Ok, got tired of not getting early access, so I wanted to see if the Japanese servers were as clogged, NOT EVEN CLOSE. We're at 5 days in and still getting 3-6k ques and when I get down to 1k to 2k "Error 2002" Server is full... Why is it that ANY time of day (even mid-day to early evening Japan time) I can create a new character on Japanese servers and play them with NO issues, which is sad, I have level 80 characters on Leviathan, and 2 other U.S. servers and can't get to them?
Also 7 days is not enough compensation, we're already at 5 days and with them doing maintenance we're going to be at 6 and most likely we'll still be seeing much larger que times. :mad:

Well it's currently 9am for them so it's not heavy traffic hours yet. They also have more worlds than NA and EU and I'm assuming their population isn't as high as NA nor EU. NA is probably the highest now thanks to the WoW Exodus.

It works IF you can get far enough to choose a datacenter. When I try to choose a datacenter I get 2002 out. I have had an alt on Kujata for more than a year to play with an Aus friend.

Because obviously, they are 14 hours ahead. So when it's 6pm here, it's 8am there. I.e. prime time here is always off peak hours there. -

I don't recall it being a Preferred world since I joined it, nor did I feel it behind in any way during Ishgardian Restoration (which I closely followed). I have been living in Japan and have been playing on a Japanese server since July 2019. I can tell you that the NA population of this game is MUCH larger than the Japanese population now. Even during peak times here in Japan, I have seen queues of about 1000 people after the first day of early access, and I play on what is most likely the second most populated server after Tonberry (Kujata). Unfortunately, FF14's recent boom in popularity in the NA region is most likely the cause of the login/server issues now for NA players. It's nothing to do with hardware differences, special treatment, or anything like that.

Would be interesting for the team to point to these charts when explaining things. I happened to "think" JP has a similar player count since, as far as I can see with vague observation, the worlds seem to be as lively as any other. I have no idea where to find such player count charts, I'd be happy if they were somewhat more prominent somewhere on Lodestone or some such -- and I'm sure it would ease up people blindly throwing arguments of this kind around.

Huh, the wonders a cursory search engine look can do. Looks like the graph is sourced from ffxivcensus.com, which in turn seems to have (unofficially) pulled publicly available Lodestone data and compiled it. The graph posted earlier is their data on total # of registered players per world. They also have one for # of players that have completed 5.0 MSQ, and call it "active players". Arbitrary, but interesting nonetheless. From of a ~40K to ~100K difference, that one points to something around ~7.5K to ~11K. A ~30% difference.

And would you look at that? There are 32 JP worlds, compared to 24 NA worlds. A... 25% difference.
Data is clearly marked to have been sourced/compiled April 4th, 2020. I'm not pushing any conclusions to anyone, each can make their own. -

Japan is in Asia. Japan's time zone is +8 to +9 GMT. Many players are sleeping on US peak hours. Server load is light.
