Ok. Behest needs a level restriction.

I'm getting quite tired of wanting to do a behest, but someone of an enormously high level joins the behest and plays solo.

This not only cranks up the monster level too high to manage, but the high-leveled player just plows through all the monsters in seconds. The only exp I get in the entire ordeal is whatever exp bonus I get just for joining.

There was a level 35 doing a Camp Bearded Rock behest. 35!

It happens all the time and I wish something would be done about this.

Well on the bright side, they'll probably move on once they reach the achievement for having done x number of behests there. Not much to do about it sadly.

What's not to like? The bonus exp is the prime reason most people do them anyways. If you want the mobs, I'm sure you can find a sweet grinding spot out there.

Missing the point.

Rather than fight them about it, why not ask them to powerlevel you during the behest?
That way, everybody wins.

when i saw others doing it that were low level i always made sure they had all the claims, wasnt that hard to do, just gott abe a bit social to get them to do it

If SE removes the achievements then I'll stop doing them, till then no, or find a nice high lvl to actually pl you off them.

I have to admit that this does annoy me with the achievements though. When achievements were introduced, I was thrilled and was willing to overlook the fact that all my previous work did not count against them. I bought into the argument that the poor original design was the reason data was not kept. I also consoled myself by thinking that the dev team had learnt their lesson and from that point on they were collecting ALL data that might concievably be used for any future achievements and would apply them when new achievenemnt were introduced (I know, silly me).

I could still overlook that but when they introduce achievements like this one it really does make me wonder what they were thinking. All the players with no low level class left now have 2 options:

* Be nice to other players and pretty much ignore the achievements for the behests at lower level camps. My original plan was to wait until new classes were introduced and get these achievements while levelling those classes but then someone pointed out that because of the map redesign some of the areas may not be around by then so it's a case of now or never.

* Screw over the low level players like the OP describes and make Eorzea a more unfriendly place in the process of getting my achievements.

Since I assume the achievements were introduced with the goal of having people actually do them I can only assume the devs decided that it doesn't matter if it makes players annoy each other along the way. In my case, I know this dilemma could have been mostly avoided if SE had just started to keep this information when the first achievements were released since at tha point I still had several lower level classes.

oh yea.. just a heads up! i might be doing those, so...... if you see me, ask me to get claim first.. :D

I never understood the point of getting achievements that offer little/no reward other than bonus numbers...

I mean it's like, Congrats, you win at spamming an event x number of times. You are the hero. Here's 10 points. And maybe a silly title that doesn't really pertain to you as a person.

At least crafting/leveling achievements offer something useful...

is something to work for, like a goal or something.

Just ask nicely if you can get xp. I've found most folks don't mind letting you get initial claim. Just uh, try to survive those few seconds for them to pull hate off you.

I see we are on the same server. I don't think I have ran into you before either, but if I were to ever happen onto the same behest with you, I'd easily let you get claim first and then kill it for you. I've done it before, and the low levels were happy about it. It's a win/win situation.

What class would you rather I change to?
I can't play it as a level 15 Carpenter!

Whenever I do join I change to Bard and kill whatever the other players claim without joining their party. It's the least I can do without stealing all of the experience points.

In fact I wouldn't even say stealing as I'm not gaining any!

Yes I hate people doing this, especially when there's a party of people during the behest at the level it's meant to be done. Then a level 50 player comes along, killing all the mobs, and we are forced to choose between not getting any EXP or being PL'd. When this happens, I usually just move to another camp and let the level 50 player have that one.

And again SE Level-Synch is a solution here too!

Every time I do the low level behests I just tell everyone else to party up and make the claims first before I wipe the mobs out... They don't mind and I need to do it for the achievements anyway.

Funny thing is, the achievements were designed with new people in mind, you know, those who will be joining the game for the first time and will be reaching camp bearded rock for the first time and partake in behests to try to gain supplemental xp while grinding/leves?

The problem is people of high levels feel it was added purely for them, which was not the case for a lot of these low level stuff, which is why people complained about the Luminary tools being "unfair" when you level a DoH from 1-50 you basically will get your tool VERY shortly after you hit 50.

Though a lot of the responses in this thread is exactly why this MMO will be destined to fail even if it plays perfectly at 2.0's launch.

you could kill non behest mobs while he kills the behest mobs. then you could get the bonus for doing nothing and still xp on mobs.

Or just a cap in place. Leves/Behest can benefit greatly from being capped while Dungeons could benefit from level syncing if you absolutely need level sync for dungeons, even though most are designed for 45-50 which would mean only Toto-Rak would benefit from level sync (atm) given that shophsae is basically just an open world dungeon, which is how they should have made the others but i digress.

Apparently those people that kill all the behest mobs before you... are probably players you don't want to associate with anyway... I am currently getting the behest achievements done but unfortunately there are some I don't have any classes that level.
If I see someone else doing them at that level, I PL them without even saying anything. I don't like being selfish...

why do you want lvl sync, when they raise the lvl cap you might finally get your av cc wins:)

Imagine a level cap, some cutscenes, and more interesting (maybe dynamic) objectives on leves/behests. Mmmmmm... yummy easy content to be enjoyed when not doing end-game stuff.

Ooh, burn. So what, I haven't beaten CC or AV yet. I'm holding out for an all LS win vs getting the win with a pick up group, which anyone can do. The achievement, or lack-there-of, is not an indicator of skill level. Go back to your hole, troll.

nice guys let me claim the mobs and then they killed it for me while I tried killing them also so I get the EXP while they still get their achievements, should ask them next time.

When i did my achievments and saw there are ppl taking part i switched to WHM, let dem get claim and just helped them not to die. That way they got all the exp and they killed the mobs by their own (ok, a little PL was the cure, but dont hurt that much imo ^^) untill they asked me to kill the mobs for them to speed it up.

I wish there were more players like you.

Personally, I don't want to be PL'd at all, and I wish people would be polite enough to ask before doing that. ._.
