Is SAM still a job after that 6.1 patch ?

Hello everyone,

I started FF14 a bit more than a year ago. I have been through the entire lore with this job, through all the main quests and through all the dongeons and raids I unlocked, well, through all I know about this game. This job is a very important part of what made me love FF14. I never post anything on forums but here I see it as a duty to support all the SAM players that we are here.

I understand SE tries to make changes on jobs and other stuff of the game as it's how it goes for most games and even more MMORPGs since it's hard to balance everything.

But here what ? Why ? Samurai was good how it was, the gameplay felt satisfying enough and the damages where good as well I dont really get why it needed to be flaten like that. With Endwalker and the RPR as a new job, I already felt a bit frustrated because for me it looked like a job that would do approximately the same damage but with a group utility on top, what we dont have as SAM. But it was ok, the satisfaction I got from playing samurai was above everything, I loved it. Kaiten + Midare crit + kaiten + kaeshi setsugekka crit was one of the combo that made me felt the happiest among all the games I ever played.

But here my thoughts, despite all the love I have for this SAM, what are the pros of playing it now ? Like what is our identity ? Clicking the glowing buttons and nothing more ? Even getting a crit on on a Midare won't be a suprise anymore so you took that from us as well. The crit will just become the normal damage we expect from it. Can't see from which part of the gameplay will we get satisfaction now I'm sorry. It makes me sad it seems that the devs didn't understand what being a SAM in this game meant, or maybe they didn't care

So here my word to SE please take all our player reviews in account. Put back the identity of the SAM : high damage combos (and unexpected crits) and the satisfaction we get from the sound of our katana slicing the air while throwing a kaiten. Not average combos that are easier to throw in the battle and make us loose what we love that much.

It's a bit late now, but just so you know: Kaiten before any Tsubame-Gaeshi action was pointless because Kaiten only buffed weaponskills and Tsubame-Gaeshit stuff aren't weaponskills.

Thank you for the tips still ! I loved SAM and how it made me feel while playing it but yes I didn't go too deep in the rotation and skill by skill change because I don't have enough experience on it yet as some players have played it since SB, and will be more qualified than me to talk about the technical stuff ! I only played Samurai at a casual level, but I can't believe this level of ineptitude to change a job like this for reasons that don't exist.

And also nerfed sam potential for damage and also made it a griefer if you have crit buffs in a team.

It's not only kaiten removal is a problem you know.

Its only a job in Pvp, they ruined the pve experience based on nothing.

It's not the loss of Kaiten but the potency nerfs. My midares hit for 20k now.

I hit 20k easy without kaiten or a crit. Now, with autocrit, I hit the same. It doesn't FEEL good. it's lackluster seeing your ogi namakiri crit for 19K when you saw 55ks literally the week before on P1S.

I am 100% sure you have never touched SAM. Go away.

SE destroyed everything to love about sam and now we're stuck with this bs for a whole patch. Its so infuriating. The one job I love and they go and do this for no damn reason. CRINGE!
