Gil.

Is it pronounced like "Jill"... Jack and Gil go up the hill to fetch a pail of water.

Or

Is it pronounced "Gill"... Fish have Gils.

Second imo ^^ I never heard anyone pronouncing it as 'Jill'.

I have always pronounced it like the second one, then again I mispronounce Ifrit all the time

You'd be surprised how many people have tried correcting me saying It's pronounced "Jill." SO MUCH so that I thought me pronouncing it as "Gill" was wrong.

Gil as in Gilded

On a side note I had been playing a ton of FFXI and when I was in Japan accidentally called Yen "Gil." Luckily it was only to my friend otherwise it would have been the most embarrassing thing ever.

In Japanese it's ギル. So, like "gill". "Jill" would be ジル or something.

Gil but never gills.

yep, definately Gil as in gill of a fish

FUN FACT: a GIL is an actual unit of measure in the Imperial System of weights and measures, 1 Gil = 1/8 of a cup or 1 fl oz! used predominately by the Royal Navy, 1 Gil was the official measurement used for a sailor's Rum ration!

It's "gihl". No J involved.
