New Jobs Suggestion & Compilation

Hello, everyone! =D

I made this thread just to gather all the ideas spread in these forums regarding jobs we wish to see. Here they are:

- Summoner: just like in FFXI, the magic-oriented pet class, but with the possibility of summoning some other primals, like Bahamut (which could NOT be summoned in XI);

- Geomancer: the battlemage that uses a bell to fight and manipulate the elements around him;

- Red Mage: the buffer/debuffer melee mage that is iconic to Final Fantasy;

- Blue Mage: the mage that learns enemy skills;

- Beastmaster: the melee-oriented pet class;

- Dark Knight: if we have the PLD, there should be a DRK somewhere =P;

- Ninja: one that is not a tank-ninja, but rather a... ninja-ninja;

- Puppetmaster: a very creative idea from XI that a lot of people enjoyed, including me, except for the absurd reqs for automaton parts;

- Time Mage: the wizard that controls time... perhaps in here it could be blended with the red mage, as there doesn't seem to have that many time/gravity related skills, but I would love to see it here!

- Thief: the sneak melee character that can steal from enemies... FFVI anyone?

- Dancer: the perfect duo with bard and a very good enfeebler from FFT, as well as a good support in FFXI;

- Calculator: awesome and hard to learn class from FFT, which represents an interesting challenge for the devs;

- Samurai: one of the coolest classes in the FF series, in XI the SAM could open combos, while DRK was more suited to close them;

- Necromancer: something we havet seen before in FFV, which can be a nice addition to this game;

- Morpher: we have seen a few of them, like Terra in FFVI; they are characters who can transform into powerful creatures to fight;

- Berserker: might just fit the warrior we already have, but this is a very cool class from past FF's;

- Chemist/Alchemist: makes the most out of items; could be the only job/class to get a potency boost for using them and the ability to use them on other players., not to mention offensive ones (i.e., bombs, debuffs etc.);

- Chocobo Knight: abilities vary depending on what type of chocobo you're riding; only job/class that can ride their chocobo in battle instead of fight by its side (the devs might have something related to this in the pocket already);

- Corsair/Gambler: instead of just buffs by chance like in XI, make it could have damage by chance too, which seems like a very good and creative idea; I didn't mention before because Musketeer is on its way;

- Machinist: specializes in machines; maybe could be the class for the Puppetmaster job;

- Judge: a class from FFXII and in Dissidia (Gabranth), whose weapons are a combo sword-staff much like Darth Maul's lightsaber from Star Wars, but is made to split into dual swords. Kouji suggested it be a tank with the ability to enfeeble, since it's a very uncommon thing for MMO's so far, which is a very interesting and creative idea;

- Mime: one of the most iconic jobs from FF, despite seeming rather difficult to implement here;

- Onion Knight: another iconic job from FF series, with not many skills of its own, but rather the ability to get more and more powerful as the other jobs get powerful;

Any other ideas I missed?

Seems like summoner would be more fun if it were able to create a much larger and more varied arsenal of creatures, based off battle conditions and prior spells, rather than just presets. Not sure how that would be done, but it would definitely be fun to be able to summon a giant worm to dick around with the enemies by absorbing some damage for me, then turn it into a scorpion for added defense, shrug off blows, adapt that into a Wyvern to finish off a couple of enemies quickly, and then dissipate my summon to take its TP and start a new chain or a much larger base summon.

But that's not gonna happen... Dang.

All for Red Mage as long as I can viably use a sword and flame enemies from point blank range while taking advantage of debilitating elements cruelly and precisely. Have him join a group called the 4 Less-Than-Holy Swords. Cus'... he'd actually have a reason to use a sword now, unlike in XI...

Edit: Is it a clue from the devs to stop making these kinds of posts by not having a general forum in the Classes & Jobs category? Website Suggestions doesn't really cut it.

I really like your idea for summoner! Red mage should also be implemented that way. I'm 100% sure they will be around soon. Kiyoshi P. is not stupid, he will not let 2 of the most iconic ff classes out of this game.

I also forgot samurai! How could I do it? So many people love that class =D

Kouji, what is this judge class? I really never heard of it, despite sounding so cool =P

I made this thread to add those FF jobs that we have already seen and want in this game, but I can add that one too. Is it a class you created or is it from the series?

well judges came from 12 but i havent played it. only what i played was Gabranth in Dissidia who is the judge from 12 whose weapons are a combo sword staff much like darth mauls lightsaber from star wars but is made to split in to dual swords.. but i thought it be interesting to have it be enfeebling tank in the game since no mmos at least that ive played have Tanks that enfeeble the mobs.

Good day to everyone. I don't usually post too much to the forums but after seeing this new job suggestion thread I thought I would share an idea I had about a class/job. This may seem a bit strange upon first read but I ask everyone to at least think about the idea before quickly dismissing it. Comments are always welcomed and I couldn't care less about flaming because input is input. Without further ado.

Class: Musketeer --> Job: Summoner

(OK so I know the moment most of you all see this, the tables will be tossed. Despite clearly being a hybrid, let us remember that Archer/Bard actually worked out quite well in terms of hybrid. So please keep that in mind)

Here are my thoughts on Musketeer/Summoner. I am not sure if many people have seen the anime - Final Fantasy: Unlimited. For those who have consider the character Kaze.

This characters main weapon was called the Magun, basically a gun that used special bullets to summon avatars (summons). Using the correct combo of bullets (three of them) he would then fire his gun and an elemental burst would form together to summon a desired avatar.

So this takes us back to Musketeer/ Summoner. We already have a guild in Limsa for the Musketeers. Why not have them become an elemental ammo based damage dealer. I thought about what kind of ammo they could use and my first thought was the shards/crystals we gather for crafting. How many of you all can say you have an abundance of shards and crystals just being sold or hardly used for crafting? These would give crystals a whole other use. A nice way to take items out of the game. The musketeer could fire shots based on elements that may or may not deal side effects based on loaded ammo. This kind of setup would be similar to the Elementalist class seen in Final Fantasy Tactics mixed with the gunner class.

The way Summoner would meld into this class, I would like you to refer back to Kaze from Final Fantasy Unlimited. A gun slinging class that summons avatars based on certain loaded ammo. Mixing certain crystals together would summon say carbuncle or fenrir, etc. Of course it would be necessary for the summoner to first defeat the said avatar in a battle before they would have the right to summon it. Upon defeat of said avatar a key item would be bestowed to the player allowing the combination of crystals to call forth said avatar. The avatar would draw MP from the summoner based on abilities used in battle, not perpetual cost for having the avatar out. When no abilities are being used then auto attack would be the default method of DD. A certain amount of MP plus the ammo crystals would be required to call the summon initially but it can stay out until dismissed. The reason I chose crystals for the ammo was because it would remain constant with the lore that the primals requiring shards/crystals from the beastmen tribes.

Please bear in mind this is a growing idea and obvious holes in its design and conception may be present. I am sure this idea could work, if enough peopled liked it and the dev's took an interest in it. My hope is to create something not similar to XI's version of Summoner. As I said earlier this concept of Musketeer / Summoner may be hard to swallow upon first read but let it sink in and let it run around in your head for a moment and consider if this type of concept in-game would be fun to play and a new twist while still retaining some sort of feel from the FF universe.

No hard feelings if nobody likes this idea. I asked a few people on my server and most of them found it at least interesting in concept. I would like to see what the community thinks.

Read the full version and like the idea but not for musketeer. Maybe give it its own gun-type weapon and class, like a shotgun or aether-gun. Granted if it did ever go to musketeer that could open up cards as a weapon for gambler/corsair!

The aether gun is an interesting idea. Though you have a point about cards for gambler/corsair. Another thought was the Arcanist guild. Those staff like weapons they have, could be a firearm of some sorts. They are "unique" in design that the concept could fly without infringing on the gun concept that would be musketeer. Thoughts?

Hmm I think I read the Arcanist is already planned to be a "trapping" job. They set traps on the field to do damage/enfeeble and some "traps" to buff/heal. I forget where it was said though. Yoshi also contemplated about Arcanist leading to a pet job in some interview I think.

There are certainly a ton of different directions they could go. They could develop a whole new gun for your idea while giving gambler/corsair cards and turning musketeer into the ranger people thought archer would be. Course cards could be given to a divining job as well and take on the tarot form...

Yeah, Summoners can have a whole new twist with guns! Like the Animation(Final Fantasy Unlimited), with a whole new style of AF!

Yeah, so let give it up for the Mime class/job!

Mime seems like a difficult job to put in this game, but would be a nice addition =D

Its funny. I was honestly expecting more flames with this meat patty of a gun wielding summoner. Very open minded. Thank you. I really want to expose this idea some more to the community and see if it can grab some dev attention if enough people like it. How should I go about it you think?

Well, it's a very cool and original idea, indeed! If you wanna push it forward to the devs, perhaps you could start a specific thread about it and develop the idea of the class/job, like gear, skills, role, some images etc. A poll might help too =D

Mascot - from FFX-2, honestly, a silly class. Could be fun?

Sage / Scholar - Mage that is able to use both black and white magic...scholar in specific specializes in changing which job they currently excel at depending on the current situation and what is needed.

I would personally LOVE to see Necromancer, Morpher, Chocobo Knight, and Geomancer. I think especially that that Morpher would be extremely fun, and Chocobo Knight would just be AMAZING! How I've longed to do battle on my Chocobo back in FFXI...

Have you ever thought about changing your list a bit? MOST of these jobs do not fit the classes we currently have(RDM is a sword user by tradition that has also fought in the front line. FFXI ruined that.

May need to point out that the majority of jobs in FF history do not fit the classes we currently have.

Also Geomancer in Final Fantasy tactics used a SWORD and a lot of their abilities have debuffs on them. So maybe... just maybe Geomancer -> RDM? Since in some FF games they are both battle mages with debuffs.

Also for chocobo knight, Yoshi-P said in an interview combat companion chocobos are in development. sooo <_<

But in all seriousness, if I had to choose... I am still playing Final fantasy 6. Just got Relm and saw her class name, very unique even though it may in essence be Mime.

Actually, I just put there most of the ideas the playerbase had. Regarding the jobs themselves, I agree they will have to add more classes, but that's the idea behind it.

The devs will need to revamp the class system, or else we will have a million classes around that do nothing but be a necessary grind to the jobs.

I think they have 2 options: 1) they add a class for each job; and 2) they use 1 base class for 2 or more jobs.

I'd rather see the 2nd idea with a few things: change classes so they can equip more than one type of weapon (which will be one for each job they can achieve) and introduce several weapon-related skills that will follow the job chosen later on.

Example: a GLD could equip one handed swords for PLD and scythes for DRK, each one having their own skills to choose from. This way, with only one class, the player can unlock 2 completely different jobs and, therefore, play the basic class in 2 different ways.
