North American is getting 4th data center soon.

Which means more players who are getting to play my favorite mmorpg game. However, it would be great if SE decided to move 2 Data Center to the East Coast of North America as future announcement for next expansion.

Places like Washington in state of Maryland, New York city in the state of New York or Chicago in state of Illinois.

Data Center like Primal or Newer one to East while keeping Crystal and Aether as West.

The move would fix a lot network issues due how the North American infrastructure is not that great. Plus, mitigated ping issues for South American players due to wacky routing they have to the game. If oceanie players can have servers, then there a chance east coast players of America can have it too!

Aether already handles east coast so better to move it.

NTT hosts the NA and JP data centers. Considering the options outside their home of California, and Sacremento being the current data center for all NA. Dallas or New York would be logical destinations.

It's great news. And hopefully can be placed to help all my many fine Canadian, USAian, and LATAM friends.

(I do feel they will merge them all into one physical location though, as they did talk about multiple 8's without a split.)

OCE DC is also NTT. Anything built will most certainly remain with this company, either the same DC for space and cost reasons, or into Dallas or NY as you mention, to help geographically diversify and help more people with better ping.

Without the cross DC travel in place, it will cause some disruption, as we OCE players are noticing. And if they move one of the three existing NA DC's those people could end up worse off, or better off - the ones worse off can transfer out, but will loose their homes, as a bunch of OCE players have.

But it's worth it, despite the pain, should it come to pass that Canada's, LATAM's and USA's players can be helped with ping, then all that inconvenience pays off - just as it has for us OCE people.

No way in Hell they make a second physical location. Would be great. Would love it to be closer. Never gonna happen.

They're adding a fourth logical data center. That means another chunk of servers, co-located in the same place as the existing data center. That's not the same as another physical data center.

Considering their plans include adding intra-physical data center travel soon, but not cross-physical data travel, having a 4th logical data center in a different physical location would also mean that data center is cut off from the rest of them, which would defeat the purpose of having intra-physical data center on the same group of worlds in the first place!

Who cares at this point, any serious raider just uses that tool anyways. The genie is out of the bottle already. The only people who actually need more than that tool are people living in Newfoundland or something.

Best part about the half decent internet in the US is that even if I'm East Coast and server is West Coast, there's basically no lag anyways. At least not in my experience.

I know my request is money involves, however the request seem like next evolution for the game in NA. If Square Enix plays the card right they will make more money. Due to some old players decide to leave the game by frustration latency or disconnection of the servers nodes on west coast. Anyway, we got 10 more years to this game. They need to make the project more accessible everywhere to optimize profit.
