Lopporits - New Race

Seeing these extremely cute characters has for the first time wishing to change my female Elvaan. If SquareEnix, ever thought to make these a playable race to rival Taru's I'd spend on a fantasia.

I agree they are very cute and everything and I’d love to see them added one day <3
But I think Squeenix got enough on its plate right now with two unfinished races…

As much as I would love to see more races its just not worth the strain it puts on the dev team

This goes for new classes as well.

just delete the potato race and replace them with the moon rabbits

Vieras are taller Lopporits if you put them in a fursuit. :)

Once female Hrothgar are here, I think it's best if SE leave adding in new races... It's really showing that this is more work than they can handle, especially with how they handled Hrothgar and Viera's limitations.

I think a fair compromise would be a Lopporits outfit available in game.. Play a Lalafell and done :)

Well ok, they have no customization except maybe a couple fur colors. And absolutely no gear is visible on them. They always have their little blue dress.

they can barely handle the last two races they released.

Put these foolish ambitions to rest.

That would be great. I would 100% play it and never change back.

However, that being said, it's not happening. It would make no sense lore-wise, and there's no gymnastics they could do to make it happen.
Also, they have said vieras and hrothgars are the last races they'll ever add. I don't think they want to deal with long ears on hats for another race.

It'd make no sense in the narrative lol, It could already be argued that it's strange with Viera and Au'Ra ( didn't Yugiri hide to avoid being identified as Au'Ra too? ).
But Lopporits would just make zero sense.

With that said I think it'd be cool if you could unlock them through completing the expansions, I don't think it's that big of a deal really if it makes no sense.
I'd really like to play a Garlean too.
Altho you'd basically be a walking spoiler.

But honestly, I'd be fine with them not having any hairstyles (as they're all equal looking by nature anyway). Fur color could be nice though.
But I know the community would cry and complain if they didn't have 1000 customization options.

So we can have MORE threads griping about a playable race's shortcomings and flaws? No thanks!

I've wished we had an Ivalician Moogle race for years, and Loporrits are close enough, but at this point in the game I think adding any more new races is a waste of time. They clearly don't have the time or budget to do it properly.

Just transform all Lalafell into Loporrits.

Oh my gosh I know so many who wish for garlean to be a race they already have the body structure because they are pretty much hyur faces with elezen bodies give or take some features, but the models are similar kind of mix between elezen and roe.

Thing is with the way the game's story goes, player population literally isnt accounted for by any NPC in the game. We could have been a Loporrit from the start and as far as anyone before getting to the moon was concerned we would have just been a wierd talking rabbit and the only one they'd ever seen even though 500 other players playing as loporrits were actively running around them during the day lol...

Didn't SE say that they weren't gonna do any more races after Viera and Hrothgar?
And seeing how those two are going, I don't think they wanna go through with all that again.

I'm sorry to all those who wanted to make a Lopporits named Threeway.

it's not like they even need a lore excuse to be.
It's not like warcraft where each race has their own starting area.

Not to be a party pooper, but SE is on record saying No more new races, point blank.

Doesn't mean it'll never happen, but I wouldn't expect them to change their minds over the next.. I dunno.. 5 years.

Lopporits are what I wanted Ivalican moogles to look like. It would be a cute second short race like the lalas.

If you guys don't mind playing ear-less, zero-hat Lopporits that cycles between like 4-5 hairstyle for years like in the case of a certain big-cat race, which basically just furry Lalafell.

There's a relatively easy middle ground to this. All you need is to create a Fashion Accessory that's a 'Potion of Miniaturization' or a 'Lagomorph Potion' to allow players to temporarily glamour themselves as Loporrits. You wouldn't have to worry about gear/hairstyles/combat animations then, so it should be straightforward to implement in a shorter timeframe.

However they added viera due to all the threads asking for them non stop. Even more so after we got the Ivalice raid in Stormblood. Hrothgar was added because of repeated threads asking for a less humanoid race.

i love the idea of them being a playable race too! it would be nice to see them being implemented

IMO I would say Loporrits wouldn't even need as many customization options. I feel like most players would be fine with a few face options along with choices of fur color and just ignore the whole hairstyles thing and instead make sure Loporrits could atleast visibly wear any piece of headgear in the game. A complaint alot of hrothgar and viera players have atm as well. Though I'd probably argue that I'd want any helmet worn by a loporrit to be open faced. Idk I think it would just look more appropriate for them

Yeah, they did say so after AuRa.
But after all the criticism from Viera and Hrothgars limitations (eventho it was known way ahead and people said they were fine with it) I can't see that SE want to go through with another race again.

But yeah, people were pretty much like that with Viera and Hrothgar, "people would be fine" but see where we are now on that aspect.
Never underestimate that when people get something they will want more and more.

ok, at this point, at the rate things are going, it's going to be another 5 or 10 years before Vierra and Hrothgar are caught up in the headgear department, if ever? (I mean they might hire additional hands and knock it out, but...)

So you introduce another race that will also require a lot of extra work to make every piece of headgear work, what do you do?

1. Put in all the work, pulling all the all-nighters, resorting to slave labour, to get all headwear working at launch only to incite the wrath of every Viera and Hrothgar player?

2. Release them with only a few things working, only giving them new headwear alongside or after Viera and Hrothgar, probably extending the process another decade.

And you can't just ignore hairstyles. Hairstyles are an expected feature in this game. They would need to make sure everyone understands. Everytime they talk about them leading up to release they would need a slide stating in huge red letters, in every language: "Loporrits get no Hairstyles!". They might change the name of the race to "No Hair Loporrits" (pun intended). And you would still have people at launch saying "I fantasiaed (sp?) to No Hair Loporrit and I can't change my hair, what gives Yoshi P!?"

It's kobayashi maru!

This is extremely unlikely to happen. Even ignoring the fact that the drama surrounding the latest races added (that were added after they said "We're not adding any more races."), they, again, said no more races. Definitely won't be any because of the same issues they're running into with Viera head gear.

Also, it doesn't make sense from a story perspective and story is everything. MSQ definitely has you "discovering" the Loporrits for the first time in EW, it wouldn't make sense for someone in ARR to be seeing them run around and then be surprised at the sight of them (especially if that person is playing one).

They are what Viera should have been!!

Can't wait for the topic in 5 years : Earless new hairstyles look terrible !

That being said i agree, i would love to be able to play as lopporits :3

With what Square-Enix did to Hrothgar and the new hairstyles I would say the last thing they need to do is add another race. The team, currently, still needs lots of skill just doing hairstyles the RIGHT way for races. They sure as hell don't need to add another race. That needs to be their last focus within the game.
