The Battle with Garuda has one of the best battlefield designs since Empyreal Paradox

Fighting a boss while surrounded by swirling storm clouds? Oh god yes! This only makes me imagine what Ramuh's battlefield would look like. Thunderstorms all over? lightning strikes constantly in the background? Make it happen!

But seriously, it's so simple and yet so effective. Sorry FFXIV developers, but I hope you understand that this means that all the battlefields need to look just as good as this, right? You've spoiled us!

Not to state the obvious, but you did notice the huge flaming inferno around Ifrit's arena didn't you?

I expect this trend to continue for the primals, but I wonder how they'll handle Leviathan...

If you haven't done this already, go into the howling eye, go into first person view, and look straight up.

A piece of land or ship swirling in a whirlpool? I suppose vortex or maelstrom would be a more apt word.

I wasn't a fan of Ifrit's arena. Mainly becauser that ring of fire was too... small. It felt less like a wall of fire and more like a ring to designate where you can go.

yoshi-p said in a interview if he could make it happen it would be a underwater fight but he said they have to add swimming first which would delay the release of the fight too a pack where they add swimming and underwater dungeon and such,.

Would make more sense than him floating in air.

Leviathan could happen on a small island his attacks can reach from the water.

ya and there hole that he can pop out from and attack :) but underwater sound more fun too me. or you could be in a small island and half HP he does his two hour which would be flood and you have to fight him in water.

You could be magically granted the ability to walk on water and fight him in the middle of the ocean or something...

Underwater would be cooler though I think. Oxyale!

Actually, I like the walking-on-water thing even more. Imagine fighting him right in the middle of the ocean. Endless sea on all sides.

Well we are getting swimming in Final Fantasy XIV 2.0. I would love to see an underwater battle with Leviathan Final Fantasy X style.

Encase the players in magic bubbles to fight leviathan underwater in.

Leviathan should be a naval battle! Or an island!

I want to see what they do for the lightning primal...

I want to attack him with a fleet of ships. Achievement points if the fight doesn't quickly get pulled underwater...

Heh, the funny thing about this is that if they do make it an underwater fight with swimming and that third dimension of movement, XIV would succeed where WoW failed, as that was one piece of content they were gonna add but too many people disliked the underwater zones we had that were leading to an underwater raid instance.

I get the feeling that the people in this thread don't understand the complexity and difficulty there would be in adding an entire swimming system and for it to work well with the combat system. Also the fact that these fights are intended to have some similiarity (circular area etc.) It would most likely just be shallow but angry water with a slightly coiled Leviathan moving about. It would be interesting to see a fight where he appears around the outside of the ring from deeper waters, and a hole in the center of the arena for him to pop out of.

We are, of course, alluding to the fact that while in an interview, Yoshida was asked about the possibilities of underwater content. He agreed that this was something he would like to do if at all possible, but is naturally not a current priority.

Some of us are just fantasising from there. Dare to dream!
