2002s are the real issue

As the title suggests here, we the player base understand and expect queue times. It’s totally normal with a popular release. Personally I’m ok with a queue, I’ll quietly wait 2/3/4 hours and do something else while waiting. What I don’t like is the fact that I have to constantly watch for a 2002 error for fear of losing my spot in the queue! I’m
British, queuing is my thing. Let me queue quietly without staring at a number scared an error will happen.

I'm an 'old' man. I'm not going to alter my schedule to log in at silly hours to play like I would in my younger days.

But I'll happily join the queue. I was just sitting in one at around spot 2000 when I got booted again.
I have not been able to succesfully sit in the queue and log in since (pre) release - every single time I get booted with this error.

At this rate simply logging in (even after 5 hours) is just not feasible at all.

The queues are expected - but they should work.... or you should retain your position for a few minutes at least if you're booted.

For some reason I'm not losing my spot anymore after 2002 error. Quick login and same queue position. Its 4004 I'm afraid of, its over after that.

Yeah, I can't log in today at all because of 2002s. The game won't even notify you about the error. What should I do then? Stare at the number for hours? And I also have never had my place in the queue back after relogin. For example, I've just got 2002, and the queue was around 6500. I immediately retry, and now there are 2k more people in the queue. It seems the game is unplayable atm even if you have a lot of patience.

I think that when the queue reach its maximum you get 2002 but don't lose spot. However 2002 because of your (even small) connection loss its reset.

I had 4004 once yesterday and it seems like the entire que list was disconnected with that.
After that my postion jumped several 1000s ahead after a fast reconnect but maybe i was just lucky.
But i dont see 2002 as a real issue because of teh REAL issue is that EU half the server EU 12, US 24, JP 32) than ohter regions and thats the thing that bites EU player in the butt right now.
Thats the real issue for EU players.

Yeah, I've given up even trying to login now. It's next to impossible as you end up waiting hours in a queue only to get booted off and lose your position.

C'mon, at least be a little fair about this. EU has fewer servers because it has a smaller player base. Prior to a very recent population boom, these servers were adequate. The population has simply grown at such an incredible rate that there was no way on earth for them to adjust to accommodate.

They're already in the final stages of getting an entire OCE data center up and running. Surely you can at least muster enough optimism to believe that, if they're seeing EU data centers have grown significantly, they're in the beginning stages of further adding capacity. These things take months to happen in the best of times, and we are not in the best of times.

People will develop a psychological trauma after this launch. I mean you sit 3h in a queue and with each number dropping under 100 your heart starts to beat faster, you feel nervous and are scared. One should feel joy that soon they will be able to play but all they feel is fear of getting error 2002 and getting back on 5-7k queue line for another 3h of waiting with no proof you will play at all.

Square should prioritize getting new servers up and running on 7th december becouse this is just baaad and with each day people are more pissed. Its early access and it has such huge problems imagine what ill happen durring official lanuch with new players trying to log in....10k queue awaits.

Totally this. Queues are just part of launch and no amount of foresight could have fixed it with the pandemic going on, but 2002 errors can be fixed.

The real problem with the 2002 error for me is it force closes the client and forces me to reenter credentials every time.

Errors like that should just force the client to return to the login screen not terminate the thing and force me to re enter login credentials, it's frustrating expecially when you have to put an OTP in everytime.

Restart the client. Another 200002 error while connecting to data center.
Restart again. Same thing.
Third time.
Fourth attempt I get in. Position in que: 7500. (4-5 hours maybe? or even more)

Yesterday, I acctually had to minize FFXIV and quickly re-log every time 2002-error popped up to not loose my spot in the queue. 3-4 hours lol
WHen I got in I logged out after 20 min because I was too tired :P

Currently in a 10 545 queue

Yep. They were 100% wrong to implement connection errors this way, and have continued to be wrong for eight years now. I have no hopes that they'll ever fix it, but all we can do is keep throwing paper airplanes at the back of their heads hoping they notice someday.

Been queued up since after 2pm, now 5pm as of this post and 1100 out from a starting point of 7000, been hit with the 2002 error twice. I'm not losing my position so far but the thing I fear being 2002'd right before login which makes me lose my spot. Least once I get online I know I'll be online for the evening.
