What's the meaning behind the rings? (spoilage)

What do these three arguably supreme beings have in common?

They have rings behind their heads.

What do the rings mean? Do you get a ring to hover behind your head when you apply to be a supreme being?

Are there any other bosses that have these rings?

If we ever get to see humanoid incarnations of the Twelve and they have rings behind their heads, I'm gonna lose it.

I assume they are a sort of halos.

They don't mean anything. As Tlamila said they're halos, as would be seen in classical depictions of religious figures. They are gods, after all, false or not.

it's a Halo, and is commonly used to indicate divinity. Divine beings of great power in most Eurasian and African cultures used the ring over the head to indicate a god or a person who was blessed by a god.

It’s the last boss halo. You can’t have a jrpg without a last boss halo.

It's a clear link betwixt the 14-verse and the Halo-verse. In sort I mean that SE is in secret collaboration with Microsoft to create such demand for 14 that that Sony had no choice but to be bought out by Microsoft to save the gaming industry by seeding 14 onto every machine that can run it. Also inter pot belly goblins from the 4th dimension.

Divinity.... or enlightenment.... or snappy fashion.

It also just looks aesthetically appealing.

Halos represent power and divinity. Plenty of beings in various TV shows, games, and movies have halos to display their status. I personally don't see a problem with it.

Halos are usually used to represent divinity in some way, shape or form. Most bosses with halos in this game, as one doesn't come to mind that has one and isn't, are related to divinity of some nature.

Also having excessive amounts of wings as per biblical angels.

The team tends to borrow imagery from a lot of different historical sources. Halos being a widespread one.

They're all over Mt. Gulg and the Innocence fight.

Zodiark and Cerberus in World of Darkness look much cooler with masks on.

As others mentioned, it's a halo - which denotes godly power or something similar. You could also argue that Shinryu has a halo in the final fight. Holding his godly power - YOU.
