Simplest Rotation

I have a friend who wants to come back to FFXIV after a very long break (she made it to level 24 or so on a gladiator back in ARR...so basically brand new) and she wants to play a damage role and is looking for the easiest rotation. She says she struggles with watching fight mechanics and managing a complicated job and just wants something simple. I recommended Summoner as IMO the new reworked SMN is about as simple as it gets, but she said she doesn't want to play a caster.

Unfortunately I don't have a ton of experience on anything besides RDM, SMN, SCH and SGE so am looking for advice. Maybe BRD?

Yes, I would also reccomend SMN for sure. It's prob the most simple and basic rotation atm. And they'd get a rez which is always a plus to have.

If she doesn't want to play a caster then SMN is indeed off the table (even though it uses instant casts 90% of the time as opposed to hard casts).

MCH is a good pick for an easy physical ranged dps and in the melee segment monk is probably the easiest to get into (not as many buttons as the other melee) and easiest to get used to (altho there is a lot of room for optimization with timing your big skills in a group setting but thats not relevant for this topic).

Some would say Reaper perhaps, but the job get's lots of stuff to track at level 90 so personally I wouldn't give it the easy-job stamp.

Machinist is pretty easy to play. It's just your typical 1-2-3 rotation while hitting stronger abilities on cooldown. Bard and dancer has to watch for RNG procs and melee classes are a bit more complicated and have positionals. The only thing is you'll have to help her get to Heavensward as it's unlocked in Ishgard.

DNC. Aside from maintaining buffs, your rotation is basically two buttons plus whatever lights up.

DNC or MCH

MCH has a simple rotation that, essentially, never changes for anything. Once you have it down you can pure muscle memory it. DNC you have to watch for procs but it's still pretty simple?

Does she not want to play a caster because of casting or just doesn't like magic? If it's the former then SMN is still a good choice since they have a grand total of 3 casts per minute.

There's more if you're level synced which, depending on how someone plays the game, they may spend far more time level synced than not.

BRD could be quite busy, with all the proc and keeping eye on DoT

DNC have proc and two finish to keep an eye on but generally not as fast pace

MCH have solid rotation 1-2-3, no DoT/proc but you have to beware of clipping if you have poor internet

NIN and DRG are very busy, I have not yet level my NIN to 90 so I am not so sure the change in EW, but I believe the general high apm remain

RPR could be quite fast pace with positional but rotation is simple, will no doubt get a nerf soon

MNK rotation is smooth, some variance but isn’t hard either

SAM solid rotation but not as simple as 1-2-3 and it punish you relatively hard when you mess up

She just doesn't like casters aesthetically/job fantasy wise. I showed her this thread and she is going to go BRD until she unlocks DNC so the gear will switch over, thank you everyone!

SMN. It can execute a flawless rotation with a one button macro that only loses 1 GCD per minute. I believe it is going to be getting like five new buttons over the course of the expansion because it is so absurdly bare bones, but right now, it's literally a one button job.

Dnc since you be buffing partirs by steps n close partner (ssm/drg/mnk/rpr) xD very fun class

smn, rdm and drg are probably the simplest rotation for now.

BLM is also actually simple but the playstyle is probably not for her

Right now hands down SMN.

Melee: RPR
It's opener is easy and it follows a priority system that is EXTREMELY easy to follow, plus is generally slow on the button presses outside of shroud.

Caster: SMN
No brainer...

Ranged: MCH
The rotation is VERY easy 1-2-3 - BIG HIT - 1-2-3 - BIG HIT - HYPERDOUCHE - 1-2-3

Do not go near the following though:
MNK:
Easy until you want to actually play it optimally

BLM:
Aint played it but heard you really need to know the fight to do well.

That is my take anyway.

RDM would fit very well
