There's literally no reason to be afk dancing. Especially with ques this long.
People have been doing this for months. I always wondered why you would waste your time dancing in front of the Ul'Dah aytherite. It is generally the same people. I don't think they need banned, kicked off the server maybe, but not banned.
It's not their fault.
Why treat them like it is?
Yes, people stay logged in for as long as they can to avoid an extremely long que. It's not their fault that the queues are so long and it's hard to blame them for not wanting to wait. You don't really believe they are doing it to be mean, do you?
A ban? Not likely.
This guy has been afk dancing for the past 3 months that I know of. Obviously he has another account that he's playing. So yeah, he's not playing, he's taking up a spot by dancing on the steps afk, which he's bypassing their afk kick feature. It would be different if you were right, and they were just avoiding getting kicked, but he's been on the steps the past couple of hours now and has been for months.
Unfortunately, I would have to disagree with you on this as they are using in-game mechanics to bypass the system and as the original poster said they know they are doing it, and it is 100% their fault when they are using something to get around having to log back in. Implement the first offense bump them off the server and send them an email with a warning, the second offense I agree with a ban as you know for sure and have been warned about what you are doing. In the end, the other thing that can be done is put a fix in where the dancing does not get around being timed out from the server as an afker.
maybe bards performing as well while you are at it and everyone doing dance parties in the housing district...oh yea and everyone doing all the things i hate to do as well...makes perfect sense.
They have repeatedly stated that AFK dancing still times out.
If I wanted to, I could easily set up a macro on my gaming keyboard to type in a new emote and change what dance I'm doing in less than 30 minute intervals. It's stupidly easy to get around their afk kick system, but here I am suffering through Queue Savage because I'm an honorable person and log out when I'm done playing.
I still have a hard time seeing this as ban worthy. Taking out two people is not going to be a big deal. It won't effect the lines, at all. Can gms take away peoples ability to use emotes?
Some people pay to do this, this is how they want to play the game.
This is their right as paying customers.
So basically, "if you have a job then don't play FFXIV, or get banned" ? Yeah, sure, makes sense, brilliant !
Edit : A job that makes you not being able to log in before queues reach massive peak that is. Seemed obvious but idk, felt like it needed to be said just in case c:
If the customer wants to pay subscription to dance and hang around cities, villages, where ever all day in FFXIV that's their right, they can dance and hang around all they want, they paid for their time and have the right to use it for that.
If you don't like how they are enjoying their time in FFXIV, too bad, cry me a river.
Buh Buh Buh Server Queues- that's on SquareEnix to provide enough access to customers/subscribers. Take it up with the business you're paying money to, the customers already did their part by paying for service.
Paying for a service they can't access. Early Access was 4 days ? In my case I've been able to do only one. Some people haven't even been able to do one.
But anyway, it's not said in ToS that avoiding AFK timer is bannable. Yet. They can just kick people off the game.
Though I don't think OP meant AFK as in Away From Keyboard as it's meant to be, but more as in they're doing nothing else than dancing, basically I suppose they meant more a form of slacking than AFK ? I could be wrong. Probably am but hey
How many times do we need to say this! The login server and the world server are not the same things! The queue is situated on the login server, to not flood the world server it lets a maximum of 100 players onto the server at a time. Even if you cleared the world server and kicked every single player from that world the login queue would still be there! A player who managed to get into the world is no longer congesting the queue. Did you seriously believe that every time you see the queue getting lower it's because players are leaving the server? Dude! People ON the server aren't affecting the queue!
