... and why is it Roegadyn?

Seriously though, which race is the best, and why?

Neither race. It all depends on your own personal aesthetics.

Also, hyurs. Because we're the main face of the game, after all.

Au ra !!!

Personally I have a slight bias for Viera. But if I could say what races I think is better.... well I have no preference.

- Female Roegadyn are cool, though not a lot of players play them, I myself have been getting the urge to play as one again. Male Roegadyn.... don't like as much as the females unfortunately. I don't know why, but their male counterparts don't appeal to me whatsoever aside from body type, it's most likely the face options... probably.
-Miqo'te are the go to race since they look good in a lot of glamour options, and the vast majority of the player base plays them for this reason.
-Au Ra females fit into the looks good in almost everything except for certain helmets, same as male Au Ra.. sort of. Auri males have to deal with their guitar body shape and their running cycle which is... odd.
-Lalafells are okay, they pretty much look good in cute glamours both male and female.
-Hrothgars are cool, though I have no intentions of playing one until their hair situation gets fixed and the addition of their female counterparts.
-Hyurs both male and female are default but I prefer the highlander variations of them than the midlander.
- And then there's Elezen... love them when they stand still, not so much when they move. Their run cycle hurts me.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to how many glamours does your character look good in, since glamour is the true end game!

Bangaa. Every time I see an Au Ra I'm a little sadden at what could have been... Except Magnai one day he'll find his girl.

Thighlander. The females in particular look badass. Especially in RPR, DRG, and DRK gear.

Elezen, because we are rare and beautiful :)

I don't believe there is a best, because everyone has their favorites. I'm Team Hrothgar all the way, myself, and have been since they were announced. But I understand the very valid reasons others do not share that view. Heh. And as much as I have a natural desire to share a viewpoint, there is also something kinda cool about playing a race that is rarer in the community.

For guys, Highlander and Hrothgar. :o
For girls, Au ra and Lala's! :eek:

None of them are.

There's just favs for everyone. Like my current fav is a cross between decent looking viera's - female- and midlanders - also females-

Anything other than lalafel.

I'm currently preferential towards my male viera, but I know it needs a lot of work to be done still... Waiting on you SE!

A toss up between Au Ra and Elezen. Au Ra for their scales, horns and eyes. Elezen for height and how armor sit on them, plus dark elves are always great.

The best race is Roe, of course.
Everyone knows this, but some people are just too afraid to accept the truth.

I may have a mild bias on the matter, but I would say Miqo'te.

Lalafell is the best race. I play an Elezen and a Miqo'te, and I love them both and would never change, but every time I see a little Lala it makes me smile. Those popotoes are just so adorable!

What is the best race is not something you can pin, it's always down to personal preference so the best race in your eyes won't be the same in my eyes for example

Viera are my personal favourites, if they could wear hats they'd be easy 10/10.

On the topic of Roe, the female ones are cool, tend to see a rather diverse range of glams and looks.

The male ones though, ironically enough, seem to attract some of the cattiest players in the game. Super defensive about their choice and rather prone to making snide remarks about other players appearances for some reason.

Highlanders = females and males alike.

I don't like cute and small females at all. I tried to make an alt with a miqo'te once - I just couldn't take the character seriously.

Au Ra overall, since male viera don't look very good, and they don't have limitations. Best looking are Au Ra, and female viera. It's too bad both races have their racial features cut off with reaper.

I didn’t pick Viera to be a hot bunny girl, but because they have the most interesting hairstyles, animation cycles, and facial features. I started with Elezen but the 3d model feels less detailed than other races, and they are too tall for my liking. I switched briefly to high lander after but everything about them is so aggressive, it felt weird to put on a dressy glamour or to play a non melee class with that race.

Girls = Au Ra
Males = Male Viera

As much as I enjoy playing a tiny guy, it is hard to find aesthetics that complement a male lala.

I would say the best race imo for aesthetics is female hyur. Almost every glam looks amazing on them.

Miqo'te probably. I play fem lizard since it fits my personality better

Either male Midlander Hyur, due to legendary stubble or female Miqo'te because catgirls.

The Answer for everyone who doesnt dig the "Edgy Emo Teen" look and doesnt want to look like a walking boulder or Potato either is Elezen.

Why?
Its the only Race with a halfway decent beard option!

Viera.

They are, after all, the wood elves of FFXIV. Moreso than Wildwood Elezen.
