Permanent Sprint Toggle in Cities

I can see how this could be abused in zones where mobs exist, but it would be nice to have the option to just toggle sprint on/off in major cities (e.g. Ul'dah, Ishgard, Kugane, etc.) in a similar fashion to how we can toggle walk on/off.

At this point, we can get pretty close to mimicking this effect for a very extended period of time if you want to switch jobs on your hotbar and use job skills. To name a few:

SCH - Expedient
RPR - Ingress
NIN - Shukuchi
DRG - Elusive Jump
DNC - En Avant

I'm wondering why we don't just have the option to toggle sprint on/off permanently in major city zones.

And I'm curious if anyone sees any valid reasons we shouldn't have the ability in these types of areas?

Or just Peloton if you play Bard/Archer/Machinist. They can sprint 24/7 (speed buff doesn't stack).

For sure, that's definitely a good option and comes pretty close.

If I remember correctly, someone posted a speed test video a few years back and peloton isn't as quite as fast as sprint, and the player would still have to click and constantly refresh. My thought was just that it'd be nice if we could toggle it permanently on/off.

Would also be a nice feature regardless of class for the new sprouts who enter the game as anything other than archer.

I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea if folks really want it, but it isn’t something I would personally want, per se.

Admittedly there are times where I honestly enjoy just running around at a casual pace and enjoy the sites… all of the big cities are gorgeous, and it’s nice taking them in. And I know, it’s still possible to kinda do that while sprinting, but admittedly it wouldn’t be the same.

Plus also admittedly, it’s been instigation for me to level a job that has Peloton just so that if/when I AM in a hurry, I can move a bit quicker. I also like that there’s a good reason in the game that inspires desire to expand upon my jobs to get more useful everyday tools like that (I kinda wish there were more jobs like that, lol).

Like one of the reasons why I leveled up a tank and healer job was so that I could swap on the fly when out in the world and assist folks.

Not sure if that all makes sense, hope so, lol

We already have the aethernet, Peloton, and double-duration Sprint outside of combat. Do we really need every person we see in a city to be running like their lives depend upon it?

Kind of silly when i'm on an errand of life or death and see my hyur going for brisk jog to get somewhere

Tbh, I’d be happy if Peloton functioned like old Swiftsong where it only fell off if you changed areas or engaged in combat.

Yes. We are the warriors of light. The very existence of the star itself depends on us from getting from Point A to Point B as quickly as possible !

Time to bust out those Hermes' Shoes.

Actually, the shoes kinda suck as you have to remember to 1) have them in your inventory and 2) equip them.

Bring on the perma-sprint toggle for towns!

Call me crazy, but I usually slow-walk in town unless something's really far away from an aetheryte.
