SMN Physick

Unsure why they want to keep this in SMN's toolkit since it is a very week heal and using it causes dps loss since your primals don't summon themselves. It feels broken and useless.

How about add a proc and make it ogcd on proc by summoning primals/ consuming arcanums, if not also give a little more potency or just change the mechanic to restore x% of health since the healing potency depends on MIND stat which SMN don't stack?

I think they should just fix the spell and make it an actual heal that works.

The two main reasons for why it doesn't work and why they won't remove it are that it scales with mind instead of intellect so that Scholars can use it. And if they got rid of it apparently it would leave low level Scholars with no heal.

Here's my solution.

Either give us a trait at L32 that completely switches Physick to Physick II which will be a completely new spell which can then scale off of intellect.

Or

Give us a trait at L32 that increases Physick's potency to 8,000.

Currently Scholar's Physick heals for 20x the amount that Summoners does. So instead of having the spell scale with intellect, just increase the potency of Summoners Physick by 20x to match a base Scholar heal.

We know they can do both of these. Ruin gets replaced by Broil which scales off of mind, so we know they can completely replace spells and their scaling mechanics.

They also have traits that simply increase the potency of spells, so we know they can do that too.

Doing either one will fix Physick and put Summoners on par with Red Mage and Paladin.

SMN's version of Physick is seperate from SCH's and doesn't effect it anymore. The only spell the jobs share is Resurrection, everything else is its own version. Which makes you wonder why the skill still exist on SMN, if it hasn't been updated.

It’s possible they don’t want to do it for that exact reason. Red Mage can raise and heal, Summoner just raises, and Black Mage can’t do either. The trade off is that less utility means more damage, supposedly, but we all know that’s not always the case.

Personally, I’d like to see Physick replaced with A Call spell. Calls could be GCD summons that have utility effects. Call Lakshmi (just an example, thinking of the FFVI Esper) to appear and cast a regen on the whole party. Stuff like that.

Plenty of hotkey space for abilities like this.

A trait that changes it to scale off intellect is a great idea.

Because entering Dreadwyrm Trance/Summoning Bahamut/Phoenix makes Physick's cast time instant by reducing all SMN spells' cast times by 2.5 seconds even Sleep and Resurrection. Having an instant cast heal on a DPS that heals more than 1% of your maxium health? Too OP /s

How about instead have a trait that changes it to Drain that deals damage while healing the summoner for percentage of the damage dealt? I'm thinking something like 150 potency damage with like 40% life steal or something.

Have a trait upgrade it to Summon: Unicorn/Fairy/Literally anything - 2m cooldown, Group heal of the strength of Medica2.
Summon comes out, flexes a heal and leaves. 2ez. SE job please.

also we do need some potency buffs bad. I mean RDM is basically a minor WM + BLM in one and does so much, yet summoner is near bard in some cases. Now I've seen in other groups summoner pull ahead but that's the majority of rankings. So everyone just plays RPR and RDM atm. If not your a tank.

Having/using a 400 potency instant heal on a DPS wouldn't be the worst thing, considering a spell like that already exists on a tank. The issue comes with having to use it, cause if you need to use it within an instant cast window, when you should be burst DPSing, there are bigger issues a foot.

If you look up damage logs people have posted since the expansion launched, this is definitely not the case currently with red mage out damaging summoner. Sure summoner is more mobile now, but it got hit HARD with the mobility tax despite still having at least a few spells that must be cast standing still.

But to the original point, Eloah got it right stating that the skill is no longer one it shares with scholar, so given it does not scale on intelligence seems to be an intentional choice on the part of the developers. And to be honest, summoner doesn't really need it. Once you can summon Phoenix, you've got more healing than you'll need in most scenarios.

I mean...if they made a trait to convert scaling to intellect, I'm sure they could easily add on to that trait that the instant cast time would not apply to Physick.

I agree they need a potency buff overall, but with everything they do being practically instant cast now I pretty much see SE keeping them in the brd/mch territory.

They made Ruin II separate effects for SCH and SMN (now no longer insta-cast for SMN), so I don't see why they can't fix Physick. Same for Energy Drain, and probably others yet they mark Resurrection as the only arcanist ability left in SCH's list for some reason. There's at least a few others than that, but they scooted them over into job actions. Why? But Physick can be changed to scale with INT with a level 30 SMN trait, easy. But really, do SMNs even need the flavor or function of healing? Pets don't have HP anymore. What about summoning necessitates healing at this point? They should just get rid of the button at this point, they considered removing Resurrection but not Physick? Pretty sure most summoners would appreciate the honesty of admitting the lie of Physick.

I like the idea of adding an attribute/trait that turns physick into either an INT-scaling heal or a timed-window CD where you heal in propotion to the damage dealt during that period of time. It could even have a name/animation themed after the King Moogle Mog (similar to Pom Cure). If RDM has "Vercure" as their own version of the spell, then SMN could have the same.

It's probably just there to fill up the lack of abilities. Summoner has like 6 buttons lol
