SE apparently appreciates and acts upon a feedback. Pros and cons of the new "improved" way of acquiring a house are much in detail discussed within tons of other threads and posts, so I'll keep this short and sweet.

Yes that's my feedback. Of course the community on here, may or may not respectfully agree/disagree, but that's besides the point.

I wonder if SE has a stake in some shady RMT syndicate, coz all it does is hugely favors FC selling, limited by 30 days of wait (or just simple instant character delete). So much for "integrity".

Once again: SE, you suck!

A bit harsh but I can't say I disagree. Well, other than the RMT rant.

I love the housing decisions. Just wish they sent me one of those big tins of popcorn for all of the forum entertainment they have provided.

Try doing the instant delete if you dare.

Words going around are that the FC gets auto dissolved and the FC estate auto demolished if no one else in the FC were members for at least 30 days. So at least SE did close the loophole which certain players are trying to exploot.

Its been tested on the reseller discord. 2 people confirm that deleting the FC owner, when there are no other over 30 day characters instantly dissolves the FC. Meaning the house is destroyed and becomes available for all.

If they wanted to be making money off house sales, they'd just do it outright in the cash shop. No need to hide behind illicit RMT.

I think this is more a case of either someone on the team got lazy or some problem kept them from doing what they should have done - divided the wards world by world based on individual world needs. Some worlds might well benefit from having 75% of wards set aside for FCs due to a high number of FCs on those worlds. But it should have never dictated the ward distribution for lower pop worlds, or the new Materia worlds.

Still not going to stop RMT but at least SE thought that part of it through.

I don't feel the lottery is terrible. The fact that on day one we didn't see thousands or even 100s of entries is more interesting for me. Although, I'm sure that I will see a sharp uptick from people who are waiting for the last day to see which plot is the least popular and try and go for those... I still prefer lottery over the placard clicking personally. FC housing still having mostly zero peeps even trying for them is what's actually annoying me at this point. I just don't get how they didn't see how long housing remained vacant for FC only housing and only after personal was open that wards were being put to use by solo peeps...

I know they want the neighborhoods to be more lively but they need stop acting like FCs are the only ones that will make it that way. There's plenty of venue type houses that are not FC base that can help wards come to life as well. But I guess that doesn't matter. Anyway good luck to everyone who's trying to get a house o/.

I think any1 with a modicum of brains and tactical thinking will wait until last hour or so to enter on the plot that is least contested. The madness it yet to come.

I agree with this. Give us houses to decorate on those islands in development. Hell, give us FC islands where we can build neighborhoods of our own in small, ready-made wards. Make it a gil sink, even. It's all been done in other games, many of which had far less funding.

I'd pay $20 for a Medium plot that I owned until the servers shut down with no demolition, ever, even if I don't play for the next nine years.

Housing is a cultural problem as much as it is a scarcity problem. I'm from Spriggan, and I've seen entire wards owned by a single person, entire subdivisions being the same, a great deal of empty and unfurnished homes, and yet the apartments are all but empty, despite this vaunted 'demand'. Somewhere like Balmung is an easy fix of just getting more housing/apartments into the system, but somewhere like Spriggan (a server that was quiet until last year) needs a fundamentally different approach.

I've been playing 14 since last summer and only recently jumped into housing... Trying to get a house has been the most UNFUN I've had in a game the 20+ years I've been playing MMOs.

I sent feedback to SE saying so, because what else is there to do (besides breaking ToS)? After spending 18 total hours placard clicking with the old system, I absolutely fumed after watching bots and AFK scripters win house after house. Then, I was gutted to see SE's 75% free company ward decision the day this new lottery system rolled out.

At this point in time, I think we can only hope for the best and keep providing feedback to SE. Personally, I'm of the mind that I pay a sub and should be able to receive housing with everything it comes with, just like other homeowners.

I have a beautifully furnished apartment that I spent 9 days decorating. I have my 2 gardening pots, a crystal bell and retainer bell. I would love a bit more space (a small will do for this lil lala), a yard, and the experience of being part of a neighborhood without the instance factor that comes with apartments. If that is not possible for everyone, I vote for instanced housing for all. I have a lot of opinions on this matter and joined the forums because I don't know what else to do as an active player. We'll see how the lottery goes, but I for one, so far am not impressed and see that there is a ways to go before every player who wants one can own a home.

Think of it like this from a business standpoint I believe the reason they are so bent on not doing instance housing or permanent plots is because having the housing system like it is keep people subscribed. They are called anchor plots for a reason. Think about it if you try for week, months or even years on end to get a house and you finally manage to get one, are you likely to unsubscribe and loose it? I would say hell no. Scarcity attracts people to something makes them want it more so people who have plots do not want to give it up. The best I will ever see square do is make more and more wards with time. So banking or hoping on them making instance housing you have a better chance finding bigfoot in your backyard.

I would say they don't have anything to worry about subscribers counts now. They are the big MMO on the block. They have beat their competitors by simply producing a better game. How? By listening to their players. Personally I want more apartment options with variety that are a little more than a consolation prize for not getting a house or a more expensive FC room. Incidentally, I have created a request thread for this purpose.

I'm always amazed by how toxic and childish the people on these forums are when the actual player base is known for being friendly and wholesome

Where I come from, expressing dis-illusion, discontent and outrage about something, in a friendly and wholesome manner can be rather difficult. Especially if it sucks just like SE does. Or would you like " thank you SE for your continuous work to improve your game we love to play, it's just, how do I put it, there's some space for improvement as far as your housing is concerned, would you liek to take onboard this very slight suggestion of mine, pls make more wards private - I know you care about player feedback a great deal and will definitely do your utmost to accommodate us."

Surprisingly it does work. But far less sarcastic and just using basic courtesy, more like this (I am going to do something of an English version of a Japanese forum post, these are not my views :P).

Is it just me or all prime plot in in the new war are so damn farm from a market board while all cheap one have one right in front?

Some people may disagree with this but you are right. I can definitely say there's been several months where I subscribed just to enter my house and keep it from demolishing precisely because I knew how scarce houses were, especially within the last 2-3 years. And I know of other people who have done the same.

One small, one medium and one large have marketboards next to them. All the other plots require a short run (even if it looks like it's next to a marketboard on the map, you usually need to run around the plot and up some stairs).

I believe my OP will - in the light of the new development (or lack thereof) - maintain its course!

I feel like feedback on any forum besides JP is just tossing your opinion into the void so have my opinion void. SE needs to re-evaluate housing I should not be paying the same amount of money as someone else but not have the ability to use a key feature of the game without having to win a literal dice roll.

This 100% instead of FC buying up entire wards they can build one up on their own.

The thing about all of this that, in hindsight, perhaps I misunderstood was making ALL wards FC only for wards 1 through 19. I was under the apparent misapprehension that it would ONLY apply to Ishgard. What is happening now that the first lotto session is ending is houses on my server are opening up FROM INDIVIDUALS that are left behind in now FC only wards. Quite frustrating.

The fact that LotR online does housing wards better than FFXIV is exhausting. Square just do instanced housing for personals I'm begging you. It's so frustrating seeing new pretty housing items be such a focus of resources that we see them every patch (a lot of which are outdoor only) and yet housing isn't available for everyone. Of course people will be upset. Several features of the game are locked behind housing as well (gardening being a big one).

This is one of the biggest issues in the game and it needs to be properly addressed, not bandaid fixed into oblivion leaving a bulk of the playerbase out of luck. Especially if you are going to continue making housing items rewards for events (which up until recently, a lot of them were outdoor only too).

You didn’t see huge numbers of entries because there are more FC houses available than there are FC’s. Half of the FCs aren’t even active anymore. And many are made up of just one person. They literally gave thousands of houses to FCs when it’s the general pop that wants houses now. No one in my FC owns their own house but most have been trying for months if not years.

Add insult to injury we had 9 members bid on one large in Ishgard…winning number…0

Yeah I had to settle for a tiny apartment sadly I have a stock of out door items I can't even so much use which is a shame cause the BBQ pit from MH would be a neat little thing to set outside.

I'll be honest, I'm kinda surprised they haven't tried to ease things by allowing apartments to have instanced balconies so players at least have SOMEPLACE to put outdoor furnishings.

Honestly if they just let you expand your rooms for apartments its wouldn't be so bad and the excuse could be magic like they did for belts removal for Endwalker.
