Discussing a New Character's Race in the Endwalker MSQ [Spoilers]

Looked pretty interesting to see. Wanted to know everyone’s thoughts!

For those that don’t know,

Meteion is the name of the blue bird girl in Endwalker. Her race looks new.

I'm fairly certain they said we are not going to get more playable races.

Let's hope not. They need to focus on improving what we have, not go through more rounds of adding new races that only cause issues.

I'd love it but with normal feet please.

to be fair, given this is a long running mmo statements like this are allways subject to change.

I don't think we'll be getting anymore playable races beyond female hrothgar which we'll be getting at some point the future, making races is hard, best they focus their efforts on other things.

Problem is, given how they design their assets and complex races are becoming to be unique, it not gonna happen I think. At least not for years.
There is a reason bunny and lion bois don't have so many headpieces and hairstyles.

They never said that. Just that it's unlikely.

What is it with people wanting everything to be playable? I mean while it would be nice if it is, I, for one, and appreciative for what I have. That and... Lalafell Master Race! *drops mic*

No, almost certainly not.

1: New races take an exorbitant amount of time and resources to make work, and given that they're just *now* getting around to sorta-kinda-maybe fixing Viera hats... I mean, bunny ears are one thing, imagine trying to make gear that works with wings sticking out of your head.

And no, Meteion is rather unique. She had some identical clones also produced, but she was never approved for mass-production and there are no backups of her data for reproduction.

We already have Meteion-like playable race in other game.

Xenoblade Chronicles.

I also really want playable Meteion! But perhaps it can be done with just hat and feet glamour?

I just want Meteion .. as a companion, or at least going around doing stuff ... maybe on the island sanctuary, idk. Just know that finishing the story for me was more about saving Meteion than saving the star, she is my friend!!!

from new npc's added... I'd want playable Loporrits... >.>

yeah and those elephant race too while we are at it :P

Eh, uniqueness matters little as past content doesn't acknowledge your race much like if you go do Ivalice they surprised at Viera but not at player being a Viera, Yugiri in ARR make no mention of your Au Ra status same would happen if they added this or Garlean etc it just wouldn't be brought up outside of the expansion it was introduce in in & beyond.

That's why I didn't play Xenoblade either (along with its generally disappointing/ugly character designs).

Wings sprouting from the skull are an anatomical nightmare, and imo look ridiculous. I was quite disappointed to see it show up in XIV, and as the final boss no less.

I hope we never see this race ever again. It's hideous.

Well, it's spoilers, but anyone who has seen Meteion at all should already know this:

Nah, but Hermes really liked bird-girls. One fraction of his soul went on to be Amon, who quite likely created the Ixal in the Allagan's Fractal Continuum - possibly the real Garuda as well, unless she was just another Allagan. His soul remembers. Subconsciously, at least.

idk if this is a spoiler or not bc i have no idea waht youre talking about

but they said no new races ever again but they also said they wouldn't do a lot of things that were done and worked out

i want loporrit as playable, bc i wouldnt have to worry about cosmetics as much being so fuzzy and adorable

You would be correct. They said after adding Male Viera and Female Hrothgar, they won't be adding any further races due to the sheer difficulty of adjusting old gear and having to update each new race with hairstyles and so forth.

Considering it has been nearly three years and Viera still can't wear most hats, I wouldn't count on them changing their mind for a long, long time.

Up for debate. If they are continuing FFXIV for the next 10 years as they say they are then I'm sure there's room for another race or two.

You can't have finished the 5th zone yet if you think there's any possibility of this.

Massive spoilers:

Meteion isn't a race, and barely a living thing, she's a construct, made of Dynamis instead of Aether. It's a pretty fundamental thing that would prevent her from:
Being a fragment of Azem
Speaking to Hydaelyn

It's like being a Padjal, but dialed up to 11, not going to happen.

TL;DR - No. Please no.

Long reply - We have a variety of races to choose from. I don't think we need another added race. I'd rather the resources be focused on other things than someone creating another MEGATHREAD for "Petition for BIRB Race".

Also, for the sake of not spoiling the story, but it's not.... viable.

We have more than enough races.

Please stop.

When male and Viera female are sorted out and completely up to date with hairstyles and atleast *SOME* hats, then yeah SE can implement whatever race they want I don’t care.

But until then… no

It would not be a legit race at all, it is a real sponge of resentment, a hypersensitive race. They will faint or go mad at the first encounter with the first Ascian they meet in ARR.

Yeah, I don’t use them either except in very special cases, like the hat of the RDM is iconic in the franchise. I don’t change hairstyles either. However, to each their own, most players enjoy it. So if this becomes a new race, there will be another storm of pleadings and complains (even if they were forewarned from the very start a race will not get access to much headgear and hairstyle). Aside from that though, I actually don’t like it to be a new race. By the end of the story, I like to punch the character in the face.

I suggest you finish the MSQ of that area before making this suggestion lol

Rather than adding more stuff, lets just pause and bring the rest of the game up a bit ? I have not seen the race since I'm not that far in. But rather than anything more new, I would love for them to do a bit more with the older content we have.

AND NO SE, DONT EVEN GET THE FUNNY IDEA!!! I DONT MEAN A SYSTEM THAT MAKES ME RUN THE SAME DUNGEONS AGAIN FOR THE 2000 TIME.

More like, updating old textures, animations, old systems (just to name a few Grand Companies and their : Rewards, Ranks, Gear, Squadrons etc.. Chocobos : Better stats, more skills, better AI) Like the new Zones are great and all, but I still think the original zones from ARR look the best in density, feel and looks. The new zones are just a empty plain with just some stuff doted over compared to ARR ones. If you gonna make a "Plain" zone, make lit feel amazingly vast and beautiful like you did with The Azim Steppe.

It would not make sense as a playable race.

I would like to see glamour pieces for head wings, feet and tail though so people can use those! I would definitely use them.
