Thank you for the heads-up.
How would u read this?
Im not sure if it means at a later date than 6.11 or if it mean at a later date than today?
"To ensure the lottery system is fully stable, however, the related fixes and data restoration will not be included in Patch 6.11, but will instead be implemented in a separate maintenance at a later date"
Yeah, I can seriously see that happening lol
This is a positive update. I'm glad to see they're taking such care to address fixes and clearly communicating that it may take more time than originally thought, as such things often do. For me, simply knowing they have records, and probably back-ups of back-ups of those records, available and will apply the correct data to the housing server when the time comes is sufficiently comforting to make the wait easy. I'd much, much, rather wait an extra week or so on top of the current wait time if it means the results are properly applied.
I've waited for years, what's another week or two?
Indeed. I'm sure everyone would agree that we all want to see them do this right. Not holding my breath for it, but hopeful. I'd rather they take the time and fix it rather than band-aid it. They have other issues that need to be addressed with housing, and hope they take the next steps for it as well (shell FC, instancing, etc. - long shot I know).
No new housing untill the thing is fixed, which is only fair for those who won and got the 0 bug.
It is fair, and don't be negative about it, it is actually nice seeing devs doing this kind of stuff, which would be a lack in certain other games.
The one thing lottery did do (other than address the need to click a placard for 12 hours against bots) is that it gave actual data to SE developers on demand. For example, I counted up by hand the demand for large houses on my server. There were about 470 bids on 36 larges. That gives a real data point for SE. Players had nearly 5 days to place a bid (if they had the gil) for a private large plot. 470 bids with 36 winners. That leaves the server short about 430 larges. Each server has 720 larges on it. Sure, many are now FC only wards going forward. But it shows that they'd need about 14 more private wards just to cover the current demand for large plots.
I didn't check mediums or smalls - but they have these data points now. Who knows - maybe they thought each server needed 80 new wards to handle demand. Maybe they don't need 80. Maybe it is a small enough number that they can plan new hardware and software to cover this in the future.
The lottery gives them an idea but it's still not that accurate an idea.
How many bids were from those trying to relocate?
How many players want larges and have the gil for larges but didn't want to deal with the increased competition so chose to go after a medium or small for the sake of getting a house at all?
How many players do not want a house in Empyreum and chose to wait to see what becomes available in the other housing districts?
How many players want a house but are still saving gil to be able to afford one?
How many new players will be added to the game over the next several months that also wish to get a house?
It also doesn't help them much when the populations are different on each world. Trying to gauge demand from a world with 20,000 characters eligible to participate isn't going to help you figure out demand on world with 35,000 eligible. Demand on worlds with heavily raid focused communities with fewer players interested in housing won't tell them what the demand is on the RP focused worlds where more players want housing (and frequently for multiple characters).
