When will we get more traditionally masculine hair/clothes?

i feel as though the majority of cash shop sets released recently and a lot of hairstyles added throughout shadowbringers have been designed with female characters in mind and aren't at all appealing to me and others like me who enjoy traditionally masculine aesthetics

there are numerous characters s they could draw inspiration from for these as i feel they fit the bill rather well, and many of them are very popular within the fanbase. characters such as rauhban, estinien, gaius, nero, edmont, cid (we got his outfit but not his hair. why?, leofard (the guy from hw alliance raids),heck even emet-selch

I'd really like to see alot of the Final Fantasy hairstyles from the other numbered and spinoff series make an appearance in this game. The devs did it with Type-0, so I hope they start doing that again. Those this time picking hairstyles that stand out more. There were a few of the Type-0 hairs that just looked too similar to eachother.

One hairstyle I've been thinking of that I'd like to see added to the game is Bathier from FF12's hairstyle.

His hairstyle is pretty simple, but also unique and stands out. Sort of slick back, but spiky-ish on the top and sides at the same time. Along with the sides looking to be sort of shaved down compared to the top. Plus the unique point side burns too. I'd love to use this this on my Roe or Elezen.

Edit: I forgot to say "Male Hairstyles in mind" with my post, lol! There are plenty of male characters in the FF series that have more than anime protagonist spiky hair that could fit well in this game.

Another that comes to mind is Basch, also from FF12 before he shaved his beard and cut his hair. Thought how that'd really look good for a more rugged and tough appearance.

New face and beard options would also be cool. There is only one face in the game that looks older than 30 and you have to be an elezen to have it.

Instructions unclear, have some more Spiky Anime Protag.

A plethora of undercuts and Thor-esque hairstyles would do wonders. Some non gender neutral glamour would be appreciated to.

I'd like to see hair variety - like more dreads/ better styled afro's & male oriented braids/ warrior like hairstyles, and different military type hair cuts (some can be more grown out on the top of the head)
Short buzz cuts WITHOUT some dumb tribal cut into the scalp, curly hair & more mohawk variations

I’m also wondering this. It seems like lately we’ve just been constantly getting “gender neutral” hair and clothes which is really just incredibly feminine hair with bows and curls and what have you. When are we gonna see beards? Or some armor on healers instead of the same feminine healing robes? I still can’t believe they gave males Rydia’s outfit for healers….it’s literally a girl outfit.

Gear from the new alliance raid looks amazing, yet the healer/caster looks significantly different than the rest and... Surprise, surprise, the same holy priestess aesthetic or whatever. I swear, they design healer/caster gear for WHM only.

The Radiant set, although still a robe of sorts, does have scale and armored parts. It looks like they might be trying to break out of the robe sets a little but like a bad addiction can't seem to really shake it.

If you want peak masculinity, just go bald. Baldness is a result of high testosterone, after all.

the best hair hair coming up for women is Lyse's ponytail. and maybe im biased but its bc i and many others made threads requesting that hair for a long time.

i agree though, need more male /masculine oriented hairs- less anime protag hairs also, no more gender neutral even if GN isn't their goal, it rarely looks good.

Beard rare and unfamiliar in their race and they are mostly inspired from their own race..
I think a example for request necessary. They are already working on graphic upgrade they might consider request (assuming if request reaches them).

I am guessing they want the standard masculine Pidgey hair style, along with a bottle of protein as an accessory they can add to their character.

Agree. most Au Ra hairstyles just aren't for me for this reason. There's one somewhat but not too feminine hairstyle already available in game that i'd kill to have. Only problem, its exclusive to male miqo'te :(. Also why does Varshahn's hairstyle (adventure) change into something completely different for females?

Not only would masculine gear be nice (especially for healer sets), but definitely "traditional" gear. Nearly all the glamour gear added is something that looks like it belongs in Phantasy Star Online 2 or a much more futuristic game. I know there's no time period you can really compare the game to in real life, especially so after the last expansion, but I want to look like an adventurer ready to go out and fight/explore not like I'm about to hit up the skate park or mall.

Less restrictions? YES. Glamour game not so great due to the class/job/role restrictions. And there's only so much you can do with level 1 glamours before everyone looks alike (which we do). The general consensus is that everything but AF gear should be unrestricted and/or if you've got the specific gear for the appropriate job level, then said gear (glamour) could be available across all other jobs.

Im a female playing females but absolutely wanted to voice my support for this.

"The Monsuta Man" is actually "The Monsuta Woman" because the majority of male options look feminine, so I figured, "Why not just play a straight up female?"

No regrets.

I would really like to see beard options. I was really looking forward to getting the stubble for everyone, only for that to simply be released as an extra hyur head only (They even said about taking so long with it because they wanted to get it to fit each face and it was a big undertaking).

I know it's not ideal, but I would like something like stubble to be added to the facepaint. They added freckles to this, so stubble wouldn't be a problem (but they seriously need to look at the available colour choices as they're very limited currently).

More beard options in the extras tab would be much more welcome to things like scars (the scars look a bit silly to me tbh - like when a kid draws one on with marker at halloween, and they would fit easily into the facepaint options for those that do like them).
I do understand just how awful most of the beards look in this game however. They tried adding a few as head gear when this was first discussed, but all we got were a mustache and (terrible) santa beard.


as for clothes, I'd really like that leather jacket we have to have something like a tshirt under it instead of a turtleneck, of all things. Imagine the leather jacket we have, but with a Primals band t-shirt under it! I would lose my mind. They could also do a sleeveless version of the same thing or even a denim jacket. I have faith the devs will give us stuff like this in due course though.

Male pattern Baldness is a form of genetic Alopechia, DHT does not have a massive effect on balding it does have an effect on the strength of the hair. You can have really thick and strong hair and still bald for that reason. Also, DHT is relatively low in men because its really strong.

It really does feel like most of the hair in the game caters to femme/androgyne beauty standards. There's not very many short hairstyles and a lot of them that are actually going for something that I would consider traditionally masculine aren't done quite right. Take the male hairstyle you get as part of the wedding quest--it's technically right but in specific the way the hair lays is weird. It's going for a 1950s newscaster kind of vibe (which I love), but fails horrifically to hit that point because of some weird anti-gravity decisions.

Fallout 4 is probably a good place to start if you want to think about new hairstyles that would be nice. It's an old game so you know it doesn't need a lot of tech to pull it off and they have entire categories of male hair represented there that SE hasn't touched in 8 years.

Something else to keep in mind is the Traditionally Masculine WESTERN hairstyles tend to be on the short/close-cut side and those styles are significantly associated with work in Japan. On the other hand, Anime Protagonist and Host Club hairstyles have the association with escapism and Cool Factor which is what video game fashion's all about right?

If you go into a Japanese super market you'll see 99% of the people there are women, 0.2% are Japanese men buying alcohol and drinking snacks, and the rest just maybe are a mix of foreigners. Japan is overwhelmingly Japanese and fashion/style reflects that, unlike more diverse nations like the US, UK, and Germany.

No, you and the other are trying intentionally to fail to understand make it hard. No brown thing there is different cultures. Yet we getting only girl hairstyles as "unisex" is directly affected by two things. Money, no budget to create two unique styles which fit the sexes and politics aka pandering

we used to get two hairstyles per patch (after they finished doing the type-0 hairs) and one used to be masculine and the other feminine, now we just get feminine hairs. *shrug*

But also more importantly I would like to see beard and facial hair not tied to a face but I guess that's not easy or even possible to change at this point.

I would be satisfied with EYEBROWS.
