I look longingly at the days when my retainers would bring in 1-2 million in gil per day from gathering, even with bots running rampant on the system.
I should have spent most of that time omnicrafting my own gear rather than buying it off of the Market Board, although it was mostly cheaper than buying from a vendor.
Making a series of choices that led me to abandon all the rewards that I got with my first ever character in this game. Now, I play a new character that doesn't have certain things, and sometimes I missed having them, but I don't have the desire to reacquire them.
That said, I'm still fine with (and prefer) having limited account-wide rewards. I do like that each character is different in that way.
Biggest one I got is deleting my 1.0 character. 1.0 players here will feel my pain because that meant the deletion of my legacy tattoo as it was bound to the character and not the account.
I regret not trying out tanking earlier. The tankxiety was keeping me from trying out those jobs.
Eventually, when I went to level those jobs for the Amaro, I realized that I had nothing to fear.
I was shocked at how much easier and how less stressful tanking was than healing or dps.
Nearly every dungeon is just a long hallway, so there's no possibility of me getting lost. All I had to do was pull everything to the wall, cycle my cooldowns, and the runs were quick.
When early access for endwalker arrived, I even decided to level as tank due to the influx of sages and reapers who would be inflating healer/dps queue times.
Eventually, I got the confidence to tank both extremes and to prog savage as tank.
It also helps that the "barbarian" theme is ubiquitous enough that it is socially acceptable for my roe to run around shirtless, wearing nothing but a loincloth.
You also missed getting a unique intro cinematic when starting back up with that character, and unique cinematic throughout the game. Such as the Scions eventually getting their memory back of you being their friend in 1.0, Minfilia immediately recognizes you though.
I now wish I hadn't demolished my medium house when I didn't need it. There had always been quiet patches in expansions where a few plots just sat open. I didn't predict the population doubling last summer and them making a lottery system that's going to make getting a bigger house more difficult.
I refused to reinstall the dumpsterfire that was 1.0 to get my goob bongo.
1.0 player here, but I never subbed during 1.0 (really couldn't justify it), meaning I did not get my legacy Chocobo. I also did not do the quest for the 1.0 Goobbue mount, even though I was playing at the time.
I've got my tattoo and a selection of 1.0 things, however missing those 2 mounts eats at my soul.
I wish I had gotten more 1.0 titles.
Selling my Mansion, relocated from med to small. And selling my fc with a mansion:) it itself aint bad but i hoped that people who bought my fc with mansion would be active..
I regret not doing more monk in ARR than neccesary to hit level 8 for my drg side job
Or taking a tank beyond level 30
Not giving sch another look back in sb. I was still an astro main
not doing third tier of omega savage. still not got the glams i want even today
I never made the most of Hamlet in 1.0and miss some titles...other than that I have been quite happy for 11 years.
Oh I wish I had taken the name of the person who said they never would forget me as I gave them some arrows (back when ammo was made) she owes me some!! lol
i regret rolling a miqo'te in 1.0 i fixed this mistake in 2.0 by using the free fantasia to transform into a midlander
Getting heavily invested into the story and lore.
MMmm losing my house maybe?
If not that it's probably not paying enough attention to the story back in ARR and even a bit in HW allthough i paid more attention in HW.
I kinda don't like reading too much and reading text in cutscenes was kinda boring for me so i just skimmed through quickly not really taking everything in as i should have. I wasn't as invested and slowly started to get invested in HW.
Now despite still not being a fan of reading and there being more voiced cutscenes now anyway, i read anyway just because i wanna know everything & not miss anything.
I don't know if it counts but I think back when Stormblood had released, I tried installing FFXIV through Steam. Back then it had this... demo? I don't exactly remember for sure. But I came quite close to playing FFXIV ages ago and just gave up before the installation finished for some reason. I regret not troubleshooting the fact that it stayed at 99% and wouldn't complete. Who knows where I'd have been now?
Casting leeches or warriors during their 5 second pacify in 2.x I was too nice ;-)
Unlocking and trying out every job in this game. My inventory suffers badly because of all the gear I need to play certain jobs and of course glamour items. I can’t even craft if I wanted due to the clutter. By Shadowbringers, I couldn’t even try Gunbreaker or Dancer due to not having room to add their gear to my clutter. I managed to delete some gear which hated doing to try Reaper this expansion. On my Alts, I’m not doing that same mistake again. I’m just unlocking the jobs I like to keep the clutter down.
Skipping seasonal events.
The 1.0 Goobbue is the one that gets me. >< I did manage to get the legacy chocobo/pricing, but I didn't bother with the goobbue and curse myself every time I see it in game now.
A far more petty thing - I didn't re-register right away when the new forums came out, and so I will forever show a forum join date of 2012...despite being around when the older version was still a thing. lol.
Ours was not returning earlier but our PC was broken so we literally could not play more 1.0 and by the time we had the pc the game was basically down and we were busy with other stuff... also i regret we didnt find our 1.0 char earlier. Its a shame on that chocobo, you barely see em these days...
Mostly its just "not starting/returning earlier"... *sigh*
Oh and gettin too involved with others... never a good thing and i really shoudve learned by now...
I regret not being able to Play More.
So I could have gotten caught up Faster, and my Road to lv 90 All Jobs run would be 1/4th done. Or Maybe 50% done.. cause exp gains are pretty stellar when you mix them with Challenge log and Weekly WT.
4 levels in 1 day baby
I originally joined in 2015 but immediately left due to getting confused by the gameplay. However I returned in 2018 and started to enjoy the game properly. :)
Also, I wish I played 1.0 when it was released. My cousin insisted I shouldn’t play it because it was “bad”. Even if it was, I think it would’ve been an interesting experience but alas. Better late than never anyway.
I wish i could've continued playing 1.0 instead of quitting after 30 days.
But the high system requirements + the fact that you could only pay your subcription via credit card, made it impossible for me.
starting as a female miqo'te, that's about it.
Buying a medium house in the Goblet instead of keeping the small bridge one in the Lavender Beds.
Life is learning :c
Oh boy, here we go:
1. Not starting sooner (came in Dec 2014, 2.4ish, I think).
2. Not putting more effort into crafting past getting all DoL/DoH to max level.
3. Not maintaining my sub and popping in every once in a while when taking breaks. Those seasonal events rewards!
4. Not buying more Eastern Cherry Trees when they were available in-game.
5. Not maintaining my original house even while on breaks.
6. Not taking the game less seriously to avoid burnout/frustration-induced breaks.
Not trying out Scholar during Stormblood.
I started playing in SB, and was absolutely content to main AST at the time. So I didn't even consider of trying SCH until at the end of expansion.
"I'll try SCH next expansion then."
Comes ShB and I got stuck with the dumbed down version of the job (and all healers basically).
Not buying a ton of those tradable bardings from early events which now sell for tens of millions.
I used my one-time item exchange from GM services on a very useless item looking back (Switched a BLM cane for a WHM one I think...)
Really wish I still had this under my sleeve, just in case...
Not playing it more during 1.0 after my annoyance that a majority of the issues I reported in the betas were still present at launch.
