The house owner take a break. Can I take the house?

Hello, everyone.

I have a question.

I share a House with someone and that person would like to take a probably longer break from Final Fantasy. The person owns the house and I'm just a roommate.

Now both of us couldn't figure out what happens when the main owner comes over the 31 days. Do we both lose the house then? Will the house then be transferred to me? I hope that someone can help me there

Tenants cannot reset the timer so if the owner does not log into game and enter their house for 45 days the house will go poof.

Demolitions are off right now, but to cover all chances, if they are not coming back in time, you should take the furniture you really want to keep, or it could be lost.

If it is a personal house that you are a tenant of, the house will demolish after 45 days of inactivity (assuming auto demo is enabled) on the OWNER’s end. You will be able to see the demo timer, but you will not be able to reset it. You also can not be transferred ownership of a personal house.

If its a FC house, you will be passed leader after 35 days of your friend being inactive. You’ll also be able to reset the timer at any time.

Just to clarify: inactivity means not entering the house in 45 days - the house itself, not the yard! Even if the owner is still active and playing the game, if they dont enter their house it doesnt matter.

This is completely correct, although I just wanted to also clarify further that the demolition timer will only show up on the timers page (on the second tab) once it gets to 30 days of inactivity (owner not having entered house for personal house or any FC member for an FC house).

I don't know why they don't just make the timer visible all the timer, but that's just how they did it.

Not entering is wrong.

There are plenty of people who lose their homes because they just go in.

It's about interacting with the house: Bell, FC chest, etc.

No, entering is enough. I know I have reset the timer just by entering the house.
There are some reports that there is some kind of bug where the timer doesn't reset until you interact with something in the house, but that is not how it is supposed to work, and not how it normally works.

I feel like those people who said that are just do some fearmongering to be honest... Never I had report someone still losing a house because of not interacting inside the house.

I had a friend whose demolition timer did not reset even though he had been in his house the day before. One of my alts was tenant so I could see the demo timer was still active. I let him know and he was confused. He went into his house. It didn't reset. He logged out of the game then back in, re-entered his house. It didn't reset (I'm refreshing my alt's Estate timers while this is going on). At that point he interacted with his Summoning Bell and then Timers showed it reset to both of us.

I don't think it's intended to require interacting with an object but things can be bugged. Interacting with an object ends up a safety measure.

I simply just don’t get it how can a house owner lost their plot if you put a repair npc and just use it daily.
I mean how difficult could it be?
You must need a repair after finished duty, why not just port back to your house and repair.

Why would one ever want to use a repair npc? Much easier and better to repair the gear yourself.

I'm sure that works in most cases. I half wonder if my friend's problem might have been related to connection issues (he was using a mobile hotspot that wasn't exactly reliable at the time).

I'll admit I had been a skeptic myself when it came to others claiming that entering their house didn't reset the timer. It took that incident with my friend to make me see that it truly does happen. Since then I've always encouraged others to make a habit of interacting with an object in their house just to be on the safe side.

Crafters don't need a Mender. Self repair is more convenient, cheaper and lasts longer. I haven't used a Mender on this character since Heavensward so have no need for one in my house.

To me a Summoning Bell makes the most sense between retainer ventures for easy gil and inventory management. Those are useful to every player.

This group of people probably don't pay attention to emails coming into their inbox

What "basic function"? Repairing gear is not a basic function of housing, and not a reason to get a house in the first place.
Unless you are too lazy to level crafters, there is rarely any point in using NPC menders at all - one is better off without using them.

Quite possible since a lot of players (myself included) tend to have email addresses specific for their gaming and so rarely have reason to check them frequently unlike a main email address. I check mine roughly every 2-3 weeks, long enough that I could fail to see the email before demolition has occurred. It won't be an issue for me since I'm actively using my house daily but it could be a problem for someone who doesn't.

Then again, we've also had the stories of players getting emails notifying them about a scheduled demolition for a house they (or their FC) don't own in addition to the stories where someone said an email was never received. Is SE sending the email to the wrong player in some cases?

Bugs happen, just as in the case of my friend that didn't have a timer reset until he used his Summoning Bell.

What would be helpful is if SE got rid of the separate tab for Estate timers and displayed them on the main Timer page instead. An active demolition timer would be far more likely to be noticed there. House demolition could listed at the top, with workshop status listed at the bottom.

As far back was I can remember, we had to interact with something in the house to count as having been in it. Because of that, I always sent my retainers out on ventures right before logging out to make sure the game knew I was in there.

I don't take a chance I go in and always interact with a vendor there be it the mender or whoever.
