PLEASE LET US EDIT WALLS!

I hate that I have to hide my walls all the time because the pillars don't match. Please for the love of all that is holy let us edit our interior walls! I'm not talking about wall paper. I really want stairway options and pillar options. I wouldn't even mind if they were all the same with different textures and colors. The wall paper is great but please make wall paper that looks like the available partitions specifically the marble partition wall since everyone seems to be hiding their default walls with those. I hate spending a ton of my house inventory to cover up the walls!

I'm not understanding. Do you want Square Enix to add more wallpaper options or allow you to change the interior theme of your house?

House interiors are designed to match the district they're in. This is why some districts are more highly prized than others. EDIT: Allowing players to customize the design of their pillars and walls inside their houses or even removing the pillars entirely would be nice.

Most people tend to cover them up with partitions anyway, I honestly wouldn't mind paying extra gil or whatever it takes to remove the pillars/bottom part lol.

I want to edit the default walls, pillars and stairs to match the overall feel of my house. I find in a lot of super decorated houses they block off the walls with marble walls. So why not just allow us to edit the default walls.

Yeah and apartment sizes are designed to match the fact that they're apartments and thus less coveted, but you keep asking for players to be able to resize those. Yet its too much for players to be able to change their pillars and ceiling?

I'd kill for pillar/trim swaps. It's the only reason I don't live in the Goblet anymore.

So are exteriors and we can change those, so why should interiors be different?

It would be nice to be able to change the pillars, ceiling, and stairs inside.

It would save covering them all up with partitions, and allow more space and the partition-waste channeled into items.

Pillars can make some item placements difficult...There is a way to glitch some items into the natural pillars but its not 100%
I'd love to be able to take the natural pillars away as well as the chandelier. Also the windows, change the ceiling and general bare-bones layout.

Would be a godsend..

On that same page, would also be nice to have previewers for wallpapers/flooring/chandeliers like we do for furnishings.

Around the time they first began to talk about ishgard several years ago they mentioned that they were looking into the possibility of what you just asked for with regards to Windows/walls/pillars. I've not seen se mention it again.

But yes, the only thing I hated about my medium Shirogane home was the pale green wall color on the stairs. It clashed with everything, only the default Shirogane wallpaper would match it, and trying to cover it was hard. Can't use partitions either as those clip through, or block stairs/walls.

It's so frustrating that the Shirogane Walls in particular (inside) have a red strip around the bottom of the floor. This red trim limits what colors you can use on the walls. I basically have to have a red design. I've tried everything - and we don't have enough housing items to just hide all the walls.

Please let us remodel the interior trim, pillars, stair, etc. This is an extremely beneficial suggestion.

This is so frustrating! I hate it too, it's glaring and so hard to cover up because of the shape. I covered the corner by the front door but can't get anything to cover the other side of it. I try not to look lol

Please let us remodel!

yes I would also love this feature, actually posted another post in regards to it, the molding near the floor and ceiling of some districts are different as well as ceilings and stairways, I would love an option to at least get the option to select what theme I wanted to use. imho it would also alleviate some housing issues since it wouldn't really matter internally at least at that point where your house is. the view outside sure.

I really want to use Mist's interior pillars! Goblet's interior pillars aren't Loft friendly because of these:

This is something I've been wishing for for a long time now. Covering up the walls with partitions not only takes away some space, it also takes up a lot of unnecessary item slots when those are already limited and that could be awesome for preventing it. I don't mind paying a bit extra to unlock that option or something, but just having the option would be nice!

On that note, please ... please make more of the walls / partitions matchy as well. I cringe when I look at the Hingan window partition and the bottom parts are completely different to the other Hingan partitions. It would also be nice to just have the window partitions / arch / curved partitions with all the district designs and not just on the marble walls.

UI from Rift please (far superior, please adapt current UI or add extra UI just for floating, rotation and resizing.

Please start allowing us to build, sink furniture, remove placement restrictions for EVERYTHING

I too hide as much as I can with partitions but with the tiny item limits ,and partitions that are not very long, I can only decorate 1/4 of my house.

Vast increase of interior item limits to at least 1200 for M

I would love options to remove the pillars etc from all housing, not just apartments, and have just blank walls.

I'd also like the ability to have pillars match the style of wall you put up. For example, when using the masonry stone wall item, have the pillars turn to stone as well. I tried this on my FC room in Shirogane and ooof, stone walls with hingan pillars and crossbeams? Ick!

I would love to be able to choose the interior I want for my house instead of being stuck with the default.
Being given the option to have a blank interior with no pillars would be wonderful, too. Say a 'Marble' interior that matches the marble partitions and arched partitions.

Wasting furnishing slots covering the existing walls is a fix, but it's not a good one. In larger houses it results in them looking even more bare and unfurnished.

I would really love that option. Having to cover the default walls with partitions because they don’t match what you want to do makes you lose precious space and decoration slots. It is particularly aggravating when you try to decorate an apartment or small house due to their size and limited amount of decorations one can place.

At minimum we should be able to chose a basic style given the limited housing availability.

+1 for this, but I'd at least be OK with getting Highland-style partitions to go with the Ishgardian apartment style, so I can use those instead of the ones I brought from my old apartment

I was so pleasantly surprised when they finally let us use exterior walls/roofs on houses outside of their original districts. I assumed that interior themes would soon follow, but that obviously wasn't part of the plan. Anything we can do to bring visibility to the fact that we want this, I'll support!

We were always able to change exterior appearances. We were just limited on what options we could use until they removed that restriction.

We've never been able to change interior architecture elements. That seems to be hardcoded. As much as I'd enjoy the option, I don't see it happening unless they do some major rebuilding of the housing system.

It's very interesting that they have talked about this. Right now I have over 50 partitions blocking walls in my large fc house because the walls don't match what I'm going for. 50 items gone to partitions! It's just crazy. I feel like they could give us options for pillars and stair cases that at least match the available partitions. Heck I would be fine with them looking the same as long as we can change the texture / color. The hallways and stairwells are so gross looking when the rest of your house looks like a 5 star luxury house. I'm tired of hiding the walls and wasting so much item space!

I wondered why they didn't change the interior to match the outside at the VERY least or let us buy something to apply to the inside to change it ourselves. My fc uses the forge or blacksmith (I forget what it's called) exterior. So for the inside to be sandstone due to being in the Goblet and the outside is wood and metal.. its always seemed a bit funny to me.

But hey.. I remember when houses were locked to their zones/areas too as far as exterior. So maybe it is a work in progress feature.

I feel the same. No doors to match, no blank Highland partitions to match. If all the other zones have them, why not Empyreum?
Also, There is an issue with the Curved partitions not being the same color as marble walls, even when dyed. Such a shame.

Interior swaps would be nice, then you can always pick what suits your style best. Although I did place my apartment (EU char) in Mist because I want to make a Crystarium interior and I feel like Mist base delivers best. FC moves are based on what the FC leadership decides so you are bound to it. Let’s say they moved to Lavender Beds but you prefer the old Shirogane walls well too bad… in that case I somewhat would like interior pillars/windows/wall styles to be swapable or if possible even mix and matchable.

Like sorry we can’t take the pilars away but you now can mix Goblet base walls with Lavenderbeds pilars and Mist style windows + door.

Yeah...it kind of made sense back when you could only use the same housing districts house designs, but now with marble cafes to Mog Homes...it's just one of those holdovers that really shows how much work the housing system needs.

Why can't we change or even hide the pillars and stairs? I mean look at the differences in them.

A medium house for example has 300 slots...you lose 1 though for each feature.

Outside you have a max of 30 items in a medium house, but the mini-aetheryte takes a slot and so does the mailbox. Then if you want retainers in the yard that's another 2 slots. Striking Dummy is another slot as well. Then there's the 2x garden patches for a Medium if you want to grow things. Then the Chocobo Stables if you want to raise or dye them. These should all just be slots on the Remodel Exterior menu or just add a new group of slots in a menu for Housing Features.

Why don't we just have XYZ axis for placing items? Why do we have to glitch things?

Instead of working on new systems like adventurer plates...maybe fix a few older ones first.

I would love to be able to change my interior walls and pillars too. I have a small cottage in Shirogane and the interior wall and pillars pretty much restrict me to having only eastern designs unless I blew a ton of my housing slots to cover them up which really sucks :(

Not everyone wants those features in their house (or can in the case of the wheel stands being restricted to FC houses). Why should potential item space be taken up by things not everyone wants? That's just as ignorant as those claiming that the lottery isn't fixed yet because Ultimate is being added during maintenance tonight. Adventurer plates have nothing to do with housing. There are separate developer teams working on each.

Let's communicate without the sarcasm. Please? I work with middle school students all day and don't relish the idea of dealing with more of it at night. Thankfully just 7 or so more Mondays until summer break.

That said, at what point did I say the basic housing features most FCs use...needed to be locked in for everyone and use up their slots? In fact, I want to see SE free up the slots those items take up and make those basic housing features optional slots kind of like they do the yard with the "Optional Fixtures" menu when you click remodel. Make it so that as you put items such like the summoning bell in a slot on that "optional features" menu, have it appear in the house and then let the player move it around. My post literally adds up the items that are also housing features to show how many valuable slots they eat up. If I wasn't clear enough...then hopefully this helps. It would also be a good space to add the ability to change out the pillars/stairs etc in the houses in the same remodel window we use to change the floors and lighting.

As for the other part of your reply, I understand that there are different teams and I'll be the first to admit that I don't know how many are currently on each or what each person does. I haven't looked at the list really since Stormblood and was too emotional post Endwalker to watch the names as closely. I do know they like to mix things up in the past and make these side projects like when GPose was added as I recall back in 3.1 (now there's a feature that grew over the years unlike housing).

Where would portraits and adventure plates fit in with which dev team? Who knows...UI Designers or programmers? Non-Combat Content Designers or programmers? What's the break down of content devs per those groups? No idea. Is there some overlap in within those groups and housing...maybe, but SE doesn't tell us specifics like that usually.

Tangent: I would love to see a panel at the next fanfest that is just those devs working on housing like they had Mr. Ozma before for battle design.

But yeah, they literally said the plates were in beta still and that's why I mentioned that as an example of the newest one they are adding to the game. I like new stuff as much as the next person. I just want to see them also improving and investing in the older stuff too.

I'd love it if my pillar/ ceiling theme matched that of the Ishgard housing district- I'm currently stuck in Ul Dah & like so many others, were waiting for years to get into Ishgard housing

we all know SE isn't really trying to fix the housing. (if they were, they wouldn't have allocated so many of the 1st wards to FC houses for starters- they can't actually be that tone-deaf)

The company chest & other FC/ crafting items should be automatically considered when upgrading those things or getting an FC house- like maybe once you unlock a certain part of the FC workshop, you get more storage tabs related to crafting/ etc. without having to add the storage chests so it doesn't take up an item slot

TL; DR- workshop should have a different storage tab strictly for crafting/ items not related to decorating- so an FC chest doesn't take up 1 slot
But other misc & crafting items such as the Aetherial wheel, toy box etc shouldn't take up an item space at all imo

Retainers & NPCs should just be an optional feature that folks pay like 10k gil to unlock once but don't require item slots to use- instead, have them UI tab based- so when you enter your designated house, a UI tab is present labeled " Workshop | Company Storage | Retainers & NPC's | House Storage "
And clicking on a tab will bring up a further UI window, so clicking on workshop will show you things all related to whats being researched/ what can be researched
Company storage is basically your company chest & it brings up all things that would normally be stored in the actual company chest
Retainers & NPCs would bring up a UI window of all personal retainers & in a lower menu you would see all available NPCs (junkmonger, Mender, etc)
And house storage would be the entire decor & storage window of items placed

The message book should be an item you can just add in a window- and bring up in a window like (Housing-> message book) almost like the market board- all of these suggestions are to save on item slots

As far as getting better placement for housing (Axis placement: XYZ)- YES. We should be able to place items & move them anywhere without getting a flat no because a wall is too close to a pillar you're trying to hide while trying to maximize the space. We should not have to downright bug items or glitch items just to get a desired effect.
This is something that in order to fix, the Devs have to take physical part in. I've always suggested for Yoshi-P or w/e dev to be forced to recreate some of the most intricate player housing designs just to get a glimpse of a system they've failed to acknowledge for years.

(Truthfully, I'd rather there be an interior limit of 1000 items)

Players are constantly asking for their favorite items to not count against their general inventory allotment (or housing item allotment in this case). The fishing tackle request is one of the more common ones. You might think it's sarcasm but it's a very real example.

I don't use half of the items you list in my own house. If SE is going to add another 18 item slots to our item limits, I'd rather have the option to use those slots for items I want in my house instead of someone else choosing what those items can be.

I honestly standardly use all those items in my home so I have a central hub for most things. I believe most opinions are valid in housing. However if we could just change the default pillars and walls to

1: Let us make the pillars optional.
2: Let us choose which pillars we want.
3: Allow pillar options that match each style of popular partitions.
4: Add door ways that match each partition.
5: I don't mind keeping the stairs, ceiling beams and stair rails the same but please allow us to change the textures and colors to match our partitions.

For argument sakes lets not dwell on the residential zone dictates the pillars / trim because we are able to change our outside skin which should reflect on the inside. We should be able to mix an match these on the inside for what's available. I could see the cafe house becoming a more instant success because I would assume the inside would be more of a marble partition trim. This would allow people to not have to waste 30+ slots on partitions to to hide the walls.

House exteriors are done by FCs in the workshop.

It would be a nice solo crafting task if there were optional crafted insides - pillars, ceiling, stairs - that were made by solo crafters. Not easy crafts, but something to be unlocked, something that doesn't need a house to make, something that needs some rare gathered materials.

Want candy pillars inside? A solo crafter could make them with something as hard to get as the Balsamic clay needed for the exterior.
