Adding playtime quotas is the only way to fix conjestion

No one likes quotas but I think that is the only way to allow all players to be able to play EW

It's not possible to just buy more servers, it is not a money or willingness issue, it's just that kind of process takes months to do. Yes, they should have earlier, but that is past and we need to look to the future.

Even with afk timers, many players are now using scripts and other tools to avoid the afk timer, especially raiders who are already accostomed to using third party tools. As time goes on only more and more players will start to use these cheats to bypass the queue. It will not get better, only worse.

A time quota per account is the only way to combat afk effectively. Even a generous amount like 6 hours a day could be enough to shorten the queue by incentivizing players to log off when they don't play

I am lucky to be a NEET and can play whenever I want, but what about people who have to go to work or school and can only play in the evening when it is most conjested? EW has been really wonderful, so I hope everyone can enjoy it, even if it is only for a several hours a day

I don't agree with this. This would give even pressure to people while they're playing, like they can't "waste" the time they're on, or cut them in the middle of a climax/a particular part of the story they're very involved. At the end of the day we bought the expansion plus pay a sub, so having our playtime decided by the company because they couldn't provide the infra structure to avoid these problems will leave a sour taste. This would make friends have to schedule their playing sessions, and we're not even sure this would fix the issue, honestly.

The only fix here now is wait and press for compensation/and server upgrade in the future. The sooner people accept that and stop having weird solutions they take off their hats, the better.

I literally just came here to post the same thing, after making this very suggestion on my FC's disco. Copying my post from there:

"Honestly, hate to say it (& it'd hurt me too), but at this point I feel like maybe they should have some sort of timed system where people just get auto-logged after X hours of play - then blocked from even getting in queue for Y hours. Give everyone _some_ gametime instead of a system that rewards luck or odd schedules, & encourages 'time hoarding' behavior (i.e. playing as long as possible - exactly what I did yesterday when I didn't DC, & will absolutely do if I ever get back in because that's the system we have right now)."

And yes, I was online for a solid 17 hours yesterday without logging out. The current system shapes behavior in that direction - because we all know 'if I log out, I will NEVER get back in again". Today I got DCed because Comcra... er, Comcrud. Now I won't be able to play again until tomorrow - queues are over 5k when I even get past the Login Server 2002 (Savage), & I'm always booted on their side before I get down to even 4k.

I do not agree. We are paying for unlimited play where we can play when we want and for as long as we want. If they started limiting it then they would have to change the pricing plan and issue refunds to those who pay in advance as we would not be getting what we paid for when we subscribed.

It sucks having long wait times to get in but until they can get more servers will just have to deal with it.

This would set a horrendous precedent.

IF you have been playing the game long enough, this is the same thing that has happened for Storm and Shadow. Early access was pretty much 1 day of play time, the rest was sitting in que, getting DC, or world crashing. kind of expected, I just check late at night once or twice, then give up till the next day. Sooner or later they will fix it.

Not as a solution to Endwalker, since "Early Access" is just codeword for "To be there at launch you need to preorder." and we'd be basically kicking people out of launch.

I wouldn't mind "You get ten hours pre-launch as a preorder bonus" on future expansions though. Cause then the bonus is more like getting a demo.

yeah limiting peoples playtime is not the solution because like you said especially during the week you will have countless people trying to play after work/school. yeah maybe the people that were on early wont be on for much longer or on at all but it wont solve the issue or really help much. besides that it can open up pandoras box of like phones that you pay for x minutes a month but look now you can buy more. the q times are rough but the real issue is getting booted from q and then losing your spot and starting all over. one of the few perks to being an adult is not being given an "allowance" of time to play watch tv or whatever. being an adult already sucks because of having real life responsibilities but if i have a day off and i decide to spend all day playing well then i should be able to do so.

SO then people that are not in endwallker content (for example) would not be allowed to log in at all during the pre-launch timeframe? It is unworkable

It would be really cool to be in the middle of a really important cutscene or in a duty and randomly get dced.

I think you miss the point - you would be forcefully logged off when your allotted time is up, whether you're dancing or not.

I think the time can be generous enough and giving sufficient warning so that that doesn't happen!

No, it would cause pressure on people wanting to get things done in game to push themselves. There is already several people afraid to take a break or get disconnected, worried about what if they go to the bathroom or eat. This would just add more unhealthy pressure. It would cause more issues than it helps, and speaking for someone that can't even get in due to the play queues.

It's a bad idea.

I can not wrap my head around this.. So your saying those who preordered can only play what ever exspantion for 10 hours and back to normal game..or those who preorder can only play 10 hours of game time lol

Either way makes no sense and dose nothing for the loggin Q.. People would just go back to afk'ing in limsa or doing other stuff..and if preorder people only got 10 hours of play time.. what you dont preorder and get unlimtied??

This is no soultion to a problem they knew was happing since SHB launch

Unhealthy gaming habits remain a problem and FFXIV has had some deaths over the years due to obsessive gaming habits. Even wow had a few crazy deaths over lack of healthy gaming habits.

Quota would be irritating and invasive but at least allow more opportunity to play and take away pressure for sub compensation

SE is no one parent we pay to play the game..I dont care at all what they would think on how i live my life wither its game time or the vegtables i eat.. You really suggesting that a company you pay has the right to tell you how to live lol

And you all missing a big ole point that SE CARES about..If you cut peoples time by more then have taken away 14 hours a day you need to cut the subscription price by more then half <--NEVER gonna happen
