to just grind monsters all day... thats pretty dry. its not just about how much time the player has available its what they want to do with that time. I personally do not want to grind monsters to level thats pretty gay. Hense the shorter leve timer

You are saying that players don't want to grind mobs all day, and yet you are saying to reduce the leve timer, which would mean spamming leves everyday.. I don't see the difference..(except that leves give better sp).. Kill mobs .. rinse and repeat.. Boring.


Funny that some people want the leve timer to be lengthened and some want it shorter.. If they do end up changing it, there will be unhappy people either way.

I can see the hardcore player not agreeing to an increase in the leve timer.. But a hardcore player will still have the option of grinding on regular mobs in between leves, and he'll still be doing that even if the timer is increased. What can be done though is increase SP from regular mobs a bit more.

Also there needs to be way more mobs to grind on than Raptors..

I never grinded on normal field mobs to rank up, and i still made it to 50. and it doesn't have to be a local leve or a gathering leve to craft and gather in the spare time, grinding on field mobs is rather pointless unless you need certain mats.
Right now, the current change in party size HELPS the casual player. try a 4 man party and see how wicked sic the sp is. It is much easier to find 3 other people than 14 other people, so wait times for parties is reduced as well. Making any of the changes i mentioned wont break the game for anyone. And according to the players poll, 58% of voters spend most of their time battling. So why not increase the amount of leves we can do per reset or decrease the reset wait time?

Well its a rare thing to please everyone :P

In all honesty though SE would be better off listening to the hardcore gamer IMO as they are the ones playing the game the most and tend to stick with it for the long term.

Casual players on the other hand play for a few hours a day and tend to leave when the next best thing pops up.

If Casuals don't want to play long hours then thats fine, but hardcore shouldn't have to pay the price for that.

I dislike that our guildleve reset is based on server timers. I'd rather they be reset based on player timers. This worked well in FFXI with Assault. I can get my token at exactly the same time from the last time I used it (24 hrs), which words best for people with consistent schedules. Having to plan our time around these timers set by the server really allows us to have very little freedom. I mean it's like I have to do leves within a few hours after the reset to have a group to go with. Otherwise most people will have done their leves by the next day.

Not really, nowadays, casual players trend to have more money to pay than hardcore one. (look at Nintendo Wii for example) One of my friends rarely play MMO, but he pay month fee every month without any issue. And since those play so slow, they have less complain and they pay the fee for longer lol.

I don't see how you guys are blowing through leves and doing them so fast that you have 30 hours to wait <_<

I play pretty much all day for 12+ hours a day and I get 1 free day every 2 days to do something besides leves ._.

The leve reset timer is waaay too fast even for someone hardcore. Are you people soloing leves or something? I'm leve linking BW/halatali/levinshower leves and that takes pretty much 4-6 hours to do @_@

I wanna do stuff besides leves but I rarely get time to...
