6.1 Gunbreaker rotation guide

Note: Gunbreaker rotation will do different things depending on which junction you have activated, this will mean that you can either get SHIELDS on tank junction, HEALS on healer junction, or damage on dps junction.

Note that I wrote damage in lowercase, because this is the worst junction.



Healer junction gives you the most heal ability, this allows you to also cast a heal over time on party members or yourself AND heal every time you pull off your continuation (will be explained later)

Tank junction gives you more shields than the heal ability HOWEVER you can only cast heals on yourself AND shields are temporary vs health. These shield abilities also tend to be a one and done thing vs a heal over time like healer junction

dps junction just increases your damage, that's about it, you do sub dps damage but still actually hit somewhat decently hard, normally you do no damage but as a dps junction you're just as squishy as a dps (even though you're a tank) and do less dps than dps. In 1v1 this is the worst, maybe useful while chasing

Your healer junction will in general give you more sustain for a longer term fight, the junction cast has a longer duration and in general all the skills heal your health. This means your sustain is not temporary unlike tank junction. Tank junction however if you can predict skills and time everything is more powerful as it's potency is stronger... Problem is with tank junction you only have the default healing skill if you lose health. If I'm being bursted down I would prefer tank junction, however if I have enemies with alot of sustained dps over a longer period of time I'm more comfortable with healer junction. Healer junction in general seems to be more newbie friendly as well since you don't need to know and predict opponent attack patterns for optimal efficiency (spam heals + pop heal over time prior to more risky chains or your lb)

Gunbreaker rotation (verbose)



GAP CLOSER

>Rough divide - Allows you to get closer while also buffing your dps and heals for 7 seconds, this allows you to get closer while also buffing your skill, it is also a off global cooldown so you might want to use this if you have no other skills on off global cooldown although it might be worth it to save it when you need a gap closer



LIMIT BREAK - AOE damage vulnerability stack with minor damage and stun (short stun)

Limit break combo -

>Rough divide - 20% extra damage for 7 seconds + Gap closer

>Limit break / Relentless rush - does a spinny thing which stacks 3% damage on opponents, however it doesn't do much damage instantly and doesn't stun. Spin to win skill which once time runs out will stun and do a bigggg damage hit, however you can skip this skill and go to the final stun hit by clicking the button again. Relentless rush auto cast terminal trigger once it's time runs out, if you can maximize the time. Will be a damage buff for your teammates as well

>Terminal trigger - do this if enemy is about to run away or you need instant dps. Enemies can just walk away from you while you're on phase 1 (relentless rush). Terminal trigger is a very short stun.

>Double down - Will hit everyone within a sphere around you with your hardest hitting attack, does not increase damage with dps junction HOWEVER is still the highest damage skill even with dps junction. It is also a aoe with the same range as terminal trigger and relentless rush which means that this will be a GREAT follow-up for the limit break (Which adds a vulnerability effect increasing double down's damage)

If dps junction:
>Blasting zone - Another 10k potency skill like double down but for single target use, if you can fit it into the vulnerability window included in the limit break then great! If you can't the extra damage might let you finish someone off.

NOTE: The limit break on it's own does not do enough damage to kill and in general is not super strong against single target, against a large crowd though (ASSUMING you don't die) it is very useful. Using your lb pretty much makes it so you can't use any healing skills or shield skills (aka your sustain combos and etc) causing this to also be your own most vulnerable window. You might want to use Aurora (Healing junction cast) or Nebula (Shield junction cast) before you cast these skills just to give yourself slightly extra defense while you use your LB. Enemies can just walk out of your Relentless rush by the way so make sure you end the skill before hand if you see someone escaping your range.

Special action -

Draw and junction - Whoever you are selecting will give you their role in combat, this will change your junction cast to

healer - a heal over time, can be selected for others or yourself, off global cooldown

dps - a high damage attack, off global cooldown

tank - a 6 second 20% damage mitigation with a thorns effect, the more times the enemy hits you the more damage they take.



Your junction will also affect the "continuation" part of your main combo rotation, skills which are changed will be outlined with (continuation) next to their name

Healer - continuation skills will now heal you

Tank - continuation skills will give you more shields than the heals heal but are temporary and don't increase your health

dps - increases damage, normally around 3x for your continuation skills, you are now a squishy dps class. You will lose to dps classes most of the time if you try and out dps them and will have less health than tanks or healers, for chasing

Main combo rotation -

Gnashing fang combo

Gnashing fang - damage, procs savage claw

Abdomen tear (continuation) - damage + junction effects

savage claw - damage, procs burst strike

eye gouge - damage + junction effects

Burst strike - damage, ends gnashing fang combo

hyper velocity - damage + junction effects

Possible draw and junction cast - draw IF you want their role effect, will let you skip the keen edge combo right to burst strike followed by hyper velocity

IF you want their junction / role -

Cast your junction skill whenever you need it and don't have a off global cooldown skill to use, these can't be fit into the rotation easily and must be used based on player discression due to how different they all are

Tip: Use your heal over time skill (as a healer) when you know you're about to use your limit break or do your keen edge combo since both will make it so you can't heal easily



Keen edge combo

Solid barrel - damage

Burst strike - damage

Hyper velocity - damage + junction effect

Note: you can directly jump to burst strike by using your junction draw and then hyper velocity (Look at junction draw combo)

You can cast hyper Burst strike hyper velocity twice in a row for big damage / heals / shields by doing keen edge combo --> Junction draw combo



Keen edge combo in general is also a good source of damage AFTER gnashing fang combo goes on cooldown



That's the main rotation for single target skills.



Use rough divide to close in, at the same time you can do the smaller combos which make up the main combo in a different order, this is normally my opener

Double down - aoe, use it to hit alot of enemies in a aoe, also does more damage than the finishers of all 3 combos (burst strike hyper velocity, eye gouge) even while they're on dps mode. Double down does not care about your junction.

Double down is good for single target damage as well although it is not a combo, you may want to use it at the end of a combo string for higher burst damage. Do not forgo it because it's a aoe. Be mindful of the 20 second long cooldown though.





Common actions:

Standard issue elixir - out of combat heal, max heal for hp and mp, can be interrupted so only use in safe areas

Recuperate - your main form of heal as a tank and dps junction, however still very important even for healer junction

Purify - use to remove your status conditions, your only status condition wipe so be careful while using it

Guard - use to avoid big damaging attacks, will slow you down. Suggested that you use this on the crystal in crystal conflict if you are the only one left! Important for survivability. Learn the startup animations of other classes if you can!

In general gunbreaker will not be able to 1v1 most dps classes and will have a hard time with others, healer junction vs healer is a infinite heal match, same with tank junction / healer junction vs tank. Dps junction vs dps, gunbreaker loses almost every time. If you want to be a gunbreaker you'll thrive in chaotic situations where everyone is grouped (Double down + Limit break (Relentless rush, terminal trigger))

As a gun breaker you are also able to take all of the roles, dps when called for (dps junction mainly for chasing or finishing people off), Healer when needing to support your allies or long term sustain, Tank when you need to survive the more bursty classes or stand in the frontline (preferably with a healer or other class backing you up).

As a gunbreaker at the same time you'll have a hard time matching any specified role in their specific field of play, your power comes in versatility and being able to swap junctions OR your aoes. You should ALWAYS have a junction active since if you don't have any of the junctions you will only lose a positive effect and a skill, you gain nothing by being unattributed.

Even if the closest enemy is not the best junction at that moment, in most cases you should jump onto them and attune yourself to their role. Unless you are 100% sure you can get your preferred role in the short term, I would suggest getting a junction.

Being unattributed (no junction) will leave you with tank / healer level dps, no healing other than common skills, no shields other than common skills. Overall being unattributed leaves you as a jack of NO trades. You lose your junction every time you die (THINK TANK STANCE).

These likely are not PERFECT rotations but they're the best I have found personally as of 4/19/2022

Some post script, I just want to warn aspiring gunbreakers that gunbreaker is (like pve) a very complicated class at times, very clicky, it will also almost always lose out or tie with another class in 1v1s. Very rarely will you be able to kill a tank or a healer, but if you're using tank or healer junction you'll be able to heal infinitely as well. When you fight a dps though... you'll almost always win unless you have a major skill gap over your opposing dps class in a 1v1. In general this class works best as a aoe jack of all trades, not really amazing at any one thing but can fulfill every role, as such... It's not a very good 1v1 class and if you just wanna jump in and fight it'll be difficult to say the least haha. Even trying to max out sustain (tank/healer junctions), in general I have a hard time killing dps although I can last a long time with perfect rotation and skill use. Even trying to max out damage I have a hard time killing dps classes before they kill me. Cross role fights sometimes work abit better but even then tank and healer suffer from tank/healer damage, and dps suffers from dps like health. As a dps junction or a junctionless you are NOT a tank, you are almost as squishy as all the other dps classes!

Thanks, this is great read so far given that I would need to take it in to battle to see how it all plays out based on which junctions. I have seen gameplay and after looking at the skills and the rate of LB generation it's starting to make more since now. You saved me alot of time, cheers.

As someone who has tried GNB a lot in PVP, monk has only 1.5k less hp with more stun, more mitigation and more sustain that doesn't require waiting 15s to swap junctions or do other things. I'd say GNB is more squishy than most dps for this reason. If everything works ideally and it's just dps trade sure, but those dps typically have stuns and cc's and other methods of shutting GNB down, and GNB has literally no counter to that.

Most DPS have a ton of skills AND do way more damage, leaving GNB a master of nothing. Hell SAM literally has a better version of Nebula by default, an aoe bind, hp drain, a dps skill that gives them a barrier and a LB that actually works efficiently without server ping screwing you :/

I really want to know what they were thinking making GNB worst at all three jobs with little ability to quickly react to the shifting battle around them.

Yeah the lb is a major part of gunbreakers utility since it makes enemies more vulnerable and stuns them in a decently sized aoe, also the high regen is a major factor of it as well. I have to complain about it's low damage but I guess that can be helped with combos or the argument of aoe utility. Def a complicated and likely underpowered class in pvp though.

Yeah I agree with the points here, gunbreaker is VERY squishy in dps mode and I'd argue dps mode is only for chasing down enemies if you really need to, at all other times though gunbreaker is a aoe class (decent aoe damage with really fast aoe lb generation) which can adapt to the situation / party comp. I do agree that it seems like a master of none and is pretty bad in general compared to most other classes and buffs would be nice. I do enjoy having the flexibility for swapping between the three modes though and how the draw adds into the combo.

In general I think the role of gunbreaker as a pvp class is support and solely support, jump in, maybe tank abit, aoe, lb, get out, heal or tank for your allies, and MAYBE chase down low health stragglers here and there. Not really a "tank" by any means, tank by necessity sometimes, but really just a support who can cover for roles that are needed. Atleast that's rn anyways. Funny as it's one of the higher damage tanks in pve.

Yeah I also noticed tanks and healers are not that high in dps. However they do have great sustain or cc properties. I see GNB as more of support as you said but maybe b+ on all traits. I also see GNB as a tank that is more of a support that jumps in and finishes or helps finish the job. Note that anytime you match up a job role with another you get instant synergy (WAR-any dps etc.) I feel that was the core direction initially: at minimal 2 job synergy. Because alot of time you just need two people working together to shut down another random team due to the way it's all matched.

So like you said in a 1v1 the strengths and weaknesses show. But as a team GNBs bring alot of assists. I also noticed this in the endmatch stat boards. Most tanks hardly have kills unless they are really good opportunist but the assists are usually higher. Where as on SAM ...I know...I know (people say it's busted and I'm being carried by overturned design), I play more like an opportunist hence I can teleport 3 times to any player and either reduce their hp severally or finish them off. I do enjoy teleporting and deleting low hp players lol. I'm not a SAM mainly actually I just picked it then ran into try out the new PVP.

Anyway the approach to GNB I think is very unique and I hope it gets the adjustments it need. I like the job and actually wonder if they (devs), intentionally start low so after we beta test....ahem...they collect data, the proper adjustments can be made. But given some of what you presented as possible with the kits current design, they most likely will adjust off of the high level capacity in battle.

That or strip it down entirely because well ...they didn't get it (draw and junctions) or like it....lol.

And also we have to realize that it too may suddenly become busted so they may turn it up the buffs slowly. At which case given the kit people will be very wary of a gun breaker on any team because they may be suddenly able to 1v1 across roles. And we can't have that now because that not balanced.

100% I agree with what you're saying here haha, it's def super rough to play in 1v1 situations but I think it is one of the more unique classes and can be very high skill cap once it's balanced slightly more, the class feels way under powered in 1v1's but that's not really the point of tanks anyways, once it gets some slight buffs here and there I think it could be a really good class with a high skill ceiling, I really do enjoy classes like that where in the right hands they're good haha.

I kinda play gunbreaker like a rogue most of the time with healer or dps but when my team doesn't have a tank or are all dead I try and go tank / healer to hold the crystal

With how fast it's generated if the Stun was sent out in a circle around the GNB ON CAST for maybe 1-3 seconds it would allow for AT LEAST 2 hits to go off before activating trigger so that server ping doesn't eat it and/or they can't just fling you away and laugh at you from just outside the range.

This way the LB stuns, hit at least 1-2 of the vulns, and you can trigger immediately to try and capitalize or go for the full 5. And because it's a single stun they can still purify out of it so you'd have to bait their cc prevention or hope they can't break out of it, without changing a lot of the skill. If WAR can do an AOE ranged Stun and dash in in one move, I feel like GNB shouldn't have a LB that basically whiffs half the time.

Tanks can't be built this way though and that's one of the reason SGE is kinda in a similar/weird boat. It's a healer that tops the DPS charts (I main it) but can only sustain if literally no one is looking at them.

If the matchmaking is going to continue working how it is currently, where it "tries" to put a tank and/or healer in every party (I know because of how many WAR/WHM combos I've fought) then the single tank in the group not being a good tank hits twice as hard. It's not just the idea of a support tank, it's when the support tank is literally all you have and its mit/sustain/cc is worse than amelee dps that you don't really have a good place for it. Why bring a GNB for "support" when a SAM can do everything but AOE heal without having to get into the thick of it, or without requiring junction cooldowns?

If a WAR can range stun dash in and grief a point for a long time, even DRK can stay alive invuln'd for 10s, that's time the point isn't being pressed. GNB is so bad at it's job that it can't even really "apply pressure" as its LB is basically useless and DoubleDown just isn't enough on its own imo.

SGE and SCH very often top two dps. When I'm SGE I'm usually top or second, and SCH had so much damage potency from DoTs that they can get up there too. WARs can do insane damage while healing and mitigating and controlling the field, but for a GNB you need basically an exact scenario or the opponent to be asleep at the wheel.

If you could queue up as a group, MAYBE this could work for GNB but you can't so often you're a GNB vs a WAR and a WAR will stomp GNB on sheer utility alone.

But that's what the current issue is lol. A few classes can already do this. Which is why a class like GNB pales in comparison.

If classes like SAM can mitigate better and tank better and dps better and sustain themselves better AND GNB has no utility beyond a reeeeeeally bad regen, AND the only heal/sustain they have is based on a combo on a cooldown, and their defense is dependent on there being a tank on the opposing party in the first place it means they can't "really" adapt to any situations, they can only just halfass three roles. The Junction system is a starting point. They need to take that to the finish line and come up with how that alters the kit because right now it's not worth it.

Do the shields that continuation gives you (while in tank junction) stack? If I just did a continuation and got a shield from it, but take no damage, what happens when I do another continuation? Do the shields stack?

It doesn't feel like it, which is silly because RDM White Mana melee shields DO stack.

Yep, I've seen the yellow shield bar above my HP bar nearly go all the way across thanks to it. I've been using RDM to steamroll in most of my matches now, though I typically use Black Mana since killing enemies is better than shields or healing.

Honestly, I'm just gonna not play this game mode until GNB gets some love.
Every day I find out more and more things that other classes get that we should have gotten too.

Honestly pretty fair, imo gunbreaker IS majorly underpowered and requires a buff. I mainly wrote the guide since if I'm really perfecting my rotation using my off global cooldowns and utilities and etc I can get a redmage down to 10% in 1v1? I know there's a few other die hard gunbreakers out there and having a rotation is better than nothing I guess haha :^)

We do far better in group fights but yeah I don't blame you at all for taking a break from gunbreaker till they buff us

Maybe if the junction abilities were worked into the kit, and then the junction changed to a limit break so it can be made more powerful without taking away current abilities or changing the class too much.

Just brainstorming here but what if Gnb limit break junctioned the selected enemy in addition to what is does now.
it could apply a silence effect to symbolize the gnb literally stealing their magic,
and give the target a vulnerability of 10% and the gnb a 20% damage resistance to that player only, sort of like corps on rdm, to symbolize how junctions give the gnb insight into their opponents plans and memories.

Then have the limit break button combo into one preset skill of that class, something with utility instead of pure damage, like healing or crowd control, and have it start the cool down on the enemy spell, like they used it when the gnb stole it.

I'd personally love more off global cooldown skills like the dash to round off the skillset, at times the kit isn't full enough that i have 100% off global cooldown use and if there were more continuation skills (for the keen edge combo) or some off global cooldown utility (like a more minor version of heal / shield / dps skills) that would really round out the kit I think. Just having a shield a heal and a extra damage skill you can have regardless of junction would really help the play style I think. Even if they're way weaker than the junction versions of themselves I'd like to be able to have /some/ way to heal other than my recuperate skill (or healer junction)

Now that I think about it, making brutal shell heal and give a small shield like it normally does would really help, having some kind of passive healing as you're doing that off combo would be real nice, it's a non off global cooldown using combo which can heal and shield while you're waiting for your continuation combo to go off cooldown
