It begs the question as to why Minor Arcana even needs to be 2 hotkeys.
It's almost like zero lessons were learned from Stormblood AST.
The same reason as why Undraw exists...
Is Undraw one of those special animations they refuse to let go? Does it even have an animation? I don't think I ever used it to know.
No animation. You just lose the card.
A mystery indeed.
I don’t even have undraw on my bars. I don’t think I’ve ever used it.
I would also prefer if Minor Arcana and Crown Play were the same button. I mean, it’s not like you gonna leave it unused if you get either one. You could still just use the card up before you could draw another.
It's still a macro and therefore subject to the downsides of macros, such as not being able to queue. The icon won't automatically switch to your drawn card and if you held the card and used it when MA had come off cooldown (for example, holding Lord in a dungeon for the next trash pack, or a boss intermission), there's a chance of macro lag where it skips the first line and draws a fresh card, overwriting your first one.
It should be one button. Or deleted entirely for all I care, MA adds nothing meaningful to AST gameplay.
Get in line behind BLM and B4/F4. Or Ley Lines/Between the Lines.
Nah, but I do agree, hopefully someday things like this can be reduced.
I strongly dislike this skill. I placed it on a hotkey somewhere near Pluto. You will not find me using this skill unless I am REALLY looking for something else to press.
Minor Arcana, Crownplay, and Undraw all all skills that can be nuked right out of this kit.
I kind of used to my new keybind already. It occupies where Sleeve Draw & MA used to be.
For some reason I get a feeling they separate the button just so it won’t behave like its PvP counterpart: being unable to bank the card until it goes off cooldown.
Did anyone know that undraw spread used to exist? No? exactly. So why is undraw still around?
I still fail to see why splitting draw into draw and play was neccessary.
Well going by my very awkward play the other day, you get two charges of draw (at lvl 80) but only one charge of redraw, per press of draw. So if you don't get the card you want, you are basically stuck holding it until the CD is over. I was like, ok i can just hit draw again. About 2 out of three times the card didn't change and I was stuck with it yet again. I'm not sure if it was lag or what, but I ended up being stuck with a card out of sequence multiple times, despite using redraw and both charges of draw. I have put undraw back on my bar to see if undraw over overwriting with draw/redraw works better but... I dunno. Having two separate draws seems to be clunky but I unfortunately had to test everything in a trial by fire group where we took almost an hour to get through hero's gauntlet so... Yeah. I assume play is there so you can still buff while waiting for the card you need. Not sure why that had to be separate but...its not horrible. I guess.
I honestly still don't understand why they finally put some actions together in one button (it's so good that Summon Seraph + Consolation is finally the same button, and there are some for other classes as well), but make Minor Arcana and Crown Play two separate buttons. I'd rather have it one button, and Draw/Play as well.
I get that some people are happy with them being separate buttons, but couldn't they at least add an option to combine them? Same with Ley Lines for BLM. Why does the skill that lets you dash back to it need to be its own button?
Especially on controller. You have enough hotbar slots, but I also want to be able to press buttons comfortably and not put so many instant actions on the d-pad.
If macros could be queued I wouldn't even care but having to spam them is a big drawback.
AST already have way too many skill and we got a couple more this expansion - does anyone at SE plays AST? They surely must be having keybinding issues with it.
Whats the loss for combining Draw and Play/Arcana and Play? I really don't understand the reasoning behind this and I feel exactly the same I felt 2 years ago with the changes made to AST on ShB where every card was pretty much the same or hunting seals for Divitaion would only give a 2% dmg diff.
SE needs to get people with deeper knowledge into class tweaks (not even design, thats fine) its the fine tunning where they've been failing for a couple expansions now. AST would be a perfect job if it wasn't because we need 20 fingers to manage such a bussy job... easily the hardest to play right now.
