Worst Customer Experience Ever

Hello,

As the title shows, I took day off from work to play the game just like any other ffxiv player and I was so excited but it ended up being the worst gaming experience I ever had in my entire gaming life.

Woke up 2 hours before servers went live to get everything ready and enjoy the game, but I ended up experience the 2002, 4004 errors for almost 2 hours and when I managed to get into the game I had the chance to play for 20-30 mins and got kicked for no reason, then I had to wait in queue for 2 and a half hours then my router reset and since the game doesn't have a safety window for people that had technical issues, I waited 3 more hours again in queues and the second I got in again another error popped saying ''World is full and you have to try again later''.

My entire day off was basically a queue simulator while watching other people on twitch playing the game without any issues.

SE you were aware of the hype around the game since Asmongold came in, but you didn't invest on anything to make our launch experience memorable but instead you did everything to make it the worst experience ever.

I know that Yoshi P will come out and apologize again but an apology isn't enough to make up for this whole mess which is unfortunate.

We always said that SE care about their player base but this shows that we were wrong.

Thanks for making my early access experience a nightmare even worse than new world release.

They delayed also in part just to try and alleviate exactly this issue. It's not that they didn't see this coming, they really tried their best to please their fan base given the resources they had available.


It was this or delay until the pandemic starts to let up /shrug

I did read it when it was posted but this is just not acceptable, having an hour or two queue is fine but not being able to play the game is just NOT.

Even the ''Visit another world'' feature isn't available it says unable to do so and this since the servers went live.

It's unfortunate that this happened, but it was not unexpected. It seems that the EU servers got hit particularly hard with server instability - on NA we were able to get in within an hour and have been stable since then.

Not only.

Queue on Odin (Light EU) currently looks like it will take 6 hrs and up.

Have you heard about the hours-long queues for New World? Worst Ever is a bit of an exaggeration.

But then again, 3,000 to 4,000 on the waiting list is a long time to be disconnected.

Except, they did.

I accept that there will be problems but after 9 hours this not acceptable at all 9h now I can't enter the game, I bought your game in advance and this is what I deserve?

So what do you want FF14 Devs to do? Magically appearify semiconductors? Make it so the pandemic doesn't exist anymore? Skirt around government laws to do things under the table?

Like, I don't get what you want to happen?

It would have been nice if they had provided more EU servers. They are completely full since a long time already. Just warning people does not improve the situation.

think thats bad my charters are gone and i got to start over again lvl 1 from 60 i hated the walk when you die

I suppose in terms of what we'd like to happen, a couple more servers wouldn't go a miss. Sure there's a semiconductor shortage but they're still being manufactured, it hasn't come to a standstill. And it's not an impossible scenario to do some form of deal with someone to secure the hardware to create those servers. Squenix even acknowledged a while ago that there's been a huge increase in player membership so that could've been the timely prompt they needed get those servers up and running before the expansion came out.

Again, it was either delay and warn, or wait the pandemic out. They are working with what they can. You're right, semiconductors are not at a standstill, but they are backed up worse than a Lala who ate a tonze of fiber based cookies.


The Explosion of players that you and Perplexity keep mentioning, happened after that semiconductor shortage started - just like any other company who depends on them, they tried to work with what they have.

It is unacceptable because they have had years to beef up there servers for the future player base they would have.

I see this and cringe, they've done everything they can to alleviate server load. Semi conductor issue, I work in procurement, its almost anywhere 6 months to 2 year wait time for semi conductor material, many many place are already in line so Im sure square is on the far end of the list. Dont treat this as it just affecting you, its world wide, the biggest issue isnt materials, its man power most places are working at 50% man power capacity as compared to pre covid.

Yes, because a few years ago they TOTALLY predicted the massive influx of players in this year alone.

Spoiler alert: They did not expect that massive influx of new players at any given time, especially not during what is traditionally a massive lull in active players that is standard at the end of an expansion.

Have you tired buying a GPU? Have you read about the issues car companies are having right now?

About the only tech that you won't have any issues with are TVs and monitors. Everything else is back logged.

Everything you said. The only tech that you can find that does not have an issue is TVs and monitors. I walk into an Best Buy and I see a mountain of TV's like almost wall to wall TVs. All at MSRP.

I really like this game, it is amazing...I got to play today during the day and was amazed at the complete lack of issues and small ques. I thought, 'SE kicks ass!' Then I went AFK to do dinner with my family and came back to 5k+ ques...what makes me sad is all the ppl that are so stalwart in their defense of SE...we were warned, it is to be expected, had the most concurrent players on Steam, just play in 2 weeks...
FFXIV was the 10th most played games today with a peak of 87,831...compared to MIR4, Rust, NW [on the low end]. New World is new and somehow they go the servers go get 131k players at peak. This is completely inexcusable that ppl cannot log into the game. Ques of 5k that go down so slow if you are in que you will get dropped and have to que again. Just terrible. To defend this kind of issue speaks to the massive good will this game has with their community. As someone why appreciates FFXIV as a masterful storytelling experience I am not not blinded to the fact that this is just terrible. Really sad.

oh the automobile issue? it's looking like probably late 2023 before the issue even really starts going away. the manufacturers have cars piled up but no chips for them. dealers are getting 5-7 new cars usually of one type, and it's rare you can find a place that will accept a custom car set up from a website or a dealer. By the way, dealers are not doing custom orders because they know they will be waiting a year or more for something that might not be made ever.

Now To @kurithas: where were they to get the parts for new servers? they've been trying to source parts for the oceanic DC, yet they don't have what they need so how can they add more servers JUST for the launch that after a month they won't be using that much as people have done the normal, sped to the end and said ok i'm done! PEACE out till the next patch!

I wouldnt even care if the queue kept my spot in line every time it has booted me out for the last few hours. /shrug.

You do realize who BACKS and published New World, oh yea also they are hosting them on their own servers! AMAZON.... you think SE has the appropriation power that AMAZON does? it just purchases what it wants and other hope there is something left. Also NEW world had brand new servers being build during the pandemic and didn't have any issues because of AMAZON again. SE had their severs already set and they were not engaged in major server upgrades till just early to mid 2021 and just could not get the equipment fast enough.
