Time to Update The Triple Triad Card Gathering Options?

Hello.

I would like some feedback relating having fun gathering triple triad, and if my views are universal or not.

My experience, the current card gathering are meant as a way to not only introduce you to the different content, but also show mastery of it. However, some of this has not aged well, but could be hot fixed rather quickly. Overall I recommend lowering the level from mastery to introduction, and allow for more triple triad play instead.

RNG dungeon content:
Currently there are many many cards that can be gathered through dungeons and card challenges across the world. Some cards however are exclusively gathered from dungeons alone. Some even require RNG from the very hardest dungeons. This is especially difficult for older dungeons few do anymore (like shadowbringer savage).

Solution:
Create NPCs that can be played for these dungeon exclusive cards. These NPCs would be unlocked at the same time you unlock the normal version of said dungeon.

Beast tribes:
There are two that comes to mind, the moogle and dwarves. Both of these are crafting beast tribes which also requires you to have crafting at hand. Beast tribes are mostly a thing of the past, but still allow unlocking certain content like mounts, housing items or cards. The oldest tribes takes many months to unlock.

Solution:
Increase the reputation gained significantly. Alternatively allow for playing the NPC that unlocks at full beast reputation to be played at a much lower level.

Blue Mage:
Blue mage is a separate adventure open world exploration and skill replication.

Solution:
Add an new NPC you can play for all cards after unlocking the first skills through totems. Make the cards purchasable for gil at the old completion level.

Eureka:
A separate adventure allowing you to "start over" with your current character in a different world.

Solution:
Add an new NPC you can play for all cards after unlocking the second dungeon.

Bozjan:
A leveling zone. It was meant as a decent way to level solo, possible for dpses having a hard time getting queue content.

Solution:
Add an new NPC you can play for all cards after completing the first dungeon (the one currently only allowing 2 cards to be won). Make the cards purchasable for bozjan coins at the old completion level.

If all else fails:
A very quick way to fix this is by having all of these cards purchasable at the golden saucer or unlockable by playing games there.

Sometimes i want to relax in game with activities that are not battle related..
So.. often i go on with the collection of the cards.. Problem is that A LOT of them are tied to extreme and wathsoever..

For god sake PLEASE let casuals a way to get them just playing the TT game.

Agreed. TT is supposed to be a super casual side activity. I totally get having to play OP NPCs and spend loads on MGP for cards, but locking cards behind such a wide variety of battle content and low dungeon/boss drop rates seems very much at odds with the concept. (Been there, done that, got the mount, and a lot of it sucked.)

If anything, the card attached to MM EX needs a different way to obtain. I got it, but it took almost 100 runs. Can be tough to find long running parties to grind for it because there's not much reward other then dyable job gear.

It's fine to not have everything!

Am sure your collection is amazing even without the EX cards ^^

Just because Triple Triad is casual side content, doesn't mean the completionist aspect of it has to be just as casual. Players who casually play TT can make plenty of decks that work well, without having 100% of the cards.

The increase to the TT card rates from NPC's was a huge positive and I had a lot of fun going through them 1 by 1, unlocking quests if necessary and building my collection.

...Then I got the part where you need a bunch of low droprate cards from dungeons, EX's and raids and lost interest again. I could do it no problem if I wanted to, I've farmed EX for mounts before, but it's just not worth it for a side activity that I would rather relax with.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with cards coming from battle content on principal. I just think it's stupid that some of the drops rates are so incredibly low. It should not take potentially dozens of dungeon runs or boss kills to get a card.

They should definitely unlink Varis and G-Warrior from EX content though. That's just mean.

I can see it being annoying to farm Varis EX, even though unsync should make it easy enough, simply because the trial doesn't have any rewards past dyeable AF.
On the other hand, G-Warrior isn't even a drop. It just requires a single clear of Ruby/Emerald/Diamond Weapon EX, which should be easy enough unsynced. And those trials even have mount drops, so finding players running them shouldn't be difficult.

If you want cards from EX trials, just do EX trials, whats the problem? they are not that hard.

They aren't hard, but the card drop for some of them is insanely low.
Varis's card is on a fight that is pretty easy to fight unsynced now, but sometimes tough to find PF parties. Most people only want to do one run for wt/clear. There's only dyable job gear attached as a reward for the fight so that lessens the people who want to do a grind even further. Then it's possible (which happened to me quite a few times in the process) for everyone in your group to get what they want (usually gear wise if they don't care about the TT card) and just bounce, leaving you to find yet another group.
Considering that every other reward in EX fights you can get after so many tries or buy off the marketboard (mats, music), feels kinda weird that the card is not available in that way.

im at 349 cards, only missing the one from the new lvl 90 dungeon, and 4 of the red cards from the tournaments (seems kinda impossible to get without cheating imo)
I farmed Varis on 80, no pain no gain.

It sounds like the OP is working towards the 1-312 card mount. I am too. I see it as a challenge and it should be a challenge. When I started on this TT journey, I had whatever cards I had earned through the course of playing this game since 2013. I had a lot of the ARR cards (24-man, dungeons, etc). I had most of the HW cards (I used to raid and run extreme content often). However, my SB and ShB cards were lacking. When I decided to start playing TT, I mostly stuck to NPCs.

Frankly, if the goal is to just "play TT for leisure" then you do not need any of those extreme cards. You can make a perfectly well-functioning deck without it. Take it from me. I had very few SB and later extreme/savage/24-man cards. This did not hold me back at all. If there was a card that would be part of my main decks, chances are I could find a suitable replacement from a card that was easier to get - such as either from NPC or from easily soloable trials.

Sure, I'd love to see some of these harder to get cards moved to an NPC or maybe allow us to exchange extreme totems for cards. However, IF your goal is to get that mount, expect a challenge.

Problem is, it's often not a challenge. Spending a stupid amount of time trying to form parties for dead content with low drop rates (Memoria Misera, Kugane Ohashi, etc) isn't challenging, it's just annoying and frustrating.

The four tournament cards are hardly impossible to get without placing #1-3. Just getting 20 wins against NPCs will give you enough points for 3 platinum packs, and will often get you to at least place #11-20 for the tournament-specific Bronze pack. Might even get you to place #7-10 too, for the Silver pack instead.

Sure, it's still a long term goal at 4 chances every other week, but still not impossible. It's how I got 3 of the 4 cards (with the last from Tataru, when she was still around as a TT NPC).
