So who is moving to OCE is it worth it?

Hi,
What are peoples thoughts on moving i cant decide, i live in Australia.

My concerns are.
*Will the ping be so much better than what it is now on Kujata, is there a way to test it yet?
*Is it worth giving up a house for?
*Will OCE be more toxic?
*Is 5 oce servers to many and will they mostly be empty for a long time?

I have no idea on how many OCE players there even are, and even if 50% move will it be enough to make it worth it.

I wonder if they would be better off bringing out 2 servers first and filling them rather than 5 and have people spread out .

Anyway just thinking out loud, let me know your thoughts/concerns/reasons.

Depends where you are and where the servers are... they might be Singapore, they might be Sydney. We don't yet know.

Housing should in theory be easy to get. I am not giving up my houses on the other servers.

I don't think so. But it will take some time for a community and values to form.

Likely yes, but it will make getting a house easier too.

I've played on dead servers before it's not too big a problem unless you are the sort of person who enjoys sitting in Linsa with lots of AFK people around you (I don't)

I forgot to mention i live in Australia.

I was under the impression that the servers where to be in sydney, ill have to do some research.

And my concern with "dead servers" is that que times will be very long for dungeons etc.

As I understand it the servers will be physically located in Australia, possibly in either Sydney or Melbourne (it may just be coincidence or just EW promotion but SE paid for an EW mural to be painted on a wall in Melbourne a month or two ago so I don't know if there is a connection to the planned AU server location), as this is what Yoshi stated, and why the Oceanic server group was delayed, it was due to Australia's closed border and lockdowns/pandemic restrictions on travel in both Japan and Australia prevented Yoshi and his team travelling here to inspect potential server hosts and oversee the project directly - as Australia's border is now opening and travel restrictions easing it's no wonder it's now been brought forward a few weeks.

Either way, I'm staying put on Balmung as my boyfriend is American as are most of my friends, and they're naturally remaining there. One friend is moving to the Australian servers though. But I have too many roots on Balmung to move now anyway.

So, I still call um... Balmung home?* :D

Queue times for dungeons are not a concern for me. There will still be a lot of people, likely many more than NA servers at 2am, and all servers in OCE form the queue.

The first few days should be lower level queues too, as I think, a lot of people will make a quick level 30 alt to get that million free gil. After that we will see.

(Should say, I am not taking my main over, I will do the level 30 thing, and then I have an alt to transfer who is almost ready to go now, just a few more gathering levels).

I think the general concencus is, assuming it suits your home region.

If you have a house - Not moving

If you have friends who are majority aren't movng - Not Moving

Otherwise - Yes.

I have a house.

Fairly new to the game so dont know alot of people.

My FC is moving , but thinking of making our own.

Ping is at 160 but with a program i can get 115.

With all that said the hardest thing would still be giving up the house.

I will be moving.giving up my apartment but they are refunding the cost of it ,a far better ping is totally worth it.i will be leaving my alts in NA and JPN

Keep in mind transfering will only be free for a short time. Once SE ends it you will have to pay again. You wont be given special treatment if you choose stay then after the free periods ends decide to move. Food for thought..

1) If you're in NSW/VIC/QLD you're probably looking at 20 ping. Not 180 like Kujata.

2) Dunno. Only you can answer that.

3) There will be a mix of JP-OCE, and NA-OCE. Both bringing their best and worst traits reflecting the communities they were in. Again, your call.

4) No one can honestly answer that.

I will be transferring. I already surrendered my house previously, and I'll be going for M or L on the least populated server. Because I'm still going to get dungeon, trial and raid pops just by being on the DC.

I know I am giving up organised Hunt Trains, but I don't really care for the rest.

We do organised hunt trains on Primal, this isn't a JP exclusive thing. Theres an enoumous discord community that collarborates.

I have a large house that I put a lot of effort into decorating.

I'll be clearing it out on Tuesday night ready for the big move.

I love housing and certainly hope to get another one but the chance to help create a data centre with its own unique identity and the idea of not screaming into the screen 'BUT I WAS OUT OF THAT BY MILES' as I fall lifeless to the floor is enough incentive to leave.

Also not having the PF being 70% JP only will be a nice change, not going to lie.

There will be enough of us over there to get content done and if we have to communicate a bit more in game to arrange things that will only be a good thing.

I'm excited, but I am also going to do a walk through video of my house so I have something tangible to sob over while I wait for the Materia housing savage event. I hope lots of people sit on the fence long enough that all the early adopters get their houses no worries! ;)

I will be going just for the 2x and gold chocobo feathers.

Will make an alt there to 30 for the 15 free game time days.

Im on Exodus and despite having a 800mbs connection still have poor lat. I upgraded for FFXIV alone trying to fix the lat.
Im REALLY hoping OCE servers will resolve that so def switching the first chance i get.

I have been thinking about trying for a house, can afford a small one at the moment but dont think that would be enough room, additionally, Do we really need to have a house when Islands Hit? Im unsure if it will be a waste of Gil or not going in for one.

You hit the nail on the head about the "Oh come on I wasn't even standing in that!" Its even worse as a dancer when you zoom out with your movement skill.... only to drop dead 1.5 seconds later outside of said damage area.

Small house is really quite a good size for decorating. In terms of the gil, you will be able to grow crops in it, to recoup money over time. That is if you can do the daily work for them. Thav Onions, Jute and a few other things will always sell. Don't forget if you start with a fresh character you will also get one-time 1 million gil by hitting level 30. I will be doing that, then transfering after. A trusted friend can help you with the moving of that gil gift, or if not, something on the MB will get you about 970,000 of it.

Islands, I am not sure on. I am in the camp who believes a lot of people will be really dissapointed. I think the "growth and placement of items" will be like what happens when you do beast tribes and the vendors slowly open.

The one thing about a house, i guess, is that you really can't unsub for a period. You need to keep your subscription up from then on.

I know I will be getting a lower ping on OCE. But I wont be moving unless if I can find a group of people I enjoy to play with.

I feel that! It happens to me on all jobs, but is most noticeable when on DRG. Since I don't do serious raiding, it's a small price to pay to play on a JP server from NA.


Some fights are so bad I have to jump off the edge to be certain I've avoided the mechanic. :P

There's a lot to be said for this. I had the same opportunity Back When in WoW when a new RP server opened and am very glad I took the chance. Not only will you have the chance to help mold the foundation of the server, but seeing it mature over time is quite satisfying.

Waiting with bated breath on the server IP so I can ping it. If it's a big gulf from 150 then I'll move on from EU.
Kind of saddening because I finally have friends where I am. But I hate the latency.

Moving because my girlfriend is, if it was an on my own decision, after the sudden "Maybes" about DC travel i'd be extremely hesitant now, but she wants to move and as such i shall be tagging along

My Aus friend will be moving from Kujata to one of the New Oce servers. I have a character that I rolled on Kujata specifically to play with him even though I am a NA player. That one character will be moved to whichever server he lands on. We have gamed together for nearly 8 years in 2 games now. That will not change now.

My guess won't be worth it. For long time you're going to have long queues times for duty finder and who knows how long there be for raiding.

Why? I expect the servers to be full within a week, if not sooner. And yes I am moving.
