I thought it was said that come 6.0, leveling jobs would be faster to like 80, or so. But, in the recent live letter it looked as though this is not the case after all. Can someone confirm either way?

I can't confirm, but how much faster does it need to be? As it is, I rarely hit a wall when leveling just off the MSQ. As for alt jobs, between fates, side quests, beast tribe dailies, and roulettes, leveling goes pretty quickly. I'm not convinced that this even needs to be changed. If I wanted to play a game that let me level an alt in a matter of hours, I'd still be playing WoW.
As it is it takes about a week to go from 1-80 if you're grinding... how much faster does it need to be?
There is an armoury bonus of 100% for alts between level 1-69. What they probably meant is that the armoury bonus of 50% between level 70-79 will be increased to 100%.
Why have leveling at all if it needs to be any quicker? Its nowhere near horrible than it could/used to be and even then it wasnt bad.
Well, 70-80 is a pain since there is no PotD or HoH version. With the increases in level cap you have to shorten the exp reqs every so often or players wont want to invest the time to go from 1-90, 1-100, etc... Plus they stated something about shorting it I thought.
All this talk of a week. I would be happy with just 3 days lol. Leveling should not be that big of a deal.
It used to take months/years to level things in mmos, a week is literally nothing.
I didn't find 70-80 and worse than previous leveling, tho I also leveled without potd or HoH, so... It's very much not needed.

You have Bozja at 71, it is a great alternative to level up. The moment they announced Reaper/Sage lots of people joked with the instance being filled with them.
Either way it is not hard/long to level.
The roulette gives decent chunk of exp from Frontline, Levelling, Alliance and MSQ. You have Trust if you want to casual level up without queue and worries etc

The Dev Team will have to increase the leveling speed in Endwalker since the level cap will be higher.
Leveling is pretty slow right now, those saying it's too fast already must play 24/7 to get from 1 - 80 in one week. Not everyone has so much time to play.
Leveling a single character x all jobs might be easy enough to make you think it's fast but leveling alt characters x multiple jobs is quite the nightmare, I could definitely use faster experience.
There was an article posted during the media tour that quoted that leveling alt jobs would be a lot faster as they'd prefer people to be able to enjoy the character over just the job. In Jessie Cox's interview they mentioned something about increasing side quest exp. My guess is they didn't change the exp curve but rather the sources that give exp.
For anyone the thinking it's too fast already, just remember that many of us here on the forums have leveled every job over years. The response is likely due to the influx of new players, it's a bit daunting to try out new jobs and roles when there's 19 to level and 20 to pick from lol
You don't but it does add value to have when you want to do other things. Making it easier to level up would be a good thing in the long run. Ya sure we can talk about other mmos taking weeks, but this game with how often you can switch. Being able to easily level them up would be a nice touch.
The live letter mention was compared to now the leveling speed will be the same all things equal. IE 1-10 will be the same now and later 1-10 with 100% armory will be the same as 1-10 with 100% armory. SO 70-80 with will be the same as now. BUT 70-80 with 50% armory will become 70-80 with 100% armor so it will INCREASE speed. Because you cannot have the same speed 70-80 AND the same speed 70-80 50% = 70-80 100%
I made an alt recently and it went from lv 1-50 in hours wearing the Endwalker pre-order earring. Granted part of it was knowing about things like hunting log, enemy/quest locations, and skipping a number of CS I had seen previously (I watched a few because I started this alt in a different city). I didn't hit a noticeable slowdown until I cleared Praetorium which capped off the initial ARR story and the MSQ stopped handing out large amounts of EXP. This likely is just due to the game's lvl cap not changing until HW so I'll see if it picks up again once I actually hit HW with that alt as I've been doing other stuff on my main to prep for Endwalker.
You might be seeing things from the wrong point of view.
Leveling up a new alt character through the MSQ is very fast because the quests give enormous amounts of EXP, this only applies to a single job.
Leveling up all the other DoW and DoM jobs with the same character is excruciatingly slow thus we need faster leveling.
What I would propose is to add all the remaining leveling dungeons to the Adventurer Squadron and increase the EXP gain in general as they've done before but even higher.
I wish they would increase the xp from side quests. Some of them are really good, with little stories told through quest chains that give more in-depth lore to the zone, or at least some fun humour. Unfortunately, the xp is so negligible that they are a complete waste of time if you're trying to level.
