As things are, you want to cast these 15-22 times per minute.
How would you feel if you only cast it like 2-3 times per minute? You'd turn it on, and your character would get little windows where they could move or ogcd without interrupting, but it would be auto-cast unless you clipped it too much.
You would be touching your keyboard much less, but the relative diversity of the buttons you actually press would greatly increase. You would not actively be droning on. Just passively. And, for those stakeholders who hold so much sway who are so concerned about overwhelming healers, we would actually have less to do: all the while likely increasing healer offensive performance.
(Even if recent attention has emboldened those dissatisfied with the healer direction, Yoshida is holding firm for now. Given that, turning the nukes into stances seems like one of few realistic ways to make healing less monotone.)

An alternative means of doing this would be to just make our auto attack damage scale off mind and amount to roughly what our nukes tally to.
Can't say I'm a huge fan though. That's just going to reward afk healers in casual raids even more and I suspect E8S like this would actually have me falling asleep on my keyboard between intermissions of actually doing anything =( -

I’d rather spam Glare/Malefic/Broil/soon Dosis 20 times a minute versus basically not at all. Especially since I don’t think there would be added healing mechanics to compensate for the substantial amount of downtime I would have now.

seriously though, 1.5s on all 4 healers is functionally already an auto attack; just admit it and make it true auto? would help with carpal tunnel at least, think of the injured ones!

We already press less variety of buttons with current iteration of healers. Things you’re suggesting will make us press even lesser buttons.
Is that really what you wish? I certainly can right click my target then go semi-afk with that. But why would I even play a game at that point? -

Even if it s just another DoT to manage. And they won’t give us that either, so. We’ve tried. Even quitting en masse I don’t think will work a la some of the other jobs—because the ones that don’t want to do anything as a healer but stand around, emote, and toss out the occasional Cure will still be around. though this somehow feels like a natural next step in the healer gameplay direction they've taken, so i think this is happening in 7.0 whether we ask/like it or not ^^
