I have both Ifrit's Claws and Mogfists which one should I be using?
Ifrits claws
Mogfist for open world farming, the extra accuracy helps. Ifrit's claws for instances usually, Garuda being the exception since her evasion is very high.
Talons or GTFO
I'm not so sure. I've been parsing a brd in our ls and his avg ws damage was the same on garuda with ifrits bow and garudas. needs more testing. Several times his avg damage on ws was higher than ifrit, and his auto attack damage was substantially more, auto attack is underrated
most of pgl damage comes from auto attack. attacking faster helps in that, even with reduced ws damage
Puggle-Poppers for fun Ifrit for business, just got the talons last night so need to test.
Not actually true.
Firstly WS damage is based on dps and not weapon damage so since both weapons have very similar dps amounts the WS damage will be similar with ifrits maybe edging out slightly due to the very small difference in dps values.
Secondly auto attacks should generally only account for 15-20% of total damage done if you are maximising your damage output, for example the only fight we actively use MNK on atm is Mistress and i generally end around 19-20k damage dealt when she dies with only 2.8-3k of that total being from auto attacks.
Talons should currently be the BiS if you can obtain them but if not i would still go with ifrits claws / GC claws unless you need the health regen from mog fists.
As Peng pointed out, DPS appears to be the primary damage modifier for WS, not the weapon's damage stat. This is a recent discovery.
that would explain why i didn't know. My bad then
I've recently got the Talons and I must say, they are very fun and still really strong. The AA dmg is at most 10 less per fist, but they hit very fast, and my WS dmg appears to be at the very least the same as Ifrits. I swear it is more but that could be just me. Using Spinning Heel with them(due to animation) your attacks look literally back to back. They are a very fun weapon and very useable.
that would explain the parse numbers I posted about on the first page then. cool
I also go the talons last night. I'd need to do some proper testing but the wind dmg seemed to proc fewer times than the fire does with ifrits. Only gave them a quick ten minutes though so this could just be bad luck. If I understand it correctly they should also affect our gear build a little, with the str cap increasing slightly and the int cap falling a touch. Need to test the difference in tp gain from the lower delay during spinning heel but the most important thing is that they are tremendous fun.
