Why are blue rings unique?

Talking about the savage raid and current tome stone rings primarily.

My particular gripe here is that there is simply no choice for the player. You HAVE to wear one of each.

Every other piece at least has one other choice at the same ilvl. Sure there is only the raid weapon at 605, but it always comes with good stats. All other items besides the ring has 2 choices. This is very important. If able, you will naturally pick the piece that suits you better for your job.

If u don't want to have speed stat in particular (or u want a particular amount), u can go ahead and pick the one with or without it. This is simply not true for rings and it is very annoying. The tank tome ring has skill speed on it (let's not even talk about how absolutely poorly that ring is statted and that u kind of have to wear that atrocious item).

I play a warrior. Okay so now skill speed is forced onto me if I want to have the best gear. What if I want to play a clean 2.5 GCD? I am pigeon holed into using the crafted and pentamelded ring that is 20ilvls lower. Ugh. Yes there is a 2.4 GCD BiS that makes use of the ring. But that option is not really an option as the very fact of having to wear the tome ring eliminates other choices (such as a clean 2.5 GCD). Also fun fact, if we could wear 2 of the same rings, a 2.5 warrior set with double raid ring puts the 2.4 BiS to shame (that's how bad speed is on warrior and some other jobs).

TLDR: Please make all current blue rings NOT unique. A finicky stat like speed should not be forced onto the player, and more importantly the player needs to be able to have a choice in the rings they want to use, just like every other item.

The reason they are unique is so that you don't buy two of the other pieces by accident and then you will be much more unhappy.

But that is exactly what i want. Get 2 of the same.

It is probably meant to give people incentive to do both grinds for their rings.

That is a pretty lame reason. Anyone that wants good stats and raids will have to make use of tomestone gear. Raid gear is not always the best for ur job. Conversely, nothing in the world is going to make u want to raid if u dont want to raid.

Uniqueness is just an unnecessary limitation that needs to go.

One ring isn't going to make or break a job's performance either, to be fair. lol I don't really care whether this is changed or not, but I also don't feel that it is necessary.

So you have to buy crafting gear.

Part of the reason was for glamour purposes, before the actual glamour system was added, allowing two different style rings to be equipped (it's a lame excuse I know, but there you are). As a glam enthusiast who has different rings glamoured (my wedding ring on my left hand and the Meteor Survivor ring on the other) I can appreciate the sentiment, but yeah, it's frustrating stat wise trying to build up BiS gear and having to equip a slightly lesser ring due to the 'Unique-Untradable' status of tomestone/endgame 'blue' gear.

SE have heard the complaints though and have been slowly changing older blue/tomestone rings by removing the 'unique' status for them, however this is a slow process and the current endgame/blue rings (Moonward, Radiant, Asphodelos etc) still have the 'unique' status and so you can't equip two of the one type. It's likely they'll get to the current ones eventually, but, we'll see. :(

Even if rings are not unique you still are able to equip two different rings...

Since they've now removed unique from every non-current tomestone ring it seems fair to conclude that current rings are kept unique intentionally. While you may disagree, it probably does get enough players to try out even just the first fight of savage that SE deemed this system worth keeping.

If you don't want to raid, then having messy stats doesn't matter.

I can come up with reasoning for the raid rings to be unique, so people aren't able to continue rolling after they have 2.

Tomestone rings being unique and then them removing that tag whenever it's not max level anymore has definitely been a strange decision for me. Maybe the goal is to try to force people into other content.

All savage loot is now in coffers. You can have every single possible ring and still roll on one.

It's not a "slow process", it's what they explicitly said, that tomestone rings from old expansions would be updated to be non-unique. Shadowbringers tome rings were made rings were made non-unique when Endwalker released. Endwalker tomes rings will be made non-unique when the next expansion launches.

Oh man i wanna get 10/20 more ilvls on my ring, ive never done savage b4 but lets go!!!! Clear that P1S at 4 most times wohoo! Does anyone even think like that? Maybe the occasional person sure, i seriously doubt this is a good general incentive. ATM u can only augment ur tome gear via raid drops/books. I think that is a much better incentive.

"Xeno rings bell" WRONG WRONG WRONG! When it comes to rolling, it only checks if u have the same coffer already in ur possession in ur personal inventory (not choco saddle or retainers). This only stops u from getting two ring coffers in one go in case 2 of them drop (which is RNG).

I think blue ring is unique cuz:
-SE wants you to outsource the second ring in some other contents (crafted ring from marketboard counted cuz sellers will have to get crafters) instead of just spamming a content over and over.
-You won't have to worry about the second tome-cap ring or waste a weekly raid reward slots for another normal-raid ring, let you have more resources to invest in other role's gear instead.

Right, but that still limits the number you can roll on; If you have all of the rings, you can't open the coffer right? If you have a coffer you can't get another one. It still limits the number that you can possibly get, even though that number is 1 of each + 2 coffers + 1 coffer per retainer.

It's not a good reason at all and I doubt that is why they do it, but it still limits the number you can get (unless you continue to just throw away the coffers that you can't open, which would be dumb).

I see u wanna keep pressing this issue. U cannot open a coffer in an instance. It says so in the description. If u have every ring u could possibly want, u can still roll on them, only thing stopping u is ur morals: hey i dont need these any more, ill just pass. I would not call having all rings and having at least 4 extra ring coffers a limitation. I dont know what ur point is really, pls just drop this.

Im guessing this is a consequence of bad game design, we don't have different rings with different stats that both tanks and melee can wear anymore and there really is no reason to keep them unique really.

^ This. They changed this for the ilvl 530 gear (level 80) in Eulmore, and you can buy two of the same there now. So, it is exactly intentional in their methods at max level. Before, the Aug. Crystarium was unique with respect to rings, and I believe it was also changed for level 70 as well (ilvl 430?).
