I've checked out the new Ishgard plots.
To me it looked like the large plots seem to be as big as the medium slots we have atm..
Do I need glasses? or am I not the only one seeing this?

You might be right. My FC has a large (28 in Lavender Bed) and there is a fair amount of space all around the house and seems to have a much larger front yard, at least compared to lot 12 in Empyreum.
did a bit of eyeball measuring with a friend and the mansion yards do seem like half the size lol

Might be the fact that the new plots are elevated? Looks pretty similar to me.
One year when I was looking at getting my first plot, I looked at them and thought the same thing. When you finally put a house on them it somehow adjusts. It's weird and I don't know why they look that way as an empty plot.
Looks to me like the 2nd is smaller width wise compared to the top image. I think they gave the 2nd more length and made the house claim area itself larger.
The non-elevated portion of the plot (a.k.a. the outline) looks like the original large plot layout were used to from the top image.
No, it wasn't given more length. The housing exterior is actually smaller than your regular exterior because it has a forge portion in the front. They have been giving more room to the front and sides of the house with newer exteriors.
Also consider the picture is taken from further back (2nd one) so they're not perfectly aligned, and thus looks slightly smaller.
Because I was posting it to compare plot widths?
Not the actual house as it's very rare to have a mansion and an outdated exterior?
Edit: Let me explain it a bit further, since I'm guessing you don't yet own a house. You need both plots to have the exact same exterior to compare the inner space. Because full house exteriors modify the inner spaces completely.
We can't buy Ishgard houses yet, so it's not possible to compare unless someone with a large house demolishes the estate.
And before someone asks, I won't demolish my state because that means losing every FC member room, plus airships and submersibles. Plus all decorations.
So, my focus was comparing the plot widths.
I'll be happy just to get one, I don't care how small it is.
i thought they looked like they had less space too, but it could just be me. i really wish SE would remove the grandfather for letting people have more then 1 plot per account.
Thanks all so far for taking the time to reply and even post photo's to compare :)
I hope you are right Arazehl and Ashgarth, they might expand once you buy one.
I've been working for months to finally affort a large plot, so I would be a shame if I am lucky to win the lotery for buying a house and then seeing that it's the same size as my medium plot
(large mansion is kinda end game for me for this expansion so I am looking forward to it)
I've given up on housing. I don't particularly like the idea of this lottery for the house. While the old system can promote unhealthy habits, at least, with persistence, you could get a house. I prefer that to something like this. Even with the eventual addition of a new datacenter and worlds, I still have little faith in winning a proper plot. Rather, I already have a small, but I wanted to get a larger one.
Don't give up my friend, this might be the only way to get a new house...at least try it when the lottery starts
After the houses are sold the chance of ever getting one will be alot and I mean ALOT smaller.
I don't like the rng of the lottery myself but a small chance is always better then no chance at all
(I've been looking at plots for the last 1/2 year or so and i saw alot of small houses for sale...i've seen 1 medium plot for sale (which i was lucky to buy) but there where 0 large plots for sale on my server during these months and I've checked every day)
I case I will be lucky with the lottery and you are not, I might invite you to my guild so you can be a part of it and share the house.
The 1st week I would spend all my time in it to decorate and making it look cool, then enjoying it for a couple of more weeks, then I would be open for other people to do the same....
put away all my stuff and place your own or resuse my items..keeping it for a couple of weeks and then someone else may have his/her turn.
The only reason why I don't do that now is that I don't trust random people. all the stuff in my house I've gathered and made myself or bought from the housing vendor
So alot of time and gill went into it.
But it might be time for me to make new friends and start to trust people over time to let this happen.
So for everyone that is reading this...you are welcome to join my free company if you want to enjoy my guild house ..or be part of a free company.
I don't feel the need to make events for guildies...but if people want to make events and need the house to change (making a dance floor for example for a music party)..I am happy to do that
and once i build some good relations with people over time I will let others have acces to changing the house as they please
If you want to check out the house ..just to visit or see what I have to offer..please come by.
8/9 rooms we have are mine (yes I love having alts ..also to have more rooms) so feel free to check them out and I hope you will enjoy your visit

Plot 36
Ward 7 (the gobles ..medium house)
Well the 2nd lottery period should be damn good too...with all those that are relocating. But after that it's gonna be a few smalls each time...don't plan on any mediums and certainly no mansions. I got lucky as hell to get my medium. In the 2 years I've been playing I have only ever seen 2 mediums for grabs.
I'm not so sure the 2nd will be a large one. Unlike FCFS releases in the past (like the three new wards) where there was a large number of small owners who could upgrade instantly. This time will be people trying to relocate in the 1 time per 9 day window AND mixed in with every homeless person and their dog on those same more desirable plots.
The chances will be miniscule to get a medium or large as a relocation, when so many homeless will try for them too, and that means less plots in the second pass. I think on NA servers the 2nd lottery will be around 1%, so 14 properties. Maybe less.
If you want to compare plots take a look at the houses in the Firmament ward and not those in the empty wards available to lotto purchase on the 12th. I think you'll find they are basically the same size.
It's inflation and the cost of space in The City On The Pillar.
I suspect the number in round two will be in the 150-200 range on most worlds. I know a lot of players and a few FCs looking to relocate not necessarily to upgrade but because they like the Ishgard aesthetic more than what they currently have. New owners should get the bulk of the Empyreum plots but relocators will still manage to snag some.
The big question is going to be how that number will be split between plots in FC wards and plots in personal wards. Some worlds might be evenly split, other worlds might have the balance heavily weighted toward one type. It's going to feel bad for players trying to get a personal house if the majority of what's available in round two on their world is marked for FCs or vice versa.
The space is the same, that red square is not actually the size of the house, it'll adjust once you put the actual house in. Everything will be fine.
While they might like to, mathematically I am not sure they can.
Base chance is maybe 1% assuming only 50% of a NA server enter.
Relocators will be aiming to the Mediums and Larges in many cases.
1440 houses in Emperium - 200 relocates means that 13.8% will be going to relocators.
But there are 456 Large and Mediums - 200 relocates means that 43.8% will be going to relocators.
Lets assume a few goblet 52 will want smalls, relocators getting 30% to be generous instead of 43.8%. That's 30 times higher than the base chance of 1%.
I can't see 1 in 3 properties going to existing owners when the base chance is 1%.
1% means... 14 or so properties in the second round.
