How many retainers do you have?

I was riding smoothly just using two, until I came back from an hours-long Diadem trip to find that the 40 market board slots just wasn't doing it, splitting up my stacks of items as I usually do. So I caved and paid the extra 2 bucks for another retainer.

And it got me thinking; You can have up to 10 of these for a combined total of 200 market board slots... Do people even need that many? Another sub on top of your existing sub just to be able to machine-gun shards onto the MB?

So here I am, wondering, asking. How many retainers do you have?

Bonus points if you share their names. Mine are Spaceflow, Spaceway (apparently a premonition for the Lopporits since this one was named mid-ShB) and the newly added Spacedrift.

I think I have just two.

Only 2, square is already milking me for enough money, so I refuse to pay for additional ones.

Nine. Sadly they are all packed.

Still 2. I sold most of my out of date mats. Clearing glamour that can be bought as well.

Here's a story for you - I know someone who had to hire additional retainers because... the max amount of gil you can hold is 999,999,999.

Your retainers can also only hold up to 999,999,999 gil.

They basically had to get another retainer so they could keep making more money.

I have 4 retainers. It's not too often I don't have most of the 80 MB slots selling any extra goodies. It's nice to have extra's if you desynth gear from dailies or general trust runs, or if you are a heavy crafter and/or gatherer it's helpful.

Nine, in total.

Only two now. A few years ago I had six - but they were just filled with junk really. Made myself have a mssive cleanout and now I make myself be strict with what I keep, haha.

It started back when they first introduced the additional retainers service, because I was hoarding all kinds of crafting materials, both HQ and NQ. I had two combat retainers and three gathering retainers.

Then I think it was in 4.x when I decided to get rid of all the crafting materials, and I started hoarding leveling gear. One retainer for each main stat (VIT/MND/STR/DEX/INT).

Now in 6.0 I'm thinking of dumping those leveling gear as most of my jobs are over 70, with only two or three under 70, meaning I could use Trusts for leveling and get all the gear I need anyways, and I've taken a renewed interest in crafting so I need all the storage space I could get.

Thought about just getting more retainers but I already feel the hassle with 5 retainers.

9, I craft heavily

I only have 2. I don't craft much and live by the philosophy "If I don't have a need it right now then it goes up for sale." I just gather or buy stuff when I actually want to craft something, although I do know people who prefer to hold onto materials just in case.

With the amount of stuff they add every expansion, though, it would be nice if we got a free third retainer.

2. One is Archer class job and other is botanist .

2, but I forget they exist sometimes and sell/hoard gear and items for "later" use.

The free ones, I am not paying for extra storage in a videogame.

Lots of good glams in them. Wouldn’t want to throw them away.

1 for mats
1 for gear I am trying to sell
1 for glamours
1 for currencies, tokens, race chocobos, materia and other important stuff

Only 2. Having to pay a sub is a lot enough as it is for me, paying more just to have more space is a nope for me. I'd rather throw away stuff I don't strictly need.

Two, and I think they have 20-30 items total between them.

Seriously SE bring on the dye box, tacklebox, materia box and token consolidation already, especially the latter.

The removal of HQ gatherer stuff did nothing for me since I only had HQ mats anyway. Ingredients I can buy at a vendor are never stored, same with dyes.

Have no intention of paying for more, and at this point a 3rd retainer should be free.

Used to have a total of 8, dropped down to 4, and sometimes feel I might be able to use another...but then I just NPC stuff that is on the market for less than 500gil. While I may be losing out on in-game money in the long run, I'm not spending more real money to hold more stuff.

4. 2 are mostly full of glamour, one for crafting mats and other misc crap like totems and such, and one for housing stuff

4 retainers. 2 free, 2 paid. 2 botanists, 1 miner, and 1 samurai. One retainer has all of my dyes, materia, old raid currencies, etc, and another has a lot of diadem crafting materials. I was stashing a ton of housing items on my other retainers until I finished redecorating my apartment and vendored the stuff I wasn't using.

The full 9. Since I do a lot of crafting it's helpful having all those hands out gathering crystals or specific materials as needed.

Edelmont - Miner: Storage of gear obtained through ventures to be used when leveling alt jobs
Colisldumont - Botanist: Glamour and leveling gear overflow
Bartholemeau - Miner: GC Expert Delivery


All of them sell their respective materials or crafted goods as needed. Keeping each retainer selling only the stuff related to what they're designated to hold helps me keep track of what actually sells.
Yes, they're all Elezen. Four couples and my waifu.

I have three, two free, one paid for.

One for materia, outdoor furniture, home exterior items, indoor items like walls, floors, and ceiling lights, and some season furnishings.
One for my job and role specific glamour items.
And the last for general glamour and dyes.

I have two per character.

They're loyal and able.

I have 14, 7 Atls (all level 80) 2 per. Not that I would use them for anything myself, but the wife is an Omni crafter so all my alts put her stuff up on the MB. It only takes up 12 of the 14 though she kindly left me two.

I have four. Silvermist (elezen) tends to my gear, Seaholly (hyur) keeps crafting supplies, LazarusLongtail (miqote) keeps more crafting supplies, and Moonsugar (lalafell) holds odds and ends I want to save and she's also my quick inventory dump for items that have yet to be sorted.

10 Retainers and 2 Alts. Full of so much stuff

had 9 in ShB, down to 4 in EW.
