What kind of gear are you wearing? I recently found out for example that if u have the mask equipped from wolf camp (mortal hex or something) it will aggro the trees lol
Well my WAR AF and WHM AF was what it happened in but I have gone through turning leaf hundreds of times and never had that happen to me lol
I've had this happen as well. I was fighting mites and I was walking around them normally then all of a sudden the next time I did boom swarm of death.
I've been attacked by trees while walking but it seems rare and completely random.
Make sure you're hitting X, I can walk by em just fine lol.
It's just servers being laggy. The server approximates your position, and if you or the server lag behind, the next approximation ends up having a larger dDistance than it should be if you walk -> server thinks you ran -> LOLaggro.
If you have your weapon out (killing a spindiggle or something) your character is in run mode even if you have toggled "walk". I'm guessing it's something to do with detection of how fast you are walking (character moves client side, signal sent to servers, servers update in game, servers check for walk/run speed to determine aggro)
Maybe bad lag could trick the server into thinking you were running because of distance traveled? I'm not someone who could say definitively but that makes the most sense in my brain as to why those random deaths happen...
I've done serious testing and have only found that there is a bit of a lag between being in active mode (Battle) or running mode to the switch to walk.
I always toggle my walk, wait a few moments then begin walking far outside the monsters agro range, I've yet to ever get a "Mistaken" agro.
it is very frustrating, i had the same problem many times while exploring and while getting all of the aetherial nodes. every once in a while (about once per hour) i would find sound aggro mobs attacking me as i walked by, both before and after the implementation of the walk icon.
Not that this helps at all, but it has been around for a while, whether it be a bug or part of the AI programming, it happens.
and for clarification, i have had aggro after having been walking for several minutes, this would happen a lot in the shroud and thanalan.
Also, walking with movement enhancement does not aggro sound only mobs, though when i have been aggro's, i was not using movement enhancements.

Had this happen to me today while doing NMs for Moogle, myself and several others walked around just fine then out of nowhere I'm dead. 3 other ppl walking right behind me, nothing. It doesn't make a lick of sense.
