Player abusing third party software to initiate harassment and to bully me

https://i.postimg.cc/xd7qM9Lb/report.pngThis is my experience last night , i must admit that i was truly hurt by what happened and as someone who joined game just 1 year ago, i have never ever met such rude and toxic person who would abuse third party tool to flame and harrass players like that, I am not a perfect player but i will try and be a better player however using numbers outside the game from a 3rd party tool just to flame and discourage other players is abosolutely unacceptble and it totally ruins the healthy gaming environment .Not to mention, reaper is a brandnew job which i take great pleasure leveling and experiencing. I do not understand the concept of which this person had against other players just becasue he uses ACT to parse or show his superiority .Including in the chatlog, he dared to ask me and other melee to play another game, how is this an inclusive gameplay we ff14 community can allow? Frankly i was totally bummed and discouraged by him and had to log off due to that reason alone. As hurtful as it may sound, i just didnt want to play the ex trial with reaper anymore becasue of that, But i will continue my journey and keep learning reaper, i will not be discouraged by such person not worth my time and energy.:o

Edit out the name of the player, as that can get you in trouble for name shaming.

My advice to you is to open the Support Desk under System menu in game and file a report there with the info you were trying to make public here.

It is agaisnt the ToS to use said 3rd party tools. However some people do genuinely only use them to self improve. But harrassment is a one way ticket to Mordion Gaol (GM jail).

If I may suggest, and I'm guessing you're working your way through the extreme trials, look for the quest in Radz-at-han that unlocks the raids dummy. You will be able to test your job against a dummy for each extreme and savage raid. If you beat it, you can be sure you are doing your part to get that clear.

While ffxiv community in general are very helpful and understanding, are there a few rotten apples :p So yes. just forget this episode and continue playing ffxiv and have fun!!

Report them to a GM. That's all that needs to be said.

They used it to harass you and that's wrong.

Just to snip and reply to this line: It isn't. That's why you report it. Just because one player was rude, doesn't indicate the bigger picture. Try not to let one person get ya down :D

This is absolutely reportable. They look the other way on DPS meters unless they're used to harass people, and this is definitely harassment. This guy will likely catch at least an official warning if you report him, worse if its not his first offense.

Enjoy watching people given enough rope to hang themselves with.

This is a very clear cut case to report to GMs. And please do - if no one reports people like that, they'll continue on and harass others.

Really only time you can be consequenced for bad DPS is refusing to AoE when asked then you get booted for griefing the dungeon.

Or lashing out at a veteran of your class for recommending but not compelling better play.

I can tell you from nearly 20 years of playing online games (mostly MMOs) that you're never going to completely escape these people. So it's not about whether or not any of us or the folks behind XIV allow them to be this way, it's that you can't stop them from initially being this way. Most of us don't tolerate people like that and, unlike most games, you can actually report this type of behavior here.

These types of people are often incredibly stupid when it comes to behavior and especially covering their tracks. Typically in a hilarious yet depressingly pathetic way. And yeah, I have no qualms about insulting a potential child here, given the childish antics, but it's more than likely someone old enough to know better. They'll usually provide you all the evidence you need to report them and, given the violation on 3rd party tools, will usually flaunt their knowledge about something they're not supposed to actually know. A GM can use this as further reason to pursue action, though it's likely not needed. It's more akin to additional ammunition or motivation to take action, given the subjectivity of issuing punishment. They don't even need to actually have been using 3rd party tools in this situation, just the implied claim is enough to shoot themselves in the foot.

Can confirm. The player in savage gear shouting 'git gud' and throwing a tantrum when healer has to potty break has failed mechanics and died in dungeons.

Don't let their behavior fool you. If they actually had achievements you'd have seen mention of them. People celebrate mediocrity and chastize the hobbyist to feel a snowflake. Its all the thing now.

Most high achievers in real life and in games don't spend time crapping on others. They're too busy trying to better themselves.

this was EX trial 1, i went in as a reaper for the first time ,also it was 1st pull clear so i didnt know why this man went full on rage mode on melees, the guy was clearly parsing because he uploads his log every single pull if its good, but again this is the first trial in EW and ppl are trying to get more practice with the new jobs, therefore bullying or crapping on others in a trial seems to be outrageous .

hrmmm. knowing some one else damage and belittling them on it... sounds like a a parse user and should be reported. Yoshi already stated that Harassment and use of 3rd party is not to be tolerated.

I am seeing this a lot coming from the recent WoW implants that boost or buy accounts to do only raid content. But that is just from my POV as I see the bad behavior increasing lately. I had one person tell me to go KYS in a 4 man because they "raided in WoW and to never be questioned" which made me laugh and my only response was "This isn't Azeroth, this is Eorzea we play by a different set of rules." and the guy lost his shyte over that one statement. Then suddenly poof he disappeared, I think a GM grabbed him, as his wording was very colorful prior to him losing it, to say the least.

After all these years people still haven't learned...It's sad to see stuff like this happening and also a lesson from this... don't be a Richard!!! Be civil to each other and it's only a game that people enjoy...

Extremes are the middle ground between Savage and Normal content, so they aren't the worst place to take that next step once you know the rotation but don't have too much experience doing it in more stressful situations.


As for OP, you really should just report that person. Even if they try to claim that they aren't using a parser somehow, like if they claim to have just made up the number, they will still be charged with harassment. In fact, they will be charged with harassment first and foremost, with third party tools as a secondary charge on top of it. So no matter what, they WILL be punished. Make sure you note the time, day, and the instance you were in so the GMs can pull up the necessary chat logs.

Ah, so it's a great place to refine one's chosen job, or as that "next step" once a player knows their rotation? I see. I just hope players aren't going in there before that point!

The only time someone should be bringing up damage is when the boss just isn't dying or the trash just isn't dying and it's causing wipes.

Even then, you don't use parser numbers to trash on folks, you just tell them to use aoes or something. There's no reason to use a parser to trash on someone in a group. There just isn't.

ACT in itself is not the issue. Plenty of people use it as a tool for self-progress or for use in statics to gauge who needs to improve. The issue is when people advertise and use it publicly as that is a violation of the ToS. As I said before in another thread, keep your use of it to yourself in public settings...the same as you would any other mod or plugin. People will report you otherwise, especially with the new wave of people needing to brag that they're using ACT in Extremes now.

I hate fflogs, I think parsing is great. Not necessary though for the average player since you can just read a guide and try your opener on the practice dummy grounds for content. Fflogs is great for people looking for a competitive aspect to pve but it def attracted absolute cringe types too.

Wow tier toxic garbage deserves a ban though but OP should def read a guide at least if they never have.

It’s clearly the WoW players having arrived but, as long as it’s not extreme harassment like the OP had to deal with I don’t think it’s actually bad when this game loosens up a little and gets more of a chill WoW environment.

Because at times this game and community really feels stiff to an almost awkward point.

Also like I don’t think that you really shouldn’t be allowed to talk about others peoples performance, as it doesn’t prevent toxic behavior but more or less just hides it. So when you say just disband the group after the 50th 5% wipe on a boss instead of pointing out the one guy that would be the same like I close down my company and make everyone unemployed because there was one guy in the chain that didn’t do a good job.

Don’t practice in an EX. Using ACT is not the end of the world and I’m glad there’s Excel blacklists out there for (some) of the commenters here to get on.
