Thoughts about the new Trophy Crystals AF gear

I'll be real even though I like them, I don't see what's their purpose.
Are they intended to be the reworks of the old AF sets or just alternative versions ? Why do ARR jobs get their Heavensward AF sets HD-ified, while expansion jobs get their first one ? Especially the RPR and SGE ones seem rather pointless.

Just feels like a bit of a waste to spend 7500 trophy crystals to obtain an HD version of a set that will anyway get reworked. Main positive is that they're all lvl 1. Still, would have been nice for Square to elaborate on that...

They're lazy. But hey at least we got weapons this time around.

To me it was just them cutting corners once again. But some of the weapons aren't bad I guess. I just wish the armor was just as unique.

The sets are super nice HD reworks yes. I don't know why they went that route, if anything the sets that would make the most sense would be the SB ones as you still have to go into Eureka and farm a lot to even make them dyable. Either way though, I don't consider the rewards a total loss or the best case scenario of what could've happened. And yes, the RPR and SGE make the least sense of all.

5/10 on the decision for those rewards.

I'm just generally concerned about this shift to "high detail" versions of gear. From the things produced so far, metal in particular looks very rough and often dyes very poorly and patchily. Cloth parts can have undyeable marks or splodges – the male Viera starter gear, for example, has little grey scruffy bits all over the cloth and it makes dye look washed-out and muted.

Even without the dye issues, I just feel that they look worse on screen than the cleaner originals.

If this is the future of all gear in the game, I don't like it.

I like them a lot actually fixing those horrendous textures on the Chaos set is great plus RDM and GNB set looks nice updated
and they are level one so i can easily get them for my alt
and considering we got a lot of glam sets this patch and its all actually dyable I think ill give re textures a pass

After an expansion of just the Lost Allagan set as the PvP gear, I was excited for something new. Imagine my disappointment to find out that the "new" sets are just old AF, but HD.

It would not be too bad if they were purchasable with Wolf Marks, but they are not worth using crystals for unless you really like how they dye.

They do dye differently to the original sets, so there is another difference.

I get peoples disappointment with them being reworks but I actually love the dye channels on a lot of these updated sets so thats where I've been throwing my pvp crystals. The SMN and SGE sets are so good.

I wasn't impressed. And I think the Ninja weapon looks stupid.

I actually like the gear. The normal one dyes in a weird way and the pvp one is sort of better with that. This patch already had enough inside of it to turn a blind eye for such a detail like this.

I'm all for reworking and bringing all the old stuff up to EW standards of quality but I was definitely hoping for more considering that the Trophy Crystals become grindier and grindier as you progress through the series. The Wolf Collar weapons are definitely more worth it in my book and I hope to see some actual new armor sets next series. It would also be good if they could clarify what is going to happen to the actual AF gear you get from quests and such and whether that is actually going to be reworked or if these are the reworks we're getting and they'll keep coming like this in the future.

Disappointed that the Dragoon helmet doesn't retain the red eyes.

The SAM set is definitely one of the better ones, it dyes really nicely and is absolutely an upgrade to one of their best looks.

I do wish they'd have done something different for SGE and RPR though they're just straight re-colours of their EW sets.
